last update, then i’ll be done for good with this thing: i managed to assemble a gif, however since PhotoShop and ImageReady apparently do not like dealing with fixed-time frames, the animation is kind of…not great in terms of resolution and timing.
beside the lagging frames, there’s also some messed up pixels here and there, so don’t take it as reference, but rather just as a demo.
i was really hoping to make it look decent, but can’t expect much from softwares that are 15+ years old i guess :sweat_smile:

i’ll also include the .zip file with all the basic frames collected into a folder, so people that eventually want to give it a try and script it properly will be free to do so.
otherwise, you can always use the sprite sheet that i made before:

now that i’ve managed to get myself into animations as well, i’ve learned yet another important lesson: don’t do animations ever again.
too much time and effort required, not really my kind of thing, even though at least i tried.
better stick with portraits or other kinds of non-moving material, for my own mental sanity.

[ and here’s yet another edit ] as usual, i’m not easily satisfied when it comes to sprites, so instead of going to 100% i went to 120% and did some more stuff:

there’s still Blasting Zone missing its own Limit Break frames, but since i ran out of inspiration and ideas, that’s what you’ll get for the time being.

well, that was a quick break. probably going to be the last sprite for a while though, as i’m getting more and more busy with other stuff( one of those being Armored Core 6, coming out next week ).
anyway, here’s my take on Cherche for the CCC, made a custom variant as usual because doing the classic outfit when anyone else has already done that is kinda boring for me:

pretty sure you can tell what’s been used here as model reference, although i did make some changes here and there.
mantle, fur, headband and a portion of her armor were all custom made, the rest is just me swapping colors, adding details and playing around with few pixels to fit everything in the hackbox( this one was hard, but i’ve managed somehow ).
gotta also give my thanks to Garytop for the colors palette, that saved me some time :sweat_smile:

heya, i’m still alive.

just wanted to let you guys know that while i’m still busy elsewhere, i’ve managed to make some minor updates about my galleries up there, as i’ve recently removed some very old stuff that was starting to become quite cringe-looking, so i decided to put it out of its misery for good.

also, now all of my assets have been finally reorganized into specific sub-galleries with proper naming and assembled sheets for many of them, i’ll probably do the same with the rest of my material in case the main post will start to lag again like crazy during editing.
apparently making full sheets of assets not only works for collection purposes, but also helps the galleries not to get chocked due to multiple file sizes, amounts of images, etc.
i’ve even added a new section named “Items”, wich will include icons of all sorts.

i’ll eventually resume spriting around the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth next year, unless inspiration strikes me again. time will tell as always.
meanwhile, here’s a thing for my renewed gallery:

Heya, it’s been a while~

With the coming release of FF VII Rebirth, i decided to revisit some old portraits, along with uploading a bit of new stuff.
First things first, a small update in terms of minor details and facial expressions for the previous FF VII Remake main cast:

The previously missing eye frames in Cloud’s mugs have been added, the light reflections in Cloud’s necklace and Tifa’s eyes have been adjusted, along with the eyebrows on Tifa and Barret’s mugs that have been reworked to be more expressive.
Cloud now also has screws installed on his shoulder plate, for a more classic look :+1:

And now, a bit of new stuff:

Be warned though, these are probably far above 16 colors, so you’ll have to use color reductions if you want to implement them in the vanilla engine.

I’m back with a quick update along with new stuff:
» FF VII Remake mugs have been further adjusted in order to save space, now they have different mouth and eye frames integrated with the base portraits for even better expressions.

» Also, here’s new weapon icons inspired by Kingdom Hearts Keyblades, reworked as swords.

I’ve made further customizations and edits of the previous Castlevania icons sheets, so now there’s even more items and weapons than before.

I’ve been working on this stuff all morning and afternoon, so i guess i’ll be done for good with these assets for the time being.
It’s been an interesting experience though, as with these icons i’ve basicly reached the point of having edited every kind of graphic asset in terms of GBA pixel art.

If the intent is for these to be used in GBA FE, they’re not using the proper palette, as GBA FE requires all items to use the exact same 16 color palette.

That seems a bit weird to me though, as most of these were taken directly from Castlevania’s GBA titles.
Consider these as “basic structure” icons then, they can always be recolored with other proper palettes in order to fit in the GBA standards.

those are two different games and the methods they use and limitations for paletting are not the same

FF VII Rebirth_Cait Sith Fenriel

Here’s my take on Cait Sith from FF VII Rebirth, probably not one of my best sprites but it’s alright i guess.
I’ve been working on this from this morning, mainly because it’s been one of those very rare times when i have to make sprites from zero due to lack of pre-existing material, so that’s taken me about 8 hours, more or less.
As usual, the FF VII roster has been updated as well.

More will eventually come, in due time~

Small update, but better than nothing, right?

I’ve worked on some icons yet again. This time it will probably be the last one for real( unless inspiration comes around again~ ), i’ve worked long enough on items to the point that i’ve not only ran out of source material, but also motivation to keep making these as i’ve already done more than enough in terms of both normal edits and custom ones for different games.
[Edit] Ah yes, i almost forgot: you’ll probably have to change palette colors, if you want to use them with the vanilla engine.

Wow, looking at those tactics icons is really giving me hardcore nostalgia.
And learning about the silly GBA limitations is just making me all the happier to be working with Lex Talionis lol.
Amazing work, looking forward to seeing what you’ll do next.

I’ve got both bad news and good news: the bad ones are the fact that the website for hosting images that i was using years ago apparently decided to break all the links to my older works, so a portion of battle screens along with maybe something else got actually sent into oblivion.
Not sure if it’s temporary, not sure if it’s entirely their fault or if there’s some conflicts with FEU’s server in terms of files data, but it sure is bad.

Thing is, many of my old assets are not available anymore since sadly i did not make backup copies of them at the time( not being aware that something like this could eventually happen ), so unless there’s other copies currently stored in the repo, chances are that they might be gone forever.

Closing this sad note, while doing some occasional “pixel study”, i stumbled upon some stuff wich in turn gave me some ideas for a little side project concept that could eventually become reality depending on different circumstances.
Long story short: don’t mind me, just testing some stuff~

[Edit] Apparently the broken links were a temporary issue, after editing some sheets in the main post they went back to normal and now they should be working again. Still not sure what caused it though.
Also, i retouched the battle screen for FF VII Remake, the new variant is a bit more polished and overall better looking in terms of details:

Heya, it’s been a while.

Just did a “quick” thing with pre-existing stuff, mostly minor edits here and there in order to fit everything into eye and mouth frames, with the only issue being that sadly there’s only one type of mouth frames due to overall portrait size and pixels alignment( using pre-existing sprites does not always help ). I might eventually do an angry version too sometime in the future, we’ll see about that.

For the time being, here’s my take on Cid Highwind from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth:
