Exciting Announcement: SRPG One for All Jam!

Greetings, Fellow Fire Emblem Hackers, Devs and Enthusiasts!

I’m thrilled to introduce the SRPG One for All Jam, a week-long challenge that invites you to showcase your strategic genius and creative prowess in the realm of Single Map SRPG development!

Event Dates: February 18th 2024 - February 25th 2024

The Challenge: Craft an engaging experience that unfolds entirely within a single map. Whether you’re a seasoned developer or a first-time creator, this jam is your opportunity to push boundaries and bring your strategic visions to life! Pick any engine of your choice! SRPG Studio, Lex Talionis, Tactile or whatever you’re working on.

Rules

The All-for-One Jam is an event where you create a new Single map Game in 1 weeks based on a theme.

The theme will be randomly generated the day before the Jam starts.

The theme is revealed at the start of the event.

The Jam is an event for everyone. Teams, individuals, anyone that wants to come out and make something.

  1. Work alone or in a team.
  2. Create a game in 1 week.

The game can be created using any engine you like, as well as any tool to help you in the development.

You’re free to start with any previously developed code, base project, characters, etc. but the map and narrative of your game has to be made during the Jam.

Furthermore, you’re free to use 3rd party Artwork/Music/Audio assets, or assets you previously created.

It is strongly recommended that you only use assets that you have the legal right to use (Public Domain, things you licensed/created, etc.). If you don’t have the right to use something, it is your responsibility, and there is nothing I can do if it is taken down for copyright infringement.

Submission

You have 1 week to submit your game to the jam, the submission list is hidden until this submission period ends, but people can still access your submission from its own page.

During the submission period you can make any change to your submission, be it adding features, fixing bugs or replacing assets.

After the submission period ends, the judging period begins, since all participant and contributors can vote so remember to properly add your contributors. Also, be sure to set your game to be free.

Judging

The judging periods last until August, so everyone has a good amount of time to play and rate the entries, when judging you will have to pick a game to judge from a randomly selected set of 3, after doing this 3 times, you will be able to freely pick what submission to rate next.

All participants that submit a game are allowed to judge. Games are given 1-5 star ratings in each category.

The categories include:

Innovation – The unexpected. Things in a unique combination, or something so different it’s notable.

Fun – How much you enjoyed playing a game. Did you look up at the clock, and found it was 5 hours later?

Theme – How well an entry suits the theme. Do they perhaps do something creative or unexpected with the theme?

Humor – How amusing a game is. Humorous dialog, funny sounds, or is it so bad it’s good?

Mood – Storytelling, emotion, and the vibe you get while playing.

Graphics – How good the game looks, or how effective the visual style is. Nice artwork, excellent generated or geometric graphics, charming programmer art, etc.

Audio – How good the game sounds, or how effective the sound design is. A catchy soundtrack, suitable sound effects given the look, voice overs, etc.

Overall – Your overall opinion of the game, in every aspect important to you. This is the primary ranking category, so the winner of the jam is determined by this.

Prizes

There are no physical or cash prizes for the competition. Your prize is what you make of this Jam, maybe a cool prototype, maybe feedback for your crazy ideas, or maybe to get to play and judge other fun entries.

To participate the games need to be uploaded and published on itch, then submitted to the Jam.
You can follow the event here:

And just to clarify, Romhack are allowed too.
