… Jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj
What?
Uhhhhhh
Excelblem is funny I guess
Remember, all of this happened because Jagen died to a 1% crit.

hes fine, find the style of his stuff gets pretty rote after you’ve seen it once or twice and proceeds to lose much of the fun since its otherwise very similar beats on loop for both challenge runs and reg runs.
the design vids are generally fine too but hes tweaking with just going “buy javs lol” for fe6 offhand in the juggernaut vid. beyond that they’re chill
who is the mom tho
Even the smallest of actions can spark an hurricane… Or something like that.
Ngl i really enjoy excelblem’s content. Its just funny. I can enjoy vanilla and rom hacks, and i think many people think this way.
Excelblem’s pretty alright. I don’t watch him regularly, but he’s fun to watch when I do. Part of what’s appealing is that he’s an utter madman. Just when you think he can’t think of a crazier and more tedious challenge to torture himself with, he does. He’s cool.
Excelblem is usually funny. Sometimes informative.
Like when his videos informed me why every game and fangame needs anti degenerate grinding mechanics to keep players from spending literal hours grinding onstream causing the gameplay to degenerate into “Win because I am overlevelled”. He’s a great youtuber, don’t get me wrong, he makes great videos and there’s nothing wrong with playing games his way if games let you. But it really proves those Game Design videos were right when they said “Players will optimize the fun out of your game if they can, don’t let them ruin it for themselves, force them into the fun zone”. Let people grind in easier modes/optional areas if they want but challenges meant to be challenges need to be Excelblem-proofed during playtesting.

The thing is that Excelblem only does stuff like this because it makes for funny content, and as far as I can tell he actually enjoys doing stupid degenerate grinding strats like that, probably because he has his livestream chat to talk to while he does it. Most people, because they don’t enjoy grinding for hours upon hours, don’t do things like that because they don’t want to deliberately make the game unfun for themselves. I also very much disagree with the “players will optimize the fun out of the game” statement but I’ll keep myself from going on that tangent unless anybody is actually interested in it, also my brain is fried because I don’t have my meds so it would be dangerously incomprehensible lmao
I’m sure tons of players out there have the restraint to say “Even though this strat beats the game with minimal effort and thought required I choose to try cooler looking or more interesting approaches” and stick to it even when things get hard, but some really will say “This game allowed me to have a bad time, 0/10”.
Seriously, the first time you see a Pokemon romhack player say “Your game needs to include a Nuzlock mode that deletes my save if I die and forcefully kills my Pokemon if they die, otherwise I cheat and break the nuzlocke rules whenever I feel like it” you change.
I almost threw up laughing at his turbo scuffed three houses kill em all run that would make punished dimitri proud, but I have no strong feelings one way or the other over his content; some people like to punish themselves, some enjoy the emergent challenge and story telling of iron man, and others want a harem of overpowered anime girls to face pet - to each there own
i think the “kill my units” concept he often does is fundamentally severely flawed since you run the risk of it just devolving into a lord solo (or multiple lords if applicable)
I dont watch must of his content anymore, but I think a part of his appeal comes from the casual-sounding nature of his voice, and yet his incredible calmness in the face of what most would consider lunacy.
It’s funny in the same way that a deadpan snarker is funny- its the delivery that sells it.
Other than a few smaller channels Excel is one of the few FE content creators to actually scratch at interesting concepts from a design perspective in his PowerPoints. He’s not really entrenched in the wider community and it shows from the way he tackles the series. The concepts he goes over are rudimentary at best but they’re far more useful and informative than anything the big FEtubers on the block have talked about.
Also I’m gonna be the one to say it, making a whole post about one dude is kinda weird
He’s annoying and his gimmicks get recycled repeatedly. Kicked him off my youtube feed after his 3rd kill everything run and never looked back.
