Personally I like Dex more so I implement it in all my projects.

It’s been Skill for so damn long that it’s hard to see it as anything else… but especially in games with skills having it named Dexterity makes sense.

I’m personally waiting for weapons to use other stats for damage calc, dex in particular could be so cool to base certain weapons or even weapon lines for, like dungeon and dragon’s finesse weapons, one candidate that could use dex as their dmg modifier could be daggers, allowing units that use it to have a different advantage vs normal str based classes

Never thought of something like that, though perhaps it would work better for a weapon sub-type, combat art, or a skill.

When working on my own personal projects, confusing the stat ā€˜SKL’ with unit’s skills (like Death Blow) started to happen very often.
With IS recent emphasis on unit customization and skills, I thought it was a good idea to change it permanently to Dex.

But when playing vanilla gba fe, nothing can beat good 'ole Skill.

With the Advent of skills like Counter, Aether, and the like from FE9, I’m surprised that dex wasn’t used until FE16. Though I guess that explains why I called the stat Dex in my hack (also with ā€œGeneralsā€ being changed to Fortress Knights)

Dex is more distinct from actual skills so it’s just better to use in games with skillsystem to avoid confusion

Having two mechanics not be named virtually the same thing is like… Really basic

Strength, Skill, Speed rolls off the tongue better.

I might like Dexterity more if they also changed Speed to Agility. The two words have better symmetry, and as a bonus, Attack/Effective Speed can be shortened to Speed.

Strengtity, dexterity, agility lol

Dexterity personally, especially since both recent titles are using that name.

A quirk of this is that I give Thief classes high Dexterity as opposed to vanilla FE8 where Thieves have very little Skill.

The thing is most proc skills use the skill stat anyway. So is it really confusion or synergy?

Dark souls has taught me that dex is for losers. All you need is 10 dex, but don’t tell anyone that.

This is… surprisingly tough, actually. Frankly, I’m just so used to Skill, since the games used that translation all the way up until the Switch era. On the other hand, I do think the ā€œDexterityā€ translation has merit to it, since it more clearly differentiates the ā€œSkillā€ stat from Skills as a mechanic and draws on possible audience familiarity with the Dex stat in other games to make it more immediately intuitive to new players what the stat does.

So, I guess, if I personally were making the call, I would probably go with Dexterity, all things considered, but the ā€œSkillā€ name for the stat is always welcome with me as far as I’m concerned. It’s like an old friend.
