Baby's First PME (Submissions Closed! Patch Out! Only Eirika Route)⅝

Are you referring to the creature campaign bonus units? Would that mean that slot 10 is Lyon?

Would he join in the creature campaign or the main one?

Extras are extras, not slots used in the game at all, just a bunch of newbies and stuff. Hopefully that clears it up!

What determines their (personal) stats, then?

Nothing at all. I just gave the extras a 2 in everything and applied the boon and the bane.

Description: The emperor of Grado, freed. The Sacred Stone he absorbed empowers his attacks.

Other: Huh, giving him the stone actually worked.

Cracked on paper, but only if he gets enough exp in Last Hope (a map filled with human enemies that usually gets warpskipped on turn 2-4) to hit Vantage+ in time for Darkling Woods. Even then, he’s not fully comfortable vantage sweeping against high Spd enemies until he hits lv. 17 and grabs Hit +30, by which point the map/game’s pretty much already over. His MU vs. the demon king isn’t too hot either unless he’s the one getting the final blow, as the demon king has 1-3 range and one-rounds him if he gets the chance to counter.

Obscene in creature campaign but who plays that lmaoooooo

Answering some things

Apologies, but this won’t be happening. I’m not changing 1 thing just for 2 characters.

@TheEmeraldKing267 Right now, I wouldn’t really mind adding bosses, I do want to know if people would want it.

Sorry for the lack of updates, been busy with a few things. Some failed PME’s, helping out with AthenaBear’s PME, and daily life responsibilities. The Extra characters will be added, it’ll just take some more time ( Sorry for the extra wait ).

I mainly wanted to get something out and not leave people waiting for something else to come out for months on end. I hope this changes the game a bit and so it’s not a total wash to get through.

A massive thank you to @Someone for finding some bugs in the rom!

To end this off I want to ask if people would be interested in coming back to this PME to submit some bosses?

Thracia trading does not seem to work! I trade and back out, and that ends the unit’s turn, unlike what it should do, being just sending the unit back to their initial space. …that’s it for now, laaaaazy.

If you don’t mind at all, then I would be interested to change this PME further by changing the bosses of the game.

Good afternoon to all you ever-patient patrons :sunny: Today, on the one-month anniversary of the most recent message by good ol’ AlemOwl (and funny weed day :333), I, Athena the Baer of Boredom and Ambition, bring you all a new patch because I was bored out of my mind and wanted something fun to do :upside_down_face: You might be asking, “Well, what does this patch do? Any new characters, any new items, skills, etc.?” Well, I’m glad you asked! Today, I bring you the beginnings of a remake of this PME :sparkling_heart: Why, you may ask? Well, it’s very elementary, really: A.) I just needed something to do to procrastinate on important life decisions because I’m physically incapable of being a functional human being :slightly_smiling_face:, and B.) I can’t stand the old version anymore because of just how botched and amateurish it is (which, like, yeah, makes sense, but when you can’t even swap out the goddam Lord classes properly, which is one of the easier things to accomplish, it makes me want to tear my hair out ). So, I aim to help polish this PME to a prime playable position…by redoing the whole thing altogether because that’s always a brilliant decision :upside_down_face: However, this does give me the opportunity to (at least as of now) balance the cast to make their more anemic qualities less pronounced (not fixed, just less of a bothersome vein popper), so many of the early game cast that felt out of place and gimmicky can now actually be viable in this easy-ass Fire Emblem game :two_hearts: Hopefully, this means you’ll have a lot more fun with this very wacky cast and maybe even grow to like some of them more which is always a plus :333

Now, I want to make one thing clear: This is indeed a fresh version of the ROM, and as such, it’s still basically vanilla but with slightly crazier units; on top of that, there’s no Skill System, there’s no MMB, there’s nothin’. Finally, I’ve only gone up to Lyn so far because I’ve wanted to ensure the cast was adequately balanced, which involved multiple test runs for several characters to confirm everything was perfect. As such, the rest of the cast beyond that is standard Sacred Stones. However, I still hope you have a fun time nonetheless :revolving_hearts: With that all being said, I hope you enjoy~ :heartpulse:

Changes List:

  • Tancred: Name changed to Rylan, and his portrait has been given purple skin to match the Elvish version of the name (D&D Elvish, species is Drow; however, the name is not in the Drow language :upside_down_face:), +2 Lvl, +1 HP, +Spd Boon, +Lck Boon (and an extra point on top), -Res Bane x2
  • Ryan: Reclassed from Swordmaster → Hero
  • Sloane: +1 Lvl, +Lck Boon (and an extra point on top)
  • Bulk Bogan: Revoked HP Bane, +2 Lvl, +Lck Boon, +Def Boon, -Res Bane x2
  • Emma: Revoked Lck Bane, +1 Lvl, +Mag Boon, -Res Bane; from there, bumped up to average stats at Level 10, then promoted into Bishop - retroactively rolls her back to Level 1, Staff Rank - C → B, Heal swapped for Physic (inventory is now Mend, Recover, Physic, Pure Water)
  • Lyn: Checked personal boxes for Steal and Thief Utility
  • Chapter 4: Added a new deployment slot to encourage training Lyn in this chapter

