i haven’t touched the game in ages please bro forgive me i swear i won’t relapse
I wont forgive you just yet. You’re gonna have to earn your absolution by ZessDynamite in the grand arena of the hack.
yeah uhuh
Hello! This fangame has been highly recommended to me, so I’m going to be streaming it on Sunday here: https://youtube.com/live/IiX9mr5p79w
Present plans are to stream it at 3pm UK time (10am Eastern), but if you’d want to pop in and the timeslot doesn’t work for you, please do let me know and if we are able to coordinate schedules, I’d be more than happy to move the stream time
Update, new UI and sound effects. yay
Just saw the trailer for FEE3 2024. Great choice of music @Cadbury ![]()
Played through the hack after seeing the trailer a couple of days ago. Awesome work. Has a really distinct vibe when contrasted against the videogames I play.
Love the twins. My main complaint is that I didn’t get to see the end of their story, haha.
I just finished this like 10 minutes ago and it was one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had in the last few years. I really liked the dialogue (And that’s saying something because I think almost all the Fire Emblem fan games I’ve played cap out at about 6/10 in that aspect) it managed to make the characters all very likable and while the gameplay was certainly strange in some regards I can’t say it wasn’t fun. I loved the ending, it made me second guess myself on Marcels fate twice. 9/10 can’t wait for the sequel assuming it actually happens
I played ch. 0 and ch. 1 yesterday and had some thoughts on it, so I figured I’d document them here.
Marcel’s prf sword absolutely should explicitly say that it uses MAG at 2 range (and STR at 1 range), especially since that’s critical for understanding his unit matchups.
Convoy access should be marked with a skill; who does and doesn’t have it is unintuitive. Also, the ability to send items to the convoy at-will using the Storage command should probably be tutorialized or mentioned somewhere.
The armors around the edges of the map could maybe do with having Void Curse, so the player isn’t tempted to double back and slurp them up for exp. I didn’t myself, but I could see someone else bogging down the end of the map to go back for some of them. I think they should still be there, though, since using them as Galeforce springboards is cool.
I think the yellow village on the right should be axed. Currently, the player plans out their bottom right clear, gets the village, realizes that getting it is pointless, turnwheels, and re-plans out their bottom right clear. I get that it tutorializes yellow villages not giving anything, but there’s probably a better way to do that? Moving the soldier off of it, for example, would let you check it → turnwheel without needing to kill the soldier first.
I don’t think the skills handed out to enemy generics influence gameplay enough to be worth the additional load on the player’s mental stack. Slow Burn on knights? Really? Oh no, this enemy knight has +5 hit/avo, this radically changes who can deal with him!
The only enemy skill (besides maybe the auras?) that seems to meaningfully affect matchups/interactions is Wrath on enemy Fighters, which I do find interesting. I think you could maybe crank the crit boost up to +100 to make it something you can’t turnwheel past, though? Or you could keep it at +50 if being able to turnwheel past it is intentional. Also, Wrath updating mid-combat should be mentioned in its description, as that’s critical to how it changes combat matchups.
An honorable mention goes to Rule of Thirds, which would have had an impact if the turnwheel didn’t make it irrelevant. I suppose the player could honor rule it; maybe it’s not a problem.
Showing the player their turn count at the end of each map would be cool and reinforce that getting low turn counts is supposed to be one of the player’s goals.
The writing has been fantastic so far, so I don’t have much to comment on it.
F*ck you!
This made me upset, which is the point, and knowing that makes me upset, which is again the point.
I hate you for making me experience art.
Thank you for making such a wonderful piece.
I have such a ball of “feelings” inside me right now and it’s your fault.
I just wanted content, why didn’t you just make content?
How am I supposed to return to what I was before?
I want to scream, and scream, and scream and scream, but that would not be proper.
This has left something permanent on me.
I regret that I have played, for I can never again play for the first time.
I am so very glad to have done so.
Play Milieu by Cadbury.
dont worry bro ill make like seven rebalances to make up for it
hi I updated the game. Every generic unit now has a new skill. Every unit now only has one skill, so, there’s no class skills for each unique unit, but they still have their personal skills. Each boss unit now has a personal skill as well. Promoted enemies don’t inherit their base class skill, and instead they get a new skill. Skills for enemy units are still not very impactful due to the nature of the game but there should be more scenarios now where they have to be kept in mind.
Other changes
Avoid formula’s been switched over to DSFE’s one. This is to make hitrates higher for enemies, which were too low before.
Elizabeth has a new skill that allows her to move again after missing. There’s a new lance in the game that helps enable this.
Cindy also has a new skill that allows her to move again after using a staff while carrying someone.
The yellow house in chapter 1 has been painted red, and now gives the Knight Ring.
Canto has been hidden from the skill menu for aesthetic purposes. It’s still there though.
Charm is now +30 Hit +30 Avoid
Turnwheel no longer shows remaining uses. It still works like it used to.
wtf man who allowed milieu gameplay to be taken into consideration. i missed the old days… free the smiley face armors
milieu update call that milinew
i make a sequel i call it militwo
so true cadbury so true
Late happy new year happy new year. SigmaBigMoodRaven wrote about Milieu in the December edition of Archanea Monthly which came out a few days ago in January. I paid him about $50 to do it in case you were wondering, and I was like “please don’t say anything bad about the game please” and he was like “that’ll be 50% extra,” and then he made up the year. Actually, I didn’t tell SigmaRaven to write the article, and he didn’t even tell me he wrote it until I saw it, so when I saw it I was like wow this is very cool. Thank you!
In other news, I am working to eliminate the empty space in most of the textboxes in Milieu. Please look forward to this riveting update.
can you add full voice acting to the game
is is true that milieu is good? i saw it being likened to crack somewhere.
your next update should include the year of the game in red text and have it be different from the one i made up for the article so it renders the article non-canon
