I’m glad that you have enjoyed the game!
-The points of Avilian and Beritian coming back is concerning, I’ve never experienced that.
-Didn’t dialogue of Susila leaving showed up? If not, that’s a bug.
-I think I know why the Zimer/Ribald bug appears, but this particular instance
never happened to me or my friends.
-Eliotax’s items bug is new to me.
-Irma’s chapter needs to be implemented yet. Sorry for not telling anybody.
-I’m conflicted about Roberto. I’ve already surpassed the playable character rooster,
maybe it’s better to not make him recruitable, or maybe only for that particular chapter.
I’m planning to do a big update to fix all the bugs, but mostly, I’m trying my best to tie up the story in a satisfying way. My friends are also helping me with this project.
Also, yes, the doc needs to be updated.
The final version will also have 3 gaiden chapters, which were cut before, but I found enough space to be put inside.
PS: dead units make more space for new units. Having lost so many units in your run, you could afford to get all the character of part 4.
Edit: One more question: on your opinion, which units are the best and which ones are the worst ?
Just to clarify a couple things:
-When talking about Eliotax. I am referring to the Wall Nut he gives you before the start of his final chapter. After recieving that, I could save the game, restart, and then recieve another one. This can be done as many times as desired. Such a thing also occured in 4-5 with all the seige weaponry are you are give. Just hit save and reset, and you can obtain them as many times as desired. Given it applied to those 2 instances, I would not be surprised if any previous instances of item recieving could also be abused in such a way. Even if any other instances that could be abused eludes me.
Another thing about the Irma gaiden point, when I selected ‘No’ to not him away, he still disappeared from the map. I then reset the map and just avoided the talk convo to make sure he stayed.
I am not sure of how this stuff works internally so I can’t say if this idea would actually work, but first thing that came to mind when it came to Roberto could be him only be recruitable if someone else wasnt recruit or is dead. Not sure who would be the best character to have that check for sense I do not know the difference in quality between Wolfgang and Reidun who opperate on such a premise.
As for best or worsts… lets see. Unit that can promote will have their classes in parentheses.
The units I leaned on the most come the end were Ascanio (General and then Baron), Nazir (Berserker), Paolus (Sage), Sal’ Aral, Nathan, Hejira, and then to a lesser extent Wolfgang.
Nazir and Sal’ Aral were the most efficient high crit machines.
With an Iron Shield, late game Paolus could really handle whole battalions of enemies with how pontent the effective damage of fire magic is against the high volume of late game cavs paired the Arcfire/thunder fixing his doubling issue if he couldnt 1 shot. Struggled with 4-4 the first couple of times until it dawned on me I can send a Power Ring boosted Paolus with an Arcfire into the left side to remove a lot of the pressure the starting enemies provide.
Nathan trades the def Paolus has for spd. His breath of life was especially helpful for the time he was in part 1 where your units arent as strong. Another potential bug, I recall him not giving his inventory to the supply despite the docx saying he should. Because I remeber he had the wooden shield before he left and still had it when he returned.
Hejira is the best of both worlds between the stats of Nathan and Paolus. Paired if her skill that self dances when she uses a staff to allow her to get around the map fast if you burn uses of the barrier staff.
And then I think Ascanio just overall benefits from being relieved of getting to objectives once Nilo returns. It allows Ascanio to go where ever he needs to hold off sections of map. He doesnt have to worry about weapon durability or healing thanks to the convoy access. Given the Gold Rune he handled all the 4-1 Nomad reinforcments without a scratch. They were honestly just free levels for him. Which then snowballed into making him strong enough to single handely holding off the right side of 4-4.
Wolfgang was probably just a matter of I gave him Starlet and Starlet was really powerful.
Worst is tough because units that died didn’t exactly get the opportunity for me to see the big picture for them. There are a few characters I did stop using for one reason or another:
Bastiano (War Monk) Was good for part 2 where the army doesn’t have alot of options. But just couldnt put my trust in 33% across the board growths besides HP
Sero (Assassin): Was not keeping up in the damage department and I felt theif utility to dwinddle in value when you have 3 units who can access the convoy for your party to use keys.
Sika (White Wing): Her prf skill asking to carry 3 or less items grew too inconvient for me when my army often was running around with full inventories.
Ze Diong: Couldn’t double and just wasnt strong enough with the one hit he could deliver.
Ferdinand [part 4]: Was too weak to do any significant damage to enemies of the map he returns in.
