Hey everyone, I want to give another big thanks for all of the new artwork. As far as playable units and major characters, we’re down to just Vesta and Midge needing updated art. And I wanted to recognize RandomWizard who sent me some visually enhanced maps. Check out this Chapter 4 map.

Deity Device Ch4

It’s been almost a week since I put out my “Bonus” patch, and it looks like it’s gotten around that I’m working on a follow up to DD, so I’ll say a bit more about my plans below.

DD0/2

Of the two playable chapters, one is set long before the events of DD and features Leticia, and the other is set in the future about 100-200 years after the events of DD. That’s pretty indicative of the game’s structure. However, the bulk of the game will be in the future setting, and those units will be the main party that will be built up over the course of the game. The past chapters will be focused on major events rather than linearly following the main events. Because the basics of the past will be known to those who have finished DD, I believe that showing events that shed more light on the past or highlight where history may have been rewritten along the way will be the most impactful. As far as gameplay, these will be built around having a set group of units per chapter.

As you might have gathered. There has been a cultural exchange where some Celesians now observe Jugdrals’s religion. As for magic, tomes and staves are now common things as well because of the cultural exchange. Anima magic now refers to elemental tomes, and the Fire/Thunder/Wind triangle will be in the game. “Divine” is both Light and Dark condensed into one weapon rank. It has triangle advantage over Anima but will be more rare. Leticia magic is DD style magic that has charges per chapter and does effective damage.

My apologies to anyone who was hoping to get to use Sid, Eve, and Adam in the demo. You actually play as them in the next chapter. Sid is a “Prince” who can use Swords, Staves, and Leticia Magic. Eve is Troubadour who can use Swords and Staves, and Adam is a Cavalier who can use Swords and Lances. They all have Canto+.

One more thing I wanted to note is that because of the nature of Leticia’s story, I think that I will have to put a 17+ age rating on Saint’s Blood once I feel I have enough to give it it’s own topic. I hope this doesn’t bother or inconvenience anyone, but I don’t want to compromise telling the story of what happened to her. I can lower it later if the community doesn’t find it necessary. I honestly wasn’t sure what to rate DD, but no one has said that anything I depicted was too extreme. There were things that I thought might cross a line for some people, such as including an abusive relationship, but at the same time, because it was my very first post, I didn’t want to show up and say “Hey guys, I made the most darkest, most hardcore Fire Emblem ever!”

I hope that gives you a decent idea of what I have in the works.

Feel free to send me a note if you’d like me to proofread anything that may be too “mature” or sensitive before you share if you are concerned.

Based on what I’ve played so far, I’m pretty confident you can handle “darker themes” and such with tact. Even reflecting on it is a good sign.

Chapter 18x was very easy especially if you promoted Ivan, Bertram and Olga…

The boss should be stronger (most likely a promoted unit)

You should be able to send items you get to the supply because if your characters were carrying alot of stuff in Chapter 10, they would have to drop the items they get from the enemies especially the good weapons…

I don’t actually have the official track names of all of the songs I used because some the music was added from just listening to the soundtracks of games I had in my GBA collection and adding tracks that I thought would work.

Aside from tracks from the repo, the games I sampled were:

-Temples and holy places usually use dungeon themes as their BGM
-Several maps have the Team Meanies theme as their enemy phase BGM
-The Partner Pokemon’s theme is used
-The enemy phase theme for most monster battles is from this game
Riviera: The Promised Land
-Carson’s battle theme is the battle theme from this game
-Several maps (Chapter 3 and Chapter 7 off the top of my head) use two different boss themes from this game, using one as the player phase BGM and the other as the enemy phase BGM.

And the track that I used as lab background noises is from the area where Deoxys was supposed to be encountered in Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green.

The thing is that the chapter has to built in such a way that it can be cleared even if the player didn’t use the three of them at all or else it would become a softlock. And I don’t think anyone wants an FE10 style Yellow Unit battle. That’s why I included a reward if the three of them are strong enough to beat the promoted units, but most of the enemies aren’t very strong.

I just LOVE this hack. It really tugs at my heart. So many of these characters need a good hug. :upside_down_face: However 27x has been kicking me roughly in the left buttock. :laughing:

After thinking about how to make Vincent feel more worth using in Part 1, I settled on replacing his Sturm and Drang bows with a set of elemental bows. This should give him more damage output, and it makes him the only character in Calista’s party who can deal effective damage to mages. However, he will no longer have a one range option prior to promoting, and he loses one max range as each of these bows is 2-4 range.

If you wind up imagining him shouting the names of his bows like an anime protagonist when he takes a shot, you have only yourselves to blame for sending me back to the drawing board.

Has anyone here been working on a new mug for Vesta? I noticed this in the repository and was thinking of asking the creators if they mind me recoloring it:

She’s still going to use Ninian’s animations, so it makes sense for her hair and dress to still be Ninian’s. But I didn’t want to jump the gun if anyone has something in the works.

I also keep going back to adjust the shading on my new Nathan. I think I finally got the hair oriented correctly with the way he’s facing if that makes sense, but if anyone who’s better at this notices any flaws with it, I’d appreciate the critique.

And to anyone that was disappointed that there weren’t any Fire Emblem announcements at E3, just think of all the hackers who can breath a sigh of relief that they don’t have to worry about an official game taking a name before their project releases. The Queen of Erdus was originally going to be named Rhea, but that would look really awkward now.

Although i’m not sure if it is a bug, i think that chapter 9’s conversation between olga and bertram (the second one) seems to always be available, even though it seems like you are supposed to talk to Ivan between them.
On another note, i’m loving this hacks mechanics and writing, but the map design and difficulty could be done better.

Thanks for the report. I’m assuming you mistyped 9 and meant 5, but it looks like I forgot to add a trigger flag requirement to that conversation when I was making all of the talk events able to be started by either character.

A few more updates. I heard back from Atey who made the Ninian I showed above, and they said I could recolor it, so this is going to be Vesta’s new portrait.

Hopefully she’s different enough now that she won’t activate anyone’s recolor gag-reflex. I like that she won’t look quite so depressed all the time. Gungnir is working on Lailah, and Relic is working on the Patriarch’s alts, so only Midge and Walter don’t have new portraits or one in the works. I actually forgot to list Walter before, but I’m not sure if he really needs a new portrait compared to some of the others. If someone’s a big Walter fan and wants to make one though, then go for it.

I’m also going to be working on a new story sequence set after chapter 23 (numbered 23.5) where the army is spending some time in Flagross getting organized for their next move, and Helen and Lucy’s parents insist on hosting a ball. I know a lot of you are probably thinking, “Why is he adding more dialogue into this game?” But it will give a chance for the characters to talk to each other about all that’s happened up to that point. Even everybody’s favorite myrm will get a few lines. It’s something for which I’ve been tossing ideas around for awhile, and I decided to just do it. And I can say that I’m not going to be making alts for everyone for this scene, but I’ve been working on this fancy Carson.

It probably looks like a pretty big departure, but that was actually one of her pre-release hair colors. And I have something a little different from what I had before in mind for her alts.

But I used the colors from Devisio’s Gregory for her clothes.

btw not sure if I downloaded the wrong version from the OP, but Vincent isn’t removed from the group’s party and shows up in the unit list when you start up disc 2. Assuming this is an oversight from his addition to the game.

That’s very odd. I just double checked the end event for Chapter 10, and he does get removed like he’s supposed to. I also replayed the entire game before releasing the current version and didn’t encounter this.

I transferred over my .sav at the end event of 10, too. Not a big deal, wasn’t sure if you were aware.