Explanations:

  • Rylan: Stats-wise, he just stunk for me during my test runs, always not having enough bulk or Avoid to reliably go for YOLO/suicide strategies, which may not be as big a deal as I’m making it out to be, but now it’ll be a lot easier to use him for this task. After all, all good magic-wielding characters are dodge tanks :333. As for the Res banes, I just thought that Res is a glorified dump stat in SS and a good way to essentially game the system, considering that not only do you not fight magic users all that much in this game, but when you especially do so with the Mogalls, Rylan already has Light magic, so he’s always at WTA. Trust me. He’ll be okay :two_hearts: As for why I gave him two levels: My thought was that since you gain a level for having two boons and one bane, the same must be accurate for every new boon on top. My idea was that for each additional boon, there must be a new bane to balance it out; it’s a classic Taijitu dynamic, so yeah :woman_shrugging:
:elf:: As for all the character changes…this story is a doozy, but please bear with me. In terms of his complexion, it all started as a result of me changing his palette to more closely match the NPC palette for the Thaumaturge class because it just looked nicer, which then gave me this for his portrait because I wanted to be consistent between the mug and the animation because I’m very nitpicky about that kind of thing:
    Tancred (NPC Palette) {Alanzo, CherryBaer}
However, because of this, the bottom two tones of his skin were colored to be like the shirt color of the palette since they’re also put on the collar of the portrait. To remedy this, I did a whole bunch of number-crunching to get a skin complexion that didn’t look awkward with those two colors in mind to get this, which is slightly similar to Sloane’s and Nemesis’:
    Rylan Palette
However, this still wasn’t enough because it ended up looking washed-out to me, so I worked from the brightest tone down, doing even more number-crunching by taking the differences between Cormag’s colors (since that’s the face used for Baby Boy here) and slapping them onto each new color here (look, it was a tedious process, but hey, I got something good out of it which is the real victory here) :purple_heart: As such, I finally ended up with something that looked like this:
Rylan New Skin Palette (To be honest, this isn’t…the most attractive thing of all time, but dammit, I’m proud of this after all that hard work, let me have this :triumph: I might finally make that splice I promised so long ago though because I both don’t want this to be the thing people remember most about him and have a different idea for his character :green_heart:). Regardless, it then nicely bled into why I decided to change his name:
So, I slowly began to hate Tancred as a name for this character, not just because it technically was already used by IntSys before, even though it was in a way that you could ignore it (it was a random name option for male Nohrian prisoners in Fates; either way, I still hate double-dipping regardless and try to avoid it wherever I can), but it just didn’t fit the vision I had for him as a character. Its meaning makes some sense for a prince, but it still doesn’t feel right; if anything, it makes more sense for a tactician than a prince. And so, inspired by the change in complexion, I got the idea to make him a Dark Elf instead of a human because no human would have purple skin, plus Dark Elves/Night Elves/whatever are probably the most famous fantasy species with purple skin; plus, I mean, come on, why not have a Dark Elf in a game with centaurs and zombies and giant floating eyeballs? :sparkling_heart: So, I looked up “Dark Elf” on Google as one does, stumbled upon the Drow race of D&D fame, and remembered that the “Fantasy Name Generators” site has a dedicated collection for D&D characters (by the way, check out that site if you need some inspiration, it’s epic and amazing and based B333). So I went to that section, clicked on the Drow name generator, and saw that the first result I got upon loading the page was “Ryldoj Arabiryn.” I thought this was a good name for him, so I went with that :heart_decoration: However when I went to look up what that meant in the Drow language, I couldn’t find anything :mending_heart: So I decided on just sticking to regular Elvish, found the book “Races of the Wild” (which is more built around 3.5e but whatever :upside_down_face:) that has a dedicated chapter for the elves and a section on their language including naming structure, and cross-referenced from there. But since it was focused on normal Elvish and not Drow, I found the prefix “Ry-” but not “Ryl-” or the suffix “-doj,” so I decided on “Ry-” as the prefix and went with a suffix that started with L, bled easily from that, and was easy to pronounce so people who haven’t played a lick of D&D (including me) could still understand it. As such, “Rylan” was born :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::angel: If you’re curious, it means either “Jade Son” or “Son of Jade” depending on how you choose to read it :333 All that being said (G-Zuz Christ by the way), it is a real-world English-speaking name too which is just fun.
Anyway, one last thing before I stop my inane, insane rambling: you might be wondering, “Okay, that’s all well and good, Athena, but is there an in-world explanation for all this since elves didn’t exist in vanilla SS?” If you didn’t, then…uh… But don’t worry, for there is! My headcanon is that Ryldoj is his birth name, but he got abandoned by his tribe as a baby (very sadge). Luckily, Fado soon found him alone in the woods, took him in, and decided to adopt him so the child would have some sort of parent protecting them. When it came time to think of a name for the baby, he saw the pointed ears the baby had, remembering that it’s a trait commonly associated with elves (and Manaketes, too, but they’re not important), grabbed an Elvish dictionary from his library, and thought “Well, my armor is jade-colored, and this child is now my son, so Jade Son…Rylan :green_heart:
And with all that, holy shit. I’m done :face_with_spiral_eyes: Sorry for all that. I just really needed to make sure I covered all my bases and ensured you got the complete story  Fortunately, pretty much everyone else should be relatively painless to explain by comparison (except for Emma, but we’ll get there). So I suppose I’ll start with:
