Can I delete an ups file after I have already patched it?

Yup it’s a bit confusing and stupid but it’s basically like a zip file where you can delete the zip after you extract it’s contents. Does it apply to this too? Or does the ups file really have to stay to get the ROM hack working even after being patched?

No you do not need to keep the ups patch if the rom has already been patched.

You do not need to keep the ups patch.
However, if the work have ROMNAME.updateinfo.txt, you should not delete the ups file in that case, as it is used to check the date of the update decision for automatic updates.

Think about the ups file as a folder from which you copy files to another (ROM) in order to replace its content.
