Engage SAVED Fire Emblem | Why we need vtubers

Thank you for your thoughts!

While this is partially true, I DID remark in the original post that copies sold do not neccessitate good reputation within a community. Rather, copies sold are only an indicator on the actual company who wants profit more than a “quality vs quantity” type of game. Sales are not causal on the overall repuation of games, especially in the Fire Emblem sphere.

This also goes back to another point I had made on the Fe12/13 debate on whether or not which game SAVED Fire Emblem. “Saved” in this context means the continuation of the franchise, something that both FE12 and FE13 gave due to sales. As I have stated above, sales are not causal to a games overarching reputation, I daresay.

I personally disagree, but that’s okay!
The “modern” art feel of Fire Emblem started around the Fates era. Given its more vibrant feel than Echoes (Which by all sales metrics “failed” to the predecessor), it would make sense why people would want to ENGAGE with Fire Emblem more. Three Houses’s art direction was a necessary modernization of the artstyle compared to what we had before then. Despite what others may think, the more “anime-esque” artstyle attracted more people to the game. Like I had stated above, the first thing people see in games is how well presented it looks; First impressions are everything. The artstyle modernization is a high factor to WHY Engage is so controversial in the first place, and why its a defining FE game for the modern era.

While Markiplier is a very well respected creator, I do not believe that him being in a game at all would be definitive to making a game popular. Please keep in mind im talking strictly about the aesthetics and the new art direction that FE is taking, not if specific creators or vtubers are suddenly added into games or not.

I concede this point, but I do believe there is a real substansive argument that the art direction and the mechanics are significant in Engage’s success and it’s reputation going forward. Engage will be revered in 5 years time, I believe.

Even if you haven’t finished Engage yet, I earnestly hope you do someday! It deserves a fair review.

maybe i cant talk 'cause my only big known posts are ostensibly a bait thread i made as a drunken bit in call with 4 other people but like cmon man.

you gotta realize how this general conduct you carry has consistently made you deeply uncharismatic in actually getting anyone to listen to you. every time you’ve arisen Like This, which you have multiple times, your means of going about this makes even people who may tepidly agree with you shy away. like its not a one time thing, this crops up almost every time i see a post from you pimp

i fervently dislike engage (and quite honestly most of the modern feshit in general) but when this is the stuff that arises in response, it moreso makes people want to be contrarian towards you more than anything else. because its actively repellant from garnering any positive support your way besides the most fervently agreeing.

if engage wants anything from me, it has to get rid of the wedding rings. they could’ve been anything else but nope, they went for rings.

yes I am hung up on a very specific bit, deal with it.

My response was literally just a Hobbit reference to one of Beorn’s lines. I mean, even if you don’t know the origin, it screams “quote with words changed.” This entire thread has been majorly tongue-in-cheek debate with similar meme responses both for and against Engage.

What I mean in plain words is that Three Houses fans have indeed been pegged as “mainstream gamer tourists” who are only interested in 3H, and maybe 3 Hopes or Heroes. I do agree that 3H discourse is largely toxic and immature, and do believe 3H fans can be narrow-minded and stubborn to venture into other FE games. However I wouldn’t go far as to call them “fake fans” and leave them be.

A vocal portion of Engage “fans” (not including OP and largely outside of FEU) have manufactured a rivalry between 3H and Engage. They are hardcore “elitists” exclusionary of 3H fans. I don’t even think they care about Engage that much. They saw a chance to be reactionary and pass off Engage as the antithesis of 3H and a “filter” for “true fans that like gameplay.”

In actuality, Engage is far closer to 3H and Heroes than any of the “classic games” they claim it is a “return to form” to. And most casual fans I know like Engage liked 3H too as both have the “social simulation” between battles (and have some of the narrow-mindedness as well).

I admit that I wanted to meme on this “rivalry” for a while this year and apologize my comment isn’t fully relevant in this thread, Said elitists would indeed claim Engage SAVED the series after 3H RUINED it, but definitely not because of VTuber artstyle. I figured it was the best place for such a quote meme and simply took an opportunity when I saw a rare not-entirely-serious Engage discussion.

I never recall 3H graphics being called “bad” years ago, but apparently they are now. People may call Engage’s better, but 3H is still technologically one of the most visually impressive games in the series with it’s massive amounts of units rendered in battles, which is something Engage doesn’t have to devote GPU to. I think 3H’s graphics get way too much hate because of the hatemongering against 3H in general. The 3DS games easily have worse 3D models with characters’ painted-on, flat faces removing all seriousness from cutscenes. Although it is valid to dislike 3H or Engage’s artstyle, neither of them have “bad graphics” compared to older games.

Engage and 3H KILLED Fire Emblem because they have horrible UIs and Nintendo needs to go back to cheaply made handhelds with dual screens for the RPG addicts
