I don’t know if I would call this an “evil” project, but I feel in my soul that there is at least one deeply evil element buried in here. Which part exactly qualifies as that “ontological evil” is an assessment I leave for your eyes to decide.
Not thoroughly tested, but definitely beatable since I beat it like three times in the library. Familiarity with Dies Emblem is recommended.
This is both an evil one-chapter hack as demanded by this absurd competition, and also a self-parody of my first ever rom hack, The Dark Amulet. If you’ve played The Dark Amulet, the jokes will make a bit more sense, but you really don’t need any context at all to play and enjoy(?) this hack.
The premise is simple: the nefarious Zeddard has the Dark Amulet and this time, he’s making it Darker. You have 18 turns to defeat him. The problem?
Your units are terrible
Your items are terrible
Every one of your units is essential. If even one of them dies, you lose
The Dark Amulet and its sequel are a bit infamous for having (too) many essential characters. Naturally, this evil parody dials that up to eleven.
This hack is literally evil. It does not respect you. It will constantly sling unfair scenarios at you. You will lose a lot, but you will learn by losing. It is technically beatable. Good luck. (no, seriously - you need good luck to win. You’ll see what I mean when you get it into it)
It is born of spite and mild annoyance at personal bugbears. All of the horrors you are about to bear witness to are from real hacks (and the vanilla games).
It has three possible endings!
Yes, the hack is possible/feasible to beat (and it’s not a Desert Bus scenario like last time). If you think it isn’t, that is likely an issue of reading comprehension.
Frequent deployment of savestates is recommended, but the hack isn’t egregiously RNG-dependent.
for those aspiring submitters who are unaware of time zones (why did you make it noon PST ru), you have, uh, roughly 3.5 hours from the typing of this message
It’s a one-chapter story about if shipping wars are in physical form, where you play as toxic shippers sent by the government that really, really, hates this specific rival ship
Check the evil (gameplay) parts by trying to visit the houses and the story/character parts by triggering all the boss convos and read your units’ dialogue
When I saw this post, I already started getting ideas for a horror chapter before I read the mechanics were supposed to be the evil part. Oops. Here’s hoping its still painful to play, was fun to throw something together.
Content Warning for themes of depersonalization and dysphoria. There’s nothing explicit here that warrants an age rating, it’s intended to create an unsettling vibe rather than jumpscare or shock you.
The time has come for the angels Red, Purple, Green and Blue to earn their halos. You’ll help them, won’t you? Don’t hurt them.
Veld took over the administration of Fire Emblem Heroes in the aftermath of Choose Your Legends 11. He then radically transformed the game into a large crossover. Waluigi the gacha player was not impressed at all. After a few discussions, Wario decided to buy out Heroes. However, his purchase offers were denied, leaving only one option open: a hostile takeover bid. Veld was prepared, however! Many dangerous hazards separated Wario from his beloved treasure. Several other people appeared too, with their own objectives. One thing held this army in common: the desire to dethrone Veld and stop his game.
My playtester made it very late into the chapter. I believe it is currently winnable, though with several issues dotted around the place. I might make a cleaned-up version later independent of scoring.
Dorcas’s ADventure in Hell
Dorcas, finding himself in Hell after an abrupt death, must make his escape using a secret technique granted to him by Anna… advertising. Does he have what it takes to make it back to Natalie?
I found out about this contest a bit late, and I’ve never submitted something before, so I suppose this is my first contribution as my FEE3 showcase isn’t until the 10th of November. I made an awful thing. A lot of new and returning mechanics to give the player an awful experience, but it is completely possible to finish it. Ideally it will be miserable in a bit of a unique manner.

Horrible map gameplay (probably assumed from the above, but its worth a mention).
Warning: it might need a photosensitivity warning, there is a lot of use of the lightning animation. The screen itself doesn’t flash a bunch, I just figured I should mention this to be safe. Note: Feel free to check it out, but I can’t recommend actually completing it (though it is completely possible to do so). Disclosure: this was made with some AI code (in the project code and in the engine code in addition to the standard amount in newer LT).
waow this one is also super awesome. the fog definitely made it a bit grating to play, but of course the main appeal here is the story. and i kinda get what it’s about, but i also don’t get it at the same time. which i’d say is pretty evil.
I did use it for additional code ontop of what is already in the LT engine + using it for some events.
I figured for some people this would make the game more ontologically evil, though admittedly I also use some AI code in my primarily project (although with my actual main game I do a ton of quality assurance over months, whereas I cannot say the same for this project).
I did hold off on updating the LT engine to its most recent version (so it probably lacks most of the updates with AI made by the dev for LT). I know some people are more unsettled by the inconsistencies between LT and GBA, so I figured it would be fitting to make it perhaps a bit more painful. The release of the actual main game I’m working on will however have these parity updates since I know people dislike how LT and GBA differ in some timing and menu elements.
(I just wanted to mention this so someone doesn’t see it played and then think that the parity updates didn’t accomplish anything).
