Introduction
Welcome! This thread serves as the main place for the Apple silicon Mac port of FEBuilder, including announcements, bug reports, suggestions, and community help. (Sorry Intel Macs, I don’t own one and I cannot test it out)
This project builds on the work of Laqieer, who helped port FEBuilder to different platforms, including Apple Silicon Mac. The Mac port has been an open secret for a while, but now I’m making the Alpha build more publicly known to the community.
I’ve spent time debugging the port and contributed a fix for a persistent bug. With Laqieer’s permission, I am continuing development of the Mac build.
Disclosure & Warnings
AI Disclosure
AI coding tools and AI agents have been used extensively in porting FEBuilder to MacOS. Future updates will be developed using a mix of handwritten or AI assisted code. I will disclose AI involvement in each update.
Limitation
This project is an Alpha build. Expect bugs, missing features, non parity with the Windows release, and other numerous issues. I cannot guarantee that you can create an entire hack from this build. I recommend using WINE to get the Windows FEBuilder working if need be.
Bricking your rom is a real risk! Use it at your own risk! Please protect your work!
As always, create backups of your hack, test on copies of your project, and save regularly.
Irregular Updates
I am a beginner developer, and I have personal time commitments in real life. I cannot guarantee quick bug fixes or updates regularly.
Contributions are welcome from contributing code, fixing bugs, documentation, or sharing what you did publicly can help improve the project!
Installation

Download avalonia-osx-arm64.zip from the latest release & unzip it:

Open your terminal and type cd:

Now drag your unzip folder avalonia-osx-arm64 and drag it to the terminal window

Afterwards you need to type (or copy & paste)
xattr -cr .into the terminal window. Don’t worry about the line it will just unquarantine FEBuilder.

To open FEBuilder, now type this command
./FEBuilderGBA.Avalonia

Viola you should see this
You finish the installation! Congrats on your first start. I recommend saving ./FEBuilderGBA.Avalonia somewhere as you type it in each time you want open FEBuilder.
Bug Reports & Missing Features
Found a bug or encountered a feature that is missing?
Report it on Github (preferred), reply in this thread, and clearly state that it is a bug or missing feature!
More private? You can message me here or DM in discord. I may publish it as an issue on Github, but I will seek permission if you want to share it on Github. I will also anonymize you if need be.
Please do not upload copyrighted files like ROM when reporting an issue or reply in the thread!