I would say the part 2 brigade overall suffers from what I would best describe as a lack of econmy. The most standout example of these was that by the time I recruited Stoyan and Vaska both of them had broken their only weapon which meant they basically had to keep sharing weapons back and forth with Ascanio. Some units not being present in 2-3 does not help this issue. Ironic considering that was the only part 2 chapter I didnt lose anyone in. Overall, once I got the part 1 team back, I had little desire to use what was left of the part 2 team besides Ascanio, Paolus, Zomu, and later into part 3 Tirana. The former 3 due to being the only units of their respective weapon types and Tirana was just good to have for mage heacy sections while someone like a Callaghan (Great Knight) got benched for lack of impressive growths anywhere.
Last bit of unit discussion goes to Nilo and Nila. It felt like this odd dynmaic where I felt more inclined to use Nilo in part 1, and then felt more inclined to use Nila in part 3 and 4. One thing I was dissapointed to see go upon promotion was lack of water walking. The main factor between the two in the later parts is probably a matter of speed. As it got harder for Nilo to double late game enemies, it made him into the unit that goes for the Sieze while Nila could carry herself in a fight or just be anywhere I need her to be.
It’s only now I realized I ranted into 1000 words lol.
I really appreciate your dedicated feedback! I asked since I have intention
to tweak some units to make sure they stand out on their own more often. I have no plan to achieve perfect balance, but I wanna make sure that at least each unit is usable to an extent.
Funny thing, most of my friends say that Sika is one of the top ten units, maybe you didn’t get lucky with Spd and Str. Bastiano also has incredible bulk for a monk, maybe you can choose to turn him into a war monk. Ascanio, Paolus and Zomu and incredibly strong, I’ll have to admit that, but I have no intention to tweak them.
The main difficulty of part 2 is the economy. I wanted the player to fell the struggle of a group of stragglers running away from insormountable dangers, so the player has to accurately survive with the few scraps available. Maybe I’ll add a pair of steel swords. Yep, I’ll definetly do that.
Hi! I have downloaded the hack! Since this a long journey and with many characters, i was wondering if some can give me some guide about recruiting and secrets for the game? Thank you
There’s a guide doc in the links, but I suggest you to not look at it unless you really need it. I prefer to play game blind. I can suggest you to keep as many characters alive to unlock some gaidens. Even without playing the gaidens, you can reach the final chapter with enough money and items to complete it.
-Fixed a bug in which the player couldget unlimited items at the start
of chatper 4-2 adn 4-5
-Added more doppable steel weapons in 2-2 and 2-4
-Heavily buffed Ze diong, Ferdinand and slightly buffed Callaghan
-Nilo and Nila can now waterwalk in their promoted class
-Roberto is now recruitable, as long as you talk with Nilo,Nila, Marcello, Lotario and Wylson
(only one of them needs to do the talking)
-Added dialogue with Susila at the end of the chapter to indicate that
he leaves forever.
-Fixed cutscene of 3-5 start event
-Fixed a bug in 3-2xx in which the player wouldn’t ge the rewards. Also,
fixed the game over condition. Losing any unit in 3-2xx won’t cause a gamover,
but an early completition of the chapter without any reward.
-Added a special unit in 3-F.
-Added a new world map and remade the intro.
-Tweaked a bit the startin gparty of 1-1.
-Rapier and Partisan have no crit, but get +2 might.
-Reworked Stocc, Nila’s prf. It’s not brave and doesn’t give 2 def,
but when initiating combat, grants +4 spd. You can now double easily,
but you cannot quad anymore.
-Slightly buffed Fausta’s personal skills.
-Updated maps 1-8
-Added chapter 1-8x, 2-4x and 4-5x. Those are the final chapters to be added.
-Disclaimer: chapter 2-4x is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. Suggested for veterans and masochist only.
-Fixed an issue with Irma not leaving on 4-4x. He now gets +5 DEF/RES/SKL/LCK if you keep him.
-Added a few support options (without dialogue). All supports will develop four times faster.
-Reworked the introduction cutscene at the beginning of the game.
Stuff to do:
-Rewrite supports, fix grammar errors.
-Fix affinity icons.
-Add more WOLFGANG.
Sorry for me being late, I was busy with real life study.
Now that I’m close to finish this monumental project, I’m looking to find
a person or two who are willingly to analyze from start to finish the main story (gaiden chapters excluded). I already had someone who helped me with grammar mistakes and logical errors, now I’m looking for people who are good writers (that are willing to help me for free since I’m broke).
While I’m working on the supports and bugs, you can text me in private or post here your thoughts about the story. I’ll be open to criticism about the story since I think it’s the part who needs the most work.