  • Ryan: To me, this is pretty much an objective buff because since the class stats for Swordmaster and Hero are pretty much identical, you’re only losing two points of Skl, a crit boost, and access to the essentially worthless Shamshir in exchange for one HP, three points of Defense, two points of Con, and an entire second weapon type in axes which also includes fucking Hand Axes (which also means I can give him back that second A-rank Seth had). I’d say that’s a pretty open-and-shut case, and I will not be taking constructive criticism at this time :triumph: Also, I may or may not change his name at some point soon, not only because his mug actually has a name in Miguel, but because having two characters named Ryan and Rylan in the same chapter can get very confusing and very annoying, so yeah :woman_shrugging:
  • Sloane: This gives her slightly higher Avoid, which is always good :heart_decoration: Though this means that she has two boons and thus gains a level because of it, but to me, that’s just a small price to pay for salvation. Also, I wanted to try and follow the Community Commandments closely, not because this would make it a better hack, but because I feel like they’re reliable ways to improve a hack (this especially followed #14 written by Leche).
  • Bulk Bogan: Firstly, I revoked his HP bane because I thought it was completely unnecessary, considering he already caps his HP anyways, so why bother nerfing it? Plus, it does mean he has slightly better bulk, which is both always a good thing and fitting because his name is “Bulk,” after all :face_with_hand_over_mouth: To compensate, I instead gave him his first Res bane because, again, Res is not very important at all in this game, especially since Bulk comes with a Pure Water in his inventory to mitigate that issue. But during testing, I found that his increased HP wasn’t quite enough to be a reliable tank, so to remedy this, I gave him a Defense boon for further bulk, which also meant giving him a level. But even then, this still wasn’t enough because of just how often he’d get hit, so to remedy this, I gave him a Luck boon for a further boost to his Avoid, and because of my rules, I gave him a second Res bane because Res is a dump and another level to balance things out. Hopefully, Bulk should now be a more reliable unit where he can work better on the front lines.
  • Lyn: Come on, you knew this was necessary. I don’t understand why this wasn’t a thing in the original version because Lyn is the Colm replacement, and as such, putting Colm into any other class means he loses his thieving skills because they’re tied to his class and not himself. So, I fixed that. You’re welcome :sunglasses: And while this isn’t necessarily a buff to her specifically, adding another deployment slot to Chapter 4 is certainly good for her, so you can train her in this map if you so desire (especially if you’re against using Seth or his replacements in the early chapters of this pathetically easy-ass FE game) without sacrificing someone else’s time in the spotlight :green_heart: Also, I fixed the blinking frames of her portrait too cause they looked off :two_hearts: And now, last but certainly not least, probably my favorite unit so far and the one I am the most proud of :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::
  • Emma: Hoo boy, this is another doozy of a story, but please bear with me; I’ll try my best to make this coherent :sparkling_heart: Firstly, I revoked her Luck bane because, like with Bogan’s HP bane, I just thought it was completely unnecessary because while yes Luck is considered a dump stat alongside Skill and Res, considering she only starts with four from Vanessa, that just felt cruel. Instead, I put that into Res since again Res is not valuable in this game, plus she starts with nine anyways, so nerfing it to 7 is not that big a deal, I promise. I also gave her a Magic boon to help with healing (and with something else I’ll get to later ), and since she has two boons, she has to gain a level. After this, chronologically, I boosted her staff rank from C to B and swapped her Heal staff for a Physic staff instead. This way, she can heal Derek from the other side of the mountains, thus saving his life and giving you wiggle room to fly over with Sloane and rescue his ass. Plus, this means I don’t need to give him all of his skills immediately to make him competent in this chapter, which is a bonus :333 And finally, after all of that, in one of my favorite changes I have ever made so far, I decided that since I needed more Physic range and because her description states she’s a bishop instead of just a regular nun, I decided to make her a Bishop! Why? Because I could and you couldn’t stop me >:333 Plus, I mean, having two Jagens, especially a second with massive healing and Warp potential and Slayer, is better than just one Jagen. Can we all agree on that? No? Cool, I’m just going to ignore that. Anyways, how did I do this, you may ask? More number-crunching, of course! I calculated her average stats with these changes at Level 10, swapped her into Female Bishop, added in the promo gains, and wrapped her back to Level 1; after all that…words could not express how happy I was :face_holding_back_tears: She was beautiful, she was strong, she was perfect :kissing_closed_eyes::ok_hand: Yes, her stats are lower than Ryan’s by a mile, and they definitely feel nerfed compared to his, but that’s just because I don’t entirely know what internal level he’s working with (or rather, what level he was before promotion and how many stats he gained in-between). Besides, being a staff bot, she doesn’t really need stats and her growths will iron that out  And you might be thinking, “But Athena, won’t that just invalidate Nemesis and Audino?” No, not really, to be honest. Those two have Valkyrie access, which makes them automatically better than her since she’s already been promoted to the “worst” of the two promotions. And even if you decided on Bishop!Nemesis and Bishop!Audino, not only would they have better skills than Emma (though the funny Counter + Countermagic build is peak comedy), but they’ll be better Bishops regardless because they’ve had so much more time to grow over her. Besides…I’m contemplating adding in a Female Bishop Triangle Attack to further boost Bishop’s viability :flushed::point_right::point_left: I don’t know about you, but that could be fuckin hilarious and awesome because, I mean, the tools are there, there’s precedent for wacky Triangle Attacks before (Fighters in FE12, Knights in FE6) and even precedent for two-ranged triangle attacks (Green Bros in FE10), why not make the dream happen? When you’ve got the ball in your hands and are so close to the net, are you just not allowed to dunk it?! I don’t know. I’ll leave it up to you guys to vote on that in a poll below. Democracy! But first,

