[Lex Talionis] Absolution (32 / 32 Chapters)

Hell yeah Zess! I look forward to playing this when I can!

Oh, wow! That makes two people who’ve played the game on Infernal. I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’m honestly surprised Infernal mode even functions at all, given that the stat changes it makes were just placeholder numbers I set maybe 6 years ago now, haha.

If you’d like a recruitment guide, you can download one – here –
(for anyone else in the thread who happens to see this, I’ll add the caveat that I don’t intend or expect anyone to use this on a first playthrough. Just posting it for posterity.)

Was infernal mode worth playing? Did you have to do any cheese strats for it? Was going to play it but it wasn’t finished at the time

yessss knowing it’s done makes me so happy this has been on my list!!! I will be back when the supports and easier difficulty comes. Super stoked, congrats on completing it!

So I played the prologue and chapter 1 and the writing, gameplay mechanics and art is even better than I expected! I was thinking about playing without supports or paired endings, but I’d rather just wait for the implementation. I like pairing everyone up and seeing how they end up after the conflict.

I think I might need some help for chapter 5…

Is there a way to get this into full screen? When I choose screen size 5 it just blows up the game screen and I can’t see everything.

If you’re still having trouble, I recommend deploying Lakshmi, Cecile, and/or Bennett on the right side. The first two can handle the mages without worrying about being counterattacked, and Bennett (while he’ll struggle at first) can take on the mages no problem once Experimenter gets going

No, sorry. Just a quirk of this ancient version of the engine. Screen size 4 is really the best you can get.

Oh dang okay. I don’t get HDR on my tv unless it’s in full screen so the picture looks super washed out. Is there any way for me to install the new lex talionis to get full screen? And if not are you able to update it in the future to be able to go full screen?

Where can I get 7 Statements?:thinking:

The game won’t run on the new version of LT as is. I’d have to port over the entire game’s assets, scripting, and custom code to the new engine to get it working there.
I’ll never say never in regards to making the game be able to go full-screen, but I haven’t looked into that part of the engine’s codebase before. I’m not the most experienced programmer either, so it likely would end up being a fair bit of work.
Apologies for the inconvenience :downcast_face_with_sweat:

That’s okay! I’m not very familiar with Lex so I wasn’t sure if it was an easy fix. I appreciate you replying back to me though about it. Learned something new today. I’ll figure out what works best so I can play this cuz I’ve waited too long for this to be complete and not even try to play through lol

extremely insanely hyped for this but the arrow keys dont work for some reason… no issues with the chapter 22 patch and pressing A/B works totally fine, is this an old lt thing or just my computer getting strange

I’m pretty sure I know what’s going on there.
If you go into the absolution_data folder, then the Saves folder, you should see a file called config.ini
That file includes, among other things, your key mapping. Try setting the arrow keys as follows:
key_LEFT=1073741904
key_RIGHT=1073741903
key_UP=1073741906
key_DOWN=1073741905

If that doesn’t work or if you have any other issues, let me know

I finished chapter 2 last night, but was thoroughly underwhelmed by it.

Ojala just kind of fails as a map gimmick. Ojala’s AI can only be changed by talking to her with Valentina. Unlike Ike, Valentina can’t change the orders of her allies remotely; she has to be adjacent to Ojala to change her orders. This would be bad enough, but Valentina is footlocked, while Ojala is mounted. If you set Ojala to attack, there is a very real possibility that Valentina can’t catch up to her to tell her to stop, especially if Ojala decides to go down a different path through the map than the one you sent Valentina to.

You have three options to set Valentina’s AI to, all of which feel horrible:

  • If you set her to attack, she steals large portions of the map’s droppable loot. Her ability to genuinely help rather than merely “stealing” kills on already-weakened enemies is greatly hindered by green units moving after red units (unlike yellow units in Tellius, who move before red units)..
  • If you set her to follow, she sticks near Valentina but refuses to attack anything, even if she happens to end her turn with an enemy in her attack range. She contributes nothing to the map except for sometimes bodyblocking you. The map seems designed for you to have her, so it ends up being kind of a difficulty spike compared to ch. 1.
  • If you set her to halt, she stays near your starting area and probably deals with the reinforcement cavs using her shining bow. However, this is an unintuitive result that you’re only reasonably going to try on a second playthrough. You’re only told that cavaliers will attack from behind, not how strong those cavaliers are or whether or not Ojala can reasonably handle them. If you’re on a first playthrough, setting Ojala to halt is an incredibly risky maneuver, because if those cavaliers happen to be antiturtle doom-reinforcements instead of chumps, you’ll be forced to reset the map, as you can’t tell Ojala to flee if Valentina is on the other side of the map.

The end result is that you’re probably setting Ojala to follow, then trudging through the rest of the map with Valentina further back than she’d normally be (because she needs to stand back to talk to Ojala on turn 1) and with Ojala smugly taunting you.

Green Ojala just really doesn’t work here. The map would be significantly better if she was just a temporary blue unit. Have the game tell you she’s temporary, then, at the end of the chapter, dump her inventory, delete any steel bows/shining bows the player has, and kick her out of the party.

tldr;

(P.S.: The ch. 2 village that teaches you three recipes should really, really be red, not yellow. Yellow should be reserved for villages/houses that ONLY give you text. The rest of the villages in this chapter conform to this color scheme; maybe you didn’t consider learning recipes to be a concrete reward? IMO, it should count as one.)

Also, are FEU posts the best way to contact you?
