a little thing i did for reasons unknown:

a little thing i did for reasons unknown:

tried to approach an hybrid concept for a humanoid / draconic character, mainly inspired by FF XIV’s Au Ra race.
it turned out okeish, although i’m not entirely satisfied with the dragon scales:

the base mug comes from Blazing Sword, everything else from palette swap to custom details and various edits was made by me.
also, on a side note: i’ve assembled different mugs that i previously made in my galleries up there due to space limit and overall lagging issues when editing those first posts( in about a year i added way too much stuff, really ).
therefore, you’ll probably notice that they’re not separated by single portraits anymore, but rather there’s some sheets with all related mugs assimilated into them( for now, only FE and Fate/stay night sprites ).
i haven’t compiled all the subcategories( not yet at least ), and probably won’t because between backgrounds and maps there’s just too much stuff to re-organize.
since i have no intention whatsoever to loose my mind doing so, i’ll just assemble sheets exclusively for portraits and call it a day.
i also plan to keep only portraits of “above average” quality, so you might want to check the F2U/F2E stuff one more time before i end up removing obsolete sprites by the end of the year / starting next year.
i actually had this one put on hold for quite a long while, as i wanted to eventually rework it but never got enough will to do so until few days ago.
might eventually do a battle still too, gotta see for how long inspiration will stick around.
in any case, here’s prince Noctis from Final Fantasy XV, but this time i used the traditional FE style of drawing/splicing in order to keep him more in line with the FF XV sprites that i did before:

i could have edited the other very old mug of Noct just to have 2 versions with both Versus XIII and XV outfits, but since i wasn’t sure about how many people would actually use those, i decided to restart from scratches and use his original Versus outfit since it’s overall way cooler, and at least it doesn’t look like the “copy-paste Nomurian disaster” that was seen in Kingdom Hearts 3.
i made it this way because i wanted to include most of the details of the original dress, and while it is indeed taller compared to Regis and Gladio, it can always be edited/cropped down to reduce his size for a more realistic feel.
some winter bgs, 64 colors as usual:

today i even got an invitation to buy a PS5 on amazon, so i guess christmas miracles really do exist lol
anyway, that’s about it for this year i guess.
i’ll probably resume spriting some time next year, especially around the time of Final Fantasy VII R-2 and XVI’s release.
let’s hope for a good 2023~ ![]()
'sup, i’m still alive.
even though i’m not as active as before due to multiple reasons, i still check this place once in a while.
anyway, just made a thing for the incoming map contest, since i totally missed the other one for the CCC( i could have done both Minerva and Maria, but got too busy with other stuff ) and i wanted to fix that by making some efforts elsewhere.
as usual, when it’s about maps, i tend to do some quite odd stuff, of the kind that you don’t usually see in FE GBA games.
without further ado, here’s the thing:

if you’re thinking “what the bloody hell is that?!”, then i’m afraid i don’t have an exact answer for it.
however, if you’re thinking “is that a water temple floating in the stratosphere???”, then you might be onto something…
Is this insertable? because it looks fan-fucking-tastic
in terms of space, it should be, as there’s some GBA maps that are way smaller than this.
however, i’m afraid you’ll have to either split those 16x16 sky tiles one by one, or try to import the full map as it is, because i usually don’t use tile presets for building maps, i just make them by editing .png images of pre-existing GBA tiles with custom ones.
then again, while i do graphic stuff once in a while, i’m not really into romhacking so i cannot tell you if this could actually be insertable depending on the engine you’re working with.
it might work with Lex Talionis and the likes( maybe ), not so sure about vanilla.
the water temple tiles are from the original GBA games though, so at least you could work around with those as reference.
Well crap, but it’s still good anyways
one more map for the current contest, while inspiration is still lingering:
i might have overdone it just a little.
totally didn’t took me more than 4 hours to polish everything, ahahah…aaah my poor eyes.
Is-is that a tower in space? Space map in Fire Emblem? I love it.
heya, i bring both bad and good news.
the bad news( really bad, actually ) is that the ImgBB website for free-hosting images that i was using years ago to post my stuff over here apparently has decided that the time for my older sprites was up, and therefore proceeded to cancel a good amount of material that was in my gallery.
needless to say, unless some portions of it were already added to the repo before, i’m afraid those will be gone forever.
there might still be some backup stuff on my DeviantArt page, but sadly not all of my old stuff.
given the situation, i suggest that if any of you might want to use some of my assets, you better check the galleries up there in the first posts before any more of them gets sent into oblivion, never to return.
i’ll eventually clean up the mess that’s up there sometime in the future, when i’ll have both time and will to do so, since at the moment it’s full of broken fuckery that i can’t even look at.
just thinking about all the hours of practice wasted( not really wasted, but in a sense they’re gone to shit anyway ) really pisses me off beyond words, so i’ll leave that be as it is for the time being.
now, movin’ on to better news: i’ve resumed editing mugs.
wether you might or might not be a fan of Tekken, here’s my take on Nina Williams with her latest outfit from Tekken 8, available in two variants with and without sunglasses:

