Eh, necroing the thread brought it to my attention - I was MIA the first time around, apparently - and now I have a few things to think about. So tl;dr the previous commenters pointing out the benefits of our “necro is ok” policy are 100% correct, and especially for the Discourse forum software it’s valuable.
