[BETA][COMPLETE][Lex Talionis] Fate of the Fallen - 21/21 Chapters & 13/13 Epilogue Chapters

I was just at Ch 7 so I don’t know if there were pairings and gender specific things, Does this mode change these? If so it’s mildly interesting.
Edit. There are other modifiers and all of them point to new game + content, I’d like to know what they do, specially if you plan to include another one that requires all the achievements because those are annoying since there is no hint to get them.
The choice casual option is okay but the one about the growths irks me a bit, I though RNG Jesus was already a thing of the past.

New patch release to fix some of those classic new release issues.
17 now doesn’t have infinite visits and 18 no longer softlocks.

As for all the other modifiers, none of them are implemented, it’s all in the planning stages, as I warned about in the little opening text before the modifiers popped up. And I don’t think I’ve ever had a modifier locked behind getting all the achievements, only ever specific achievements unlocking specific modifiers in ToT. But yeah, no it’s not going to be locked behind anything that annoying to get.
And why would you think RNG was a thing of the past? It’s a crucial element of the engine that determines everything from whether an attack hits to whether a stat gets boosted on level up. All that decision does is give you a choice how you want the RNG to be handled, before you just didn’t get a choice. Also that’s only done in the new modified mode. Default Reese mode is still the original experience.

The achievements thing was just fear because there is nothing more annoying than a long playthrough ruined by not shooting the asshole in the first chapter.
The RNG regarding level-ups (I didn’t specify that before) being a thing of the past seemed like a normal evolution, by nature you can have extremely screwed up characters or OP ones and that affects how the game is enjoyed so the dev having control of level ups and planning enemies according to that data seems like a good tool to have.

So that’s an option now with the Modified difficulty option. That’s what fixed growths are.
But by default FotF uses Dynamic.
I can see the appeal for both, and now you can choose which I think is an improvement.

I understand that some people like the thrill or the infinite save scumming for good growths, though I’m unable to understand what’s good about random growths if that won’t make the fixed growths unbalanced then I have no trouble with it.

Fixed growths is untested at the moment, but I can’t imagine it throwing the balance out of whack. If you go with fixed growths, I’d be real interested to know about your experience <3

The game is not on fixed growths by default but on Dynamic/Hybrid? That mode might be better than it looks since I haven’t really found the usual atrocious level ups found on random.

Yeah, the default is Dynamic. I’ve also globally for all units and generic enemies increased growths substantially. Empty levels are real rare with these two things combined lol.

Now that we talked about growths, How do they work with the class changing item? Can you change class without worrying about crippling a character?

So all units have their own specific growths that aren’t tied to their classes at all.
And so if you were to change Varton into a thief, you’ll find he still has a really healthy STR growth rate.
However their base stats will be affect by the change causing a good amount of immediate change.
Most units have alternate classes that have their natural growth rates in mind. Rosa for example can go from Pegasus Knight to Mage or Cleric, but her natural MAG growth is rather high.

There’s an error with a support: Reese-Varton B support, it gives me a black screen that I can skip, I don’t know it you forgot to insert the skip or there’s an error with the conversation if it exists.

Epiphanies are gained by kills or by maps participated? I’m asking for Kai since it’s kind of pain to reap kills with her.
EDIT.
Chapter 7x, there are 6 deployment slots for 5 characters (excluding forced ones), I’m pretty sure I haven’t skipped convos so is that an error or did I screw up something?

I’ll go and check out what the issue is with that support, haven’t had an issue with that before, but I’m sure it’s something simple.
I know what the issue is with 7x, I can fix that immediately. It’s a complication from the Gender Modifier, easily fixed.
And the epiphanies progress is made by kills and by using staffs on allies. Specifically included the staff part because I realized how hard it would be to farm kills for clerics lol

EDIT: Fix has been pushed. They were two simple issues from basically little more than typos. You’ll have to reload your 7x save to see the changes take effect.

Thanks! The 7x thing is no biggie, just a bit of paranoia that comes with having a free deployment slot but no character to deploy.

Well, I’m glad for the paranoia, or else I mighta let that typo slip for a lot longer.
Because it’s not just a free deployment slot but a missing unit, which is a little bigger of an issue haha.

I completed the chapter without the fix, I don’t think it will affect my save but it made the map a tad harder.
Sergio wasn’t killed when the time came because I had equipped a wind sword, Will this be an issue?

When you mentioned the gender issue the first thing that came to mind was warning you about Sidney not being included, then I played Sidney-Kai C support. One of the few cases were this issue is handled without being as annoying as a vegan, the character itself doesn’t seem keen on having everyone check their privilege or whine about pronouns.

Not having Duna for that map shouldn’t affect you in the long run, she’ll really just have a little less experience and won’t have had an opportunity to grab a cool weapon from 7x. And that’s actually hilarious about Sergio, that shouldn’t cause an issue, but I’ll definitely add a line or two to the outro to make sure everything happens as it should.

Yeah, Sidney is nonbinary, and while it isn’t like the focus of their character, it is a part of their identity and thus I decided it wouldn’t be fair to them to make it modifiable. There are two other units who aren’t included in the modifier options, Iodine and Gora’Luna. I’m more on the fence about them than Sidney, but at the moment I’m playing it safe.

And yeah sometimes gender stuff can feel forced or obtuse in nature. But I hope Sidney comes across as more than just their gender identity as more of their story is revealed.

Could you tell me the name of that weapon?

I haven’t met the other two characters but Sidney has always come across as a complete character though previous characters(In other media) set the bar too low, not being a preaching self-righteous prick is a great plus.

19/21 chapters… C’mon, it’s so close to be completed for the non-patreons too…

It’s called the Heirloom Axe, it’s a light affinity locked 1-2 range. Found in that seemingly empty house in the city proper of 7x. Duna has a special scene when investigated with her. Feel free to Debug it in if you have debug mode turned on.

And yeah, I like Sidney too. I basically had half the number of units in the original draft, and Sidney wasn’t in that first count. It would’ve been a worse game without them for sure.

I agree, start now and you’ll prolly be ready for the last chapters by the next release :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d rather wait for the full thing… Unless the last release is next year or something
