Do you like MU characters (Custom units)?

I like the gameplay aspect of a MU

Story wise, I have yet to see I.S pull off a good self insert

I mean robin wasn’t terrible, he had a little bit of a personality.

And if Kris didn’t steal lines and over all spit in the face of Kaga’s game then people may have liked them more

I think Robin should have been the last avatar for this series.

I love Robin’s character, and not because they’re an avatar, but because of their balanced role in the story, helping Chrom lead their friends into battle. I like the idea of him being taken in by strangers and making friends/family with them. It’s the kind of found family trope that I really enjoy.

That aside, though, I definitely prefer for Fire Emblem games not to have an avatar.

I think custom characters may be less intrusive if they weren’t at the center of the story, maybe not even showing up for the first few chapters.
It could be much easier to insert them in as a random unit that gets recruited after the main lord hires a few mercenaries and then you get the custom unit as a bonus.