i may do an half body of her too, depending on inspiration. guess we’ll see~
apparently that website i used for hosting images long ago has come back to its senses, so the sprites in my galleries should be back to normal, lucky me.
also, i decided to bring another valkyrie goddess over here.
here’s my take on Halone from Final Fantasy 14:

i had to cut plenty of details too in order to fit everything inside the hackbox, the space i had to work with was very limited this time around.
not exactly one of my best mugs, since working with colors mixed between skin tones and bronze isn’t really my kind of thing. it could’ve turned out better than this, but whatever.
something about Bloodborne might eventually come up sometime in the future.
or maybe more maps? i dunno~
…well, guess i did it again. it’s not often that i get this inspired, but when i do usually something crazy shows up.
so, after checking some of my older maps, i decided to rework one in particular and i believe i managed to bring it above and beyond compared to what it was before.
without further ado, i present you the revamped “Lunar Castle” map, now dubbed “Waterfalls Castle” for pretty obvious reasons, including all possible variants of the day cicle(dawn, morning, dusk, night):
i wasn’t sure if adding lights to windows would add more charm to the night version, so for now it will stay as it is.
might experiment with other maps later on, probably throne rooms. we’ll see~
alright, here’s my last maps related to the Waterfalls Castle, with 2 variants included for both day/night. no dawn/dusk this time around though, as the map is supposed to be an inner area rather than being in the open world.
besides, the pink/orange colors for those times of the day didn’t really match with the interior color of the rooms, so i guess the default ones will be more than enough for the time being.
after this one, i’ll probably take a break for a while, since drawing maps is indeed fun but also very time consuming, especially in my case since i’m never satisfied with details until everything is 100% polished.
anyway, the basic frame of this one came out pretty well, if i say so myself:
Waterfalls Castle - Throne room (Day, night variants)
well then, off to the land of dreams. see ya~ ![]()
guess one more map shouldn’t hurt…(except for my eyes).
ever tried to build a sand castle near the sea? i kinda did, but with pixels rather than sand~
while i was working on it, i also did some experiment with illumination during night time, and the results were actually not that bad.
probably not a huge change, but at least there’s some more details here and there.
anyway, i present you the “Desert Castle” map, available in 3 versions(day, evening and night):
apparently i’m never ever satisfied with the base map models until i go beyond the 100% ratio of polishing the whole damn thing, so uh…remember those maps i did few days ago? yeah…i reworked some of them in order to give more space to the open world ones, and more structure variety to the inner areas.
also added evening light variants and fixed more minor details here and there while i was at it, because of course building all this stuff in about 2 weeks wasn’t already enough time spent on sprites ![]()
in any case, i’ve upgraded and updated all of these maps in my main gallery up there too, just to be safe.
however, if you prefer the older versions, you can just scroll up some of my posts and you’ll still find them above.
not sure if i should upload these to the repo thread too, since it’s mostly minor fixes and alterations(even though they’re actually improvements…):
Waterfalls Castle revamped (Dawn, day, dusk, evening, night variants)
Waterfalls Castle - Throne room revamped (Day, night variants)
Desert Castle (evening variant with fixed lights)
…first and last time i rework these, i swear.
i might post one final open world map (not really final, but since i’m running out of ideas and inspiration, after that i’ll probably be done with maps for a while), maybe followed by either one or two more throne rooms to match the previous desert area.
'til next time~
music does help in a way, many ways actually.
and when you merge beautiful melodies with imagination, stuff like this might eventually happen:
Zodiac Castle (Day, evening, night variants)
i don’t mean to brag, but these are probably the best open world maps i’ve made so far, and i doubt you’ll find anything this particular around here.
will upload them later on in the repo thread too, when i’ll gather some more stuff.
now, if you’ll excuse me, i have only 4 hours left to sleep before going back to work.
i̶’̶m̶ ̶a̶d̶d̶i̶c̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶s̶p̶r̶i̶t̶e̶s̶,̶ ̶p̶l̶e̶a̶s̶e̶ ̶s̶e̶n̶d̶ ̶h̶e̶l̶p̶.̶
i guess maps will be put on hold for a while, at least until i’ll get some new ideas about throne rooms.
meanwhile, here’s something i wanted to revisit for a long time in order to finally fix it for good, but never bothered with it due to lack of interest and motivation. nostalgia partially played a role in this too.
gotta give credit where credit is due, so shoutout to @Garytop for providing a pretty good color palette, along with some nice details.
here’s my last revamp of Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII, this time around with a proper outfit based on the Remake version.
tried to include the screws on the shoulderplate too, but gave up in the end because drawing stuff that small is a pain in the ass.
i did, however, keep the old school hair because the base sprite is based on Tetsuya Nomura’s style of drawing from “Kingdom Hearts - Chain of Memories”, so spiky boy will keep 'em spikes:

[ edit: i almost forgot, this guy has more than 16 colors due to me being very stubborn about character fidelity, so if you want to make it insertable for the vanilla engine, you’ll have to alter the eye colors palette wich includes 3 extra colors and use the lighter tones from his outfit ]
i might end up reworking more FF VII characters, if i keep staring hard enough at my old and outdated mugs.
there’s already a good amount of base material for at least 6~7 human characters, not sure if i want to do the whole cast though.
we’ll see~
apparently it’s time for more revamps, so after making a variant for Cloud (it wouldn’t be him if he wasn’t grumpy once in a while), i decided to proceed with another of his friends.
down below you’ll find both default / angry variants for both characters, because having multiple mugs with different emotions is always a nice addition, right? right.
also, gotta give my thanks to Garytop for the plate spaulders on Zack~
Cloud Strife (default, angry) | Zack Fair (default, angry)

this makes a total of 3 available emotions for each of them (normal, happy, angry), wich could actually turn to 4 if you play around with eye frames to setup one for sadness, wich is something i rarely see done for mugs.
well, that’s it for today.
i wonder who’s gonna show up tomorrow…
![]()
“Hey, can you hear me?”
“Tifa?!”
“Yes…?”
“You okay?”
“…Mm-hmm.”
“Good.”
“Wait a minute…Cloud?! Is that you?! Oh my god, that makeup! And that dress!”
“Nailed it, i know. Thank you. Moving on.”

made two variants like before, just to allow Cloud to inflict some more emotional damage when being sassy.
i had quite fun working on this one, as much as playing Tifa’s rescue chapter in FF VII Remake (although polishing all minor details took quite a while).
the dress is based on his unlockable 2nd tier via slums quests, aka the mid one, wich is probably more in line with the original concept compared to the other 2 alternatives.
shoutout to @Kanna for the little rose on Cloud’ head, that was much appreciated.
flower girl will have to wait another day, i guess.
after all, girls do need their time to get pretty with makeup ![]()