Holy shit, I can’t even believe you’re still fuckin alive after all that reading :cold_sweat: If you did and finally made it this far, thank you so much  Again, I just wanted to cover all my bases and ensure you got the full story on all these changes so you weren’t left in the dark and baffled :heartpulse: If you didn’t…fair enough, but also screw you, that’s very rude of you, you’re going to time-out so you can think about what you’ve done  And I better expect an apology afterward! :triumph: After:

Alright, the poll. Or, in this case, the polls because I have a second question that I would like your answers to. First, the Bishop one:

Should the Female Bishops get access to a triangle attack?
  • Yes, that’d be awesome
  • No, that’d be stupid
0 voters

Then, one related to Lyn:

Should Lyn have the “Lord Unit” box checked?
  • Yes, that’d be awesome
  • No, that’d be stupid
0 voters

Why, you may ask? Because I mean, her class is named “Dark Lord,” and she’s just going to be a Magvelian version of Lyn, so why not? Plus, it’d probably encourage you to train her even more, which is a perk :333

With all that being said (over 3200 words, by the way, G-Zuz Christ), I shall finally leave you to play this patch :revolving_hearts: Let me know what you think - feedback, remarks, bug reports, et cetera! Enjoy~

Alright, guys, gals and ghems, the polls have now closed, and in a unanimous sweep…of four votes, one of which was mine…Female Bishops shall have a triangle attack, and Lyn shall be classified as a Lord Unit :sparkling_heart: I’m not quite sure how either would work (especially the Triangle Attack because I don’t know how to change how the triangle attacks work or how it would even function ). But hey! That’s what trying’s for :two_hearts:

Regardless, thank you to Ignis, AnneEgge, and Aswink for voting, and expect a patch by the 30th :heart_decoration:

Good timezones, guys, gals, and ghems  I’m back to release v0.02, which you can find in the download link either in that massive post above me or in the OP :sparkling_heart: This update doesn’t change that much stuff, but it should hopefully be a fun experience regardless :two_hearts: Now, of course, in my infinite hubris, I’m going to refresh this ROM so I can better include the new idea I have for Rylan, so stay tuned for whenever that happens :heart_decoration: Otherwise, I hope you enjoy~:heart::heart:

Changes List:

  • Ryan: Name changed to Miguel
  • Lyn: Personal “Lord Unit” box checked (sadly doesn’t do anything just yet, oops :upside_down_face:), +1 Lvl, +Def Boon, -Skill Bane
  • Hoss: Added! :333

Explanations:

  • Ryan: I mean, it’s just a name change. That’s all. Why? Because I just wanted to help ease the confusion between him and Rylan. That’s it.
  • Lyn: As per democracy (of four votes), she is now technically a Lord unit! Although, like I said, she sadly can’t seize things yet :crying_cat_face: But hey! At least it’s there :333. Otherwise, I just gave her a Defense boon so she isn’t as squishy, and I reduced her Skill alongside it cause it’s a dump stat for a swordswoman like her, and since it’s so high, I could comfortably reduce it with little risk. And I gave her a level for good measure.

