Does anyone here know how to apply the custom character portraits to the mod? I’ve got the current update patched to it, but I’m lost on how to apply the custom faces.
Alternatively, I think she might be scarier with the Iron Nageyari instead of Steel, since that makes follow-ups much easier- 21 effective speed on enemy phase is very high for lvl 10 unpromoted. Differentiates her even further from Haitaka, who focuses more on countering hard with Strong Riposte.
@finzbo Update, I managed to get my FE Fates rom to read the romfs file and implement the gameplay change; however, with the .png files being listed as custom textures, I can’t pull them directly from the romfs when emulating. I can get it to work on Citra by listing the portraits as custom textures, but if you’re not running Citra, you’re cooked and cannot access the updated portraits.
Is there any way you can set the portraits up in Paragon, so it pulls from the romfs folder? Alternatively, is there any other way you can get the game to pull the portraits from the romfs folder automatically, such as by packaging it in with the Json within the romfs folder?
I hate Citra on my potato brick PC and would ideally like to get this on my modded console, either of these would help a ton with the actual ease of play when setting up the mod.
EDIT: Never mind, I’ve got it covered. Do you mind sharing the stats / growth document for reference?

Does anyone know if you can give a unit innate beast weakness without having Wolfskin/Kitsune as a class? Or if it needs to be the base class?

Yeah sadly I cant access the romfs images, I think. Because the programs to change them, just wont work for me, for some unkown reason. Thats why I just changed a HD Texture Pack of the Characters.

That’s fine, I’m doing the legwork to produce an enhanced Paragon version with the portraits factored into the romfs, as well as some other balance adjustments.
Mainly for my own enjoyment, but I may share that after your CMU ends here if people want to try it.
Notable Changes:
Improved growths, better pair-up bonuses, new on-map recruitment events, new supports / dialog, and more importantly, prepromote Dark Knight Togashi Yuta!

I’m not particularly attached to replacing Tarba specifically, but I’ve cooked up a character and figured it would be safe to replace the capturable boss of a paralogue for one of my units

This is your personal balance patch? What are Togashi Yuta Electric Boogaloo’s new stats and growths? Is he now a prepromote, or a pseudo-promote (like the servants)?

Yeah, this is my personal balance patch. He’s a pseudo-promote with 4 Eternal Seals pumped into him automatically. I’m at work, so stats will have to wait until I get back.

Since you’re working on doing all of this I feel like the two of you should band together to make the most out of it.
This of course depends on you two but I think it would be a neat idea. Even if it’s just at the very end.

Maybe! The main reason I’m doing this (largely) solo right now is because I find the process cathartic. I work a pretty high stress office job during the day, so it’s fun to get home, unwind, and fiddle around with Paragon.
Also gives me some filler time while I wait for the next portrait batch for my ROM Hack.

That definitely sounds like an improvement, If you do share I’d love to play when everythings over.

Well Akiko only has his portrait for now, so she doesnt really replace tarba, she only has his portrait. So dont worry too much
