Bloop says hello, again

Alternate title: The final boss of The Heroes We Deserve is a woman now

Hello FEU o/

I’ve been waffling on how or where to do a new introduction post, but I think this is the best place for it. It’s really cool to see how much the community here has grown over the last 5 or 6-ish years since I was last around! For those who remember me from back then, you probably weren’t left with the best memories. I’m going to get more into that in the spoilered section below for those who don’t want to read something more personal/serious:

For someone who behaved how I did in a public setting, it feels fitting to talk about in a public setting too, now that I’m doing better and have been given the opportunity to come back. As it turns out, isolating yourself from and hurting the people you want to share a community with doesn’t make you feel better about yourself. I was confused, angry and didn’t know how to resolve any of those feelings in a healthy way. I’m pretty sure, at the time, that I thought it was normal to feel how I did. I think the part that bites the most is that there were lots of people around me who would have been happy to help, if I had been able to ask for it. There’s a lot I can’t forget, am deeply sorry for, and has motivated me to actually live up to who I know I can be.

So, what’s changed in my life since then? A lot, but most dramatically that I’m a trans woman and happier than I ever thought would be possible for me. Treating myself with kindness and finding friends who inspire and care for me took time but has been incredibly rewarding. Over the past few years I’ve been a part of the fighting game community(I was catching up with Devvy just yesterday and he said someone from FEU actually recognized my name at a fgc event, which is funny), revived my interest in reading and creative writing(I love Robin Hobb and Alyson Greaves), and done a bunch of drawing too! Also literally a few days ago I found out my friend Dove/Arcadia has been working on his own romhack for like a year along with some other friends I know from fgc communities which is a wild coincidence.

One of my big motivators for reconnecting with the FEU community was not being able to fully express what I wanted to and give feedback about hacks that have recently inspired me, notably Hag in White and The Fisher King’s Heart. Being able to do that now has made me really happy :). Also I have terminal Vision Quest brainrot. “Heck” and “Chief” will not leave me until the day I die, probably. Happy to say hello again, you all are very epic

Mhm, that’s a tale as old as time right there. I remember before I transitioned, I was a bitter and moody and temperamental little shit. People still liked me, so I guess I wasn’t terrible about it, but I was basically constantly miserable and would often take it out on other people, or else just withdraw entirely and not talk to anybody for weeks, and I spent a lot of time being judgey and nasty in my own head.

It’s fascinating, if a little obvious in hindsight, how much liking yourself dovetails into caring about your future, and how much caring about your future makes you want to start building lasting connections with the people around you.

I’m like just barely too new to the community to have heard much about your behaviour outside of bits of hearsay, but I’m glad to hear you’re happier and healthier these days. You probably have a much blanker slate than you think you have, so don’t worry about, like, proving yourself a changed person or anything like that. IMO, if you’re happier now, then just doing as you would normally will make all the impression you need.

Reading about your past experiences and what you ended up learning inspires me to also better myself. Maybe I haven’t done as much mistakes as you, but it’s still nice that you were able to improve yourself in the end. That shows that we can strive to be better than before.

I’m going to be totally new for you since I was just starting to be around here in 2024, so hi Bloop, welcome to FEU, once again.