Gooooood morning, guys, gals, and ghems :heavy_heart_exclamation::sunny: I’m back to release v0.03, which you should know how to find by now :sparkling_heart: Unlike the last patch that only changed two units, this patch is very much like the first, but unlike that patch, every single unit (up to Hoss still :crying_cat_face:) got touched up in some way shape or form, the details of which I shall provide later in an edit :two_hearts: On top of that, there are plenty of new weapons (including a few personals ;333), some new treasures to find, a couple of enemy changes, and more! Hopefully, this shall be an even more rewarding experience than what came before it :heart_decoration: And with all that said, I shall leave you to go and have fun and play this very wacky game :333 Feel free to leave any feedback down below especially on the weapon and enemy balance because I know they need some tweaking to make them fit just right  Enjoy!~

Changes List:

  • Rylan: Class swapped from Thaumaturge → Mage Lord (still Light/Dark, Infantry instead, Eliwood-style w/ some Chrom thrown in; a.k.a. the whole reason for this reset :upside_down_face:), from there (since starting from scratch) +Mag Boon, +Spd Boon (and an extra point on top), +Lck Boon, +1 Def, -Skl Bane, -Res Bane
  • Miguel: +1 Lvl, +1 Str, +1 Lck, +Def Boon (and an extra point on top), finally received a palette
  • Sloane: +1 Lvl, +Def Boon, +1 Res, -Skl Bane, +Tolerance, +Shield Spear, finally received a Tier 1 palette
  • Bulk Bogan: +1 Vulnerary
  • Emma: +1 Mag
  • Snow: +1 Str, +1 Lck, +Caladbolg
  • Derek: +15% to all growths, +1 Spd/Def, revoked Res bane and instead placed into Lck, Ax rank boosted from D → C, +Barrier Ax, Steel Ax → Killer Ax
  • Tess: +2 Lvl, +Spd Boon, +Lck Boon, -1 Res, +Barrier Blade
  • Nemesis: +1 Lck, +1 Vulnerary
  • Lyn: +1 Str, Sword rank boosted from D → C, +Gullin Katti
  • Hoss: +1 Vulnerary
  • Prolog: Swapped left Fighter’s unit ID from 82 → 80, promoted right Fighter into Warrior with Class Dependent auto-level (very important!)
  • Ch1: Changed rightmost Soldier’s and bottommost Fighter’s AIs from 03 + 12 → 00
  • Ch3: Placed droppable Blue Gem on Brigand guarding the treasure room
  • Ch5: +2 Deployment, placed droppable Barrier Lance on leftmost Soldier closest to starting area

Explanations:

  • Rylan: Welp, here he is, the guy who spawned the restart of the ROM in the first place. You might wonder, “Well, why did you change his class? Doesn’t he accomplish the same tasks but slower now?” Oh ho ho, dear viewer, you don’t even know half of it. So, the thing with Thaumaturge!Rylan last patch was that I built his class around Fates’ Troubadour, which, while still better than the GBA version (for one thing, it has an actual fucking Magic stat lol ), still had terrible bases, which stings even more when you realize the fact that pretty much all of Eirika’s stats come from her class cause she has 0’s in all her unit bases, so I essentially had to fight to make Rylan tolerable to use while stuck with this handicap…and obviously, I lost. To remedy this, I’ve just given him an actual Lord class instead, in a form very close to Eliwood’s utilizing the Magic!Eliwood animation, formerly created by TytheBub for DLatMoL and released to the public, was then modified by Seliost1 to make a proper Eliwood animation wielding Magic. And since I was starting from scratch anyway, I decided to switch his attributes to +Mag +Spd -Skl to accentuate his best qualities of doubling the early-game scrub enemies and dealing BIG magical damage. Plus, I felt like +Def would’ve been a bit of a waste considering he already has 6 Defense from his class (totaling seven if you include his unit base), which is extremely good for an early-game mage, and -Skl felt natural to be his bane because he already has very high accuracy from wielding Light tomes so he’ll be fine there :green_heart: After that, I gave him a Luck boon and a Res bane to keep in line with what came before, plus I still believe that Res is not as significant on him as it would be for others like Derek for the reasons I already explained back in 0.01 :purple_heart: And finally, I gave him +1 Spd and +1 Def so Rylan could reach the Renais Twins’ higher caps in those respective areas for the funnies :333 Overall, I think he should now be an acutely fun unit to work with :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Overtuned? Certainly. Enjoyable despite that? Absolutely :heartpulse:
  • Miguel: I mean, he didn’t really need much of a buff at all, considering he’s the Seth replacement and all, but I still felt like he was a little frail for a Hero, so I gave him a Defense boon to help boost his vitality just enough (and funnily enough, it saves him from being one-shot by the Warrior if you’re using the “Shigueld” strat as I call it, oops). And, of course, because of the rules, I needed to give him a level to compensate. Even still, I felt like something was still off with him, and I realized that he had a whole bunch of unlucky 13s in his stat line, and that will not fly in this household :triumph: As such, I boosted his Str, Lck, and Def by 1 to remedy this. And finally, after all that, he now has a proper battle palette after so long  I’ll admit, it’s not the most visually striking thing ever, but hey, it’s well-deserved. Plus, I still think it looks nice despite that :orange_heart:
  • Sloane: I suppose real quick before I get to the stat stuff, TOLERANCE IS IN BABYYY!!!:partying_face::partying_face: Finally, she has her special lance! Now, let me get one thing clear first: It does not have the Mercy command available yet because I will remind you again that there’s no Skill System here yet, but I still think it’ll be a very fun lance to work with :purple_heart: In terms of raw stats, it’s functionally just a 3H Silver Lance+ with eight uses as VelvetKitsune requested; I don’t think it’s much different from what it was in the original PME, but I might have to double check anyways. Even though it doesn’t allow her to set up kills for the other characters (where I ask, “Why would you go through the trouble, and who’s getting them since everyone here’s pretty damn good already?”), it should still suffice in its functionality as a high-damage lance ideal for getting kills you couldn’t otherwise with ordinary weaponry, for instance getting one-shots on all the Soldiers since they suck ass in the GBA games :two_hearts: Anyways, now onto the stat stuff. Firstly, the Res is just there to make sure it doesn’t underflow anymore and thus wrap back around and accidentally cap itself, and that’s also why I gave her the Shield Spear and later the droppable Barrier Lance: so she can still have high Res, something she desperately needs, but as a conditional, where you have to use either weapon if you want the boost actively. Speaking of the Shield Spear, I gave her that so she can tank more effectively with the +5 Def it grants because, in one of my tests, she got lucky crit’d by Joshua and one-rounded, so her Defense was certainly just too low, so this on top of the Defense boon should let her take plenty more damage than she could previously. Also, per the rules, I balanced it out with the Skl bane for flavor cause Sloane’s wearing an eyepatch and thus would have lower accuracy when compared to the rest of the cast and the extra level for good measure. And finally, much like Miguel, she too has a battle palette after so long without one  However, it’s still very much a WIP palette, as I’ve yet to change the wyvern from the original player-aligned class colors, and I could use some feedback on it if you do have any (though I think I did an acceptable job with what I could), but I hope that along with the rest of these very appealing changes give best girl the justice she truly deserves :sparkling_heart:
  • Bulk Bogan: The only thing I’ve done to him is give him a Vulnerary because A.) I accidentally swapped out Tess’s Elixir for a Vulny in one of my tests, so to help with the feelsbad of losing out on that, I just put it into Bulk’s instead, and B.) I mean, honestly, it really should’ve been there all along :333 Although one thing I didn’t put in the notes (because I didn’t think it was all that important to mention) is that he doesn’t have his Defense boon because I surprisingly found that it was easier to keep him alive than in the previous version, so he’s still Level 5 now :upside_down_face:
  • Emma: The only thing I’ve done to her is give her an extra point of Magic chiefly for flavor because all it does is boost the range of Physic by one so it reaches the coveted 1-5 range, but I feel like it’s more in-character and less of a bother :green_heart:
  • Snow: The main thing with her stats-wise is that the +1 Str helps her reach the Great Knight cap on average…if you’re masochistic enough to send her into Great Knight, and the +1 Lck helps kill the underflow problem in that stat, much like the Res boost on Sloane. However, speaking of Luck, you might’ve noticed the “+Caladbolg” in her notes, and your eyes don’t deceive you, for I have indeed given her the Caladbolg, ripped straight from Radiant Dawn, Luck boost and all, which hopefully means that she can deal damn good damage to any bosses or late-game enemies while not scaring you half to death with a low-percentage critical hit from said boss or late-game enemy :sparkling_heart: I know this may seem like indulgence, but A.) it’s the only goddamn sword in Fire Emblem history that grants a Luck boost just by equipping it, so I kind of had no other choice, and B.) for a mysterious woman like her, I felt it was fitting since God only knows if she’s been to Tellius before :upside_down_face: And while this all will make it much harder to set up kills with her in the early chapters of this pathetically easy game (something I am hoping to address later ;3), it should still help keep her relevant in the later chapters (which was already guaranteed by the fact she can promote into Paladin, one of the best classes in the whole damn game) :heartpulse:
  • Derek: Hoooooo boy, Derek… God, this unit is such a character. I mean, he’s literally just Ross as a Fighter, but without those nine extra level-ups to help boost his stats and no promotion gains. Honestly, he’s a joke character to me, plain and simple, and it doesn’t help that he’s using that one JiroPaiPai mug titled “The Edgiest Miniboss” So to make him less of a joke, I needed to give him plenty of buffs to make him viable. First up: his growth total. In Petey’s original post, he put down growths that totaled up to three-hundred-and-five percent, in a ROM where Rylan has a 415% GRT (if you’re not including his 10% Str growth), which fun fact is the same GRT as Chrom Fire Emblem Awakening, and in the same ROM where the other units are not far behind (Hell, Snow has a 425%). A 305% GRT in this ROM is unacceptably awful, so I boosted all of his growths (including his currently unused Magic growth) by 15% to get him that coveted 425% when every growth gets utilized. Hopefully, this should help him grow way more than he ever could before :brown_heart: Next up was buffing his Str and Def by one so he could reach Hero caps on average, but this also helps his early-game combat if only by a smidge, where now he should dish out a little more damage and take a little more punishment than usual, which is very much needed for him :blue_heart: From there, I revoked his Res bane so it doesn’t underflow anymore and instead put that bane into Luck, which was the only stat I could realistically nerf besides HP since the rest of his stats are hot garbage and he needs every point he can get…still feels bad though :crying_cat_face: After that, I gave him a C-rank in axes instead of his old D-rank so he could wield the Barrier Ax made primarily for him, though it does allow him to wield better axes faster, especially anything better than that fucking worthless Steel Ax, like genuinely come ON :triumph: Speaking of that Steel Ax, you bet your big fat fanny I swapped that shit out, because in my opinion, that weapon choice is inexcusable when he only has eleven Constitution to work with, so I instead gave him a Killer Ax where it once stood because A.) He has C-rank axes now, so why not give him the iconic C-rank ax? and B.) His stats again suck ass, so why not give him a tool that allows him to disintegrate anything he needs to kill but couldn’t with a standard Iron Ax? Sure, it’s self-indulgence, but this is my ROM, dammit! I can do whatever I want because I am God! Anyways, Derek should hopefully be a much more worthwhile candidate for a Hero Crest and a worthy rival to Bulk Bogan because while Bulk may have the better stat line and thus have better combat overall, Derek has all these wacky tools at his disposal to make quick work of any enemy that dare cross his path :smirk_cat:
  • Tess: She’s already pretty good as is, but the Luck boon gives her that coveted 5 Lck as described by Community Commandment #14, and the Speed boon helps her reach the Ranger cap for the funnies :333 (plus, realistically, until I begin class and especially promotion balancing, it’s her only good class since it actually gives her promotion gains :upside_down_face:). Then, I gave her a Res bane to counteract the Speed, but then boosted that by one so it doesn’t underflow, so yes, that -1 Res is as it’s supposed to be. And to compensate for that lack of Res, she gets a Barrier Blade. I don’t have much else to add. She’s just slightly better at being a Mercenary now, so go nuts, I guess ¯_(ツ)_/¯
  • Nemesis: Aaannnddd this one is even simpler to explain: +1 Lck gives her that 5 Lck as described by Community Commandment #14, and the Vulnerary should’ve been there all along, especially on a woman as fragile as a glass house. I don’t know what else you want from me. I want to go back to bed
  • Lyn: This girl’s another easy one to explain, but not without some context: As you most likely know if you’ve played this version, Lyn is now Level 4, and if you remember how she was in FE7, she joins you in all the other modes besides hers, especially in HHM since that’s the one everybody and their grandmas plays, at Level 4, so in my opinion, it would only make sense to have this Lyn match the stats of her AU counterpart (or at least, bump up anything lower than those to that level). As such, that means giving her +1 Str (which does help out her damage output) and boosting that sword rank from D to C so she can wield the Killing Edge and Lancereaver at base :sunglasses: And of course, I also had to give her the Gullin Katti as well :heart_decoration: Don’t worry, the description does tell you what it’s effective against. Also, I am planning on giving you the Mani Katti for her to wield since it’s in the Item Editor and just begging to be put in. However, I’m not sure when it would be an acceptable time to give it to you since the game seems pretty balanced around the fact it doesn’t exist, but most likely sometime before Ch12 Eirika since that’s where you fight the most horses on that route cause of Aias and friends. So yeah, stay tuned for that, and I hope Lyn gives you a lot more satisfaction than she did previously :yellow_heart:
  • Hoss: Yup…it’s just a Vulnerary that should’ve been there all along. sigh Okay, look, I wanted to buff him a bunch, much like Derek, chiefly since it would help immensely with his character of, y’know, being a PROFESSIONAL monster and bounty hunter, but I couldn’t really find anything wrong with him, so for now, he’s still a middle-of-the-road borderline enemy-generic-ass Mercenary who at least can go into Hero without suffering considerable consequences, but who otherwise doesn’t stand out much from the rest of the many sword-locked early-game cast. Like seriously, your class distribution is garbage. Jeez.
  • Prolog: I changed up the left Fighter because I wanted him to pose a little bit more of a threat (keyword, a little), and why such a thing was given to him even though that unit sucks complete ass is beyond me. I suppose it was handy for him to have that ID for the Tutorial since that makes it easier for Eirika to kill him with that critical hit, but genuinely, who cares? Nobody plays Easy Mode anyway; it’s always about Difficult Mode, which isn’t even difficult, yippee  Anyways, the right Fighter got promoted into a Warrior because that was in Taylor’s Version, and thus, I must respect it. However, more importantly, I assigned him Class Dependent auto-leveling, so he wasn’t a complete joke (as shown by the fact that he gets eighteen Strength on average and nearly one-shots 13-HP Miguel). So yeah, hopefully, that should make this chapter more worthwhile no matter what strategy you go for
  • Chapter 1: This one’s also easy to explain: It’s just a couple of AI changes where the Soldier and Fighter both…move automatically without hesitating before advancing towards you because that always bothered me, so now this chapter should be a lot more engaging than it was before, what with you having to plan your moves out a little more than you did previously :two_hearts:
  • Chapter 3: Another simple one: I just added a Blue Gem on the inventory of the Brigand guarding the treasure room mainly for flavor since A.) Lyn starts with a Blue Gem in FE7 if you skip her story, and since I want this Lyn to mirror her AU counterpart closely, as I’ve stated earlier, it would only make sense for you to be able to acquire one here and B.) I feel like Brigands, as a character type, would be holding or wielding expensive items they stole from the locals, and since they stole those themselves, why can’t we? >:3 Furthermore, I believe this idea is supported by the fact that the early-game Cutthroats in Taylor’s Version also hold or wield expensive items as well, items which either drop from their corpses or that you need to capture the holder/wielder to obtain :heartpulse: So uh, yeah, if you don’t like this, then you can whimper and cry like a wah-wah baby :sunglasses: Oh, and the reason I made it droppable was simple: Lyn would just automatically kill that guy with the Katti, and thus, you would have no time to Steal it from him :upside_down_face: And with that, finally:
  • Chapter 5: One last easy one to explain: two extra deployment slots to encourage training your scrubs in this chapter, especially in the Arena (and yes, I am planning on you being able to deploy everyone, including Miguel :sparkling_heart:), and the droppable Barrier Lance for Sloane :333

