Everyone in this thread has summed it up already: bloat, bloat, bloat. And ugly sprites, but hey, you have to start somewhere. There needs to be a meaningful difference between these classes in order for players to consider using them. But I think there is a rather extreme way we can salvage this idea. Why not do Magic Emblem? Why not make it so that everyone is a spellcaster? Pupil being the starting point isn’t a bad idea when you treat it as the same as Gaiden/SOV’s Villager class. If you could somehow implement Gaiden’s level up magic system alongside the different skills, while also making a world where magic is the dominant art, this could potentially make for an interesting experience.
So basically mage vers of myrm emblem, i’m honestly waiting for cleric emblem where you have to use azama counter in the prologue to defeat enemies
Preferences vary for everyone but I appreciate the suggestion on the Magic emblem, that’s actually a really cool idea. This was just a sample run but most I see are taking this literally as the classes for my game. They’re not.
I am going to have a fun time coding either magic as a strength-based weapon or weapons as a magic-based weapon as a few of my official classes will wield both.
But I really like this magic idea. Thanks! ![]()
That would be so cool actually. Technically the Premonition on this list is a play at offensive staves. All clerics would make a really cool game I think. Where you win using debuffs. I’m all for indirect damage :}
