Units like Serra, or Ellen, or Treck, etc. are what I like to call “draft pick units.”
That means units that are servicabe but you really wouldn’t use them if you could help it?
More just that they’re good enough but outclassed by somebody else who does their job better. Why use Ellen when Saul exists, Serra when Priscilla exists, Treck when every other cavalier exists, etc. But in a draft, where you’re not guaranteed to have all those great units who would outclass them, they get to shine.
finally, someone understands! serra is the best gameplay unit because by using her, you increase your enjoyment of the game :)))
Assuming you draft them
I think that Lot and Wade from FE6 are pretty underappreciated, they provide good damage early game even without a support (though it can help), and considering the first nine chapters are seen as the worst parts of FE6 having two big damage dealers can be helpful, sure they won’t always hit but they’re decently bulky enough to be able to afford a miss or two.
Once you get into mid game the two do start to fall of pretty badly, their poor accuracy starts to become an issue, however promoting one of them gives them a large boost to skill allowing them to keep up, the main drawback of this is of course that rutger and dieck want that hero crest as much as they do, however just because two units can outclass them greatly doesn’t mean they should be undervalued themselves.
they’re not great units but they can work a hell of a lot better than the units they’re grouped with like the armor knights and sophia, both of these examples require you to slow down for them which is never a good thing, however assuming we aren’t holding the hero crest competition against them the axebros can work well without slowing down much at all.
Neimi from FE8.
Archers are not good in most of FE games, but Neimi is not terrible.
True that Neimi starts off with not the brightest stats, but she’s the only archer you get.
That means nobody will have to fight for the ONLY Orion’s Bolt. She reaches Lv 10 and she’s ready to get juicy Ranger promotion gains. +3 Con without the need of Con Ring.
45% on STR is at least average compared to Eirika’s gains on STR. And has only 5% more on Res compared with Eirika’s 30%.
She’s a flying killer, and mage killer too. As statistically she will have more Res for a physical unit. And I’m only talking as she’s gaining average levels, not blessed. Also, she can be nimble as she has 60% Speed growth, so she can dodge really well and not getting double against later enemies.
She can A support with Colm very fast, even before Chapter 9 on both routes.
True that Innes is better, but either you can go Eirika’s route just to get Innes early and Gerik too to promote him to Ranger when you can have Joshua killing every enemy as swordmaster early too on Eirika’s Route.
If you have a better archer early on in FE8 prove it to me. I’m open to get wrong.
I’ll give you a better archer
seriously though it’s hilarious that the devs thought giving 2/3 main weapon types buyable 1-2 range was a good idea, archers really got the short end of the stick
LLLOOOOLLLL!!!
Hmm… never really think of Seth when speaking of archers, I mean good gameplay wise.
Seth can be any class in game and still being good as he is.
However javs lack the strength compared to bows like the steel one for example, and weights enough to make you slow. But we’re speaking of Seth, God himself if you want.
Still makes me laugh, LOL