Holy shit, I can’t even believe you’re still fuckin alive after all that reading (over 3600 words total from before and after, G-Zuz Christ :cold_sweat: If you did and finally made it this far, thank you so much  Again, I just wanted to cover all my bases and ensure you got the full story on all these changes so you weren’t left in the dark and baffled :heart_decoration: If you didn’t…fair enough, but also screw you, that’s very rude of you, you’re going to time-out so you can think about what you’ve done  And I better expect an apology afterward! :triumph: But before you go, you know how I said I was hoping to address the difficulty of this game later on (or lack thereof)…well…

Yes, I abused the Ch5 Arena to get these ludicrous numbers, but it was for science! What kind of science, you may ask? Well, this was mainly to test how the high Awakening-level growths interact with the low GBA stat caps, and…yeah, this is a bit much, lol  I mean, I even boosted Rylan’s Tier 1 caps to Chrom’s, and he would still cap Speed under the old 20’s cross the board, and Sloane capped Strength and almost capped Skill and Defense. I suppose these are the consequences of “growths over bases.” To remedy this, I would either need to nerf some of these (for example, 5% of Rylan’s Speed goes into Strength and 5% of Sloane’s Strength goes into Resistance, etc.) or boost the class caps to Awakening-level ones instead. So yeah, stay tuned for what I’ve got in store next time~ :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Hello! …Sloane having atrocious RES is very much character important. Short version is her race has exceptional magical prowess and Sloane’s affinity for any magic-related thing leaves much to be desired to put it kindly, she makes up for it with pure martial skill and all that. …sorta like Asta from Black Clover now that I’m thinking of it, huh.

Ah, I didn’t know it was just to keep it from underflowing, that’s totally cool, hah.
