Edit: according to my rom, there’s nothing wrong with Latona? So I really have no idea what the issue is. DM me your save file and I’ll see if I can figure it out.
The same thing happened to me. He doesn’t show up in the “Pick Units”, “Items”, or “Support” lists, so he can’t be picked. I was worried I somehow got him killed in the last Ephraim chapter and didn’t notice, haha. I’m on 2.0 if that matters
@McBeckon@paladin2408 Here’s an updated patch that should fix the Knoll disappearing mystery lol Since initially there was no Eirika chapter in between Unwelcome Diversion and Scorched Sand, the event I had that switches the parties out had failed to include Knoll, since before adding Siege in Shadow, there was no instance where you were switching from Eirika mode to Ephriam mode with Knoll in the party anyway haha. But this should be fixed now!
Phew, I went through reading the whole thread, but it was definitely worth it. This hack looks awesome, and I’m always looking for new ways to enjoy Sacred Stones (the game that brought me into the franchise). You already had me in when I saw you could actually recruit Selena and Glen.
What’s the intended difficulty to play this hack? I’m not a great player particularly but thinking the max difficulty could suit me if there are a ton of overpowered skills
Had a lot of fun with this hack! Went in blind on Maddening mode. My thoughts:
Good:
Daggers are a welcome addition to the game. This added a lot of utility to thieves (who otherwise languish in XP hell).
Many of the new units are fun to use, and more importantly, they do not overshadow existing units.
Kirin is a bit strong for a thief, but I’m not complaining
Paralogue chapters were very fun to play.
No world map is actually rather nice (I prefer it), but there are some issues with the economy when it comes to weapon availability (see below).
L’arachel’s promotion paths are a really nice addition and adds some good variety (I made her a Paladin for fun).
Favorite chapter was probably Chapter 24. It required quite a bit of thinking to get out alive, though the Juna Fruit reward for reaching the village is not very impactful (I currently have had no reason to use it).
I loved the change to Riev in Chapter 29.
Gheb got cancelled o7
Custom weapons of Vigarde, Valter, and Serena are nice.
Some comments about QoL and difficulty:
Once later chapters arrive, all weapons that are available are silver or comparable. For mages, this is a nonissue as Elfire/Divine/Luna are C-rank weapons (and are usable by all promotes, to the best of my knowledge). However, silver weapons are A-rank weapons: if you want to get your newly promoted Hero to use axes, you better have some Steel Axes lying around.
Especially terrible with the Generals, which get E-rank swords on promotion. The only Iron sword I had lying around had 3 uses, so I had to use a Hammerne charge on it
Is it possible to swap the ranks of silver and brave weapons? If this is not easy to change, could later shops also have Iron/Steel weapons/increase promotion weapon ranks?
Ewan is rather useless in this hack (at least in Maddening). I don’t really see any reason to use him over the other mages you get in Eirika’s route. Is it possible to buff his stats a bit?
Or perhaps its because you get him rather late: Amelia was very straightforward to use, but she came on the first chapter of Ephraim’s route. Amelia also became quite broken later
Glen is a bit useless as well. By the time he is recruitable, he has much worse bases than a promoted Cormag. Furthermore, if you do not train him between his joining chapter and the paralogues, he gets one-rounded by all enemies in the paralogue. My understanding is that Glen needs to stay alive during the paralogues, so he becomes a liability considering that he is a mandatory deploy.
The last two chapters of the game are trivial if you play through the paralogues. Your units are level 15+ whereas the enemy units are like level 3, and you can just stat check the enemy without strategy.
Chapter 25: a bit too easy? Caellach gets one-rounded by Joshua, so maybe he should get some special weapon that makes him a bit hard to kill.
Myrrh trivializes a lot of the hard bosses (Valter, Orson). At least in the case of Valter, it is unclear how to kill him without Myrrh given that his special weapon drains health + he has very good hit.
He’s a mandatory deploy, but his death doesn’t cause a game over. Same with Selena and Duessel. The only requirement is that he and Duessel need to be alive to unlock the paralogue.
Yeah I can probably do that. And I’ll prolly change General promos to at least D swords, because E swords is just…why
Damn, I even made it so the enemies get extra autolevels if you go to the paralogue lol I guess I can buff that a bit. But either way, the endgame being a breeze is kind of your reward for unlocking the paralogue. Endgames are always hard to design.
I’ve been playing this hack for a while and I have a lot (mostly positive) to say about it once I’m done. I recently got to Scorched Sands and for some reason Knoll straight up disappeared from Unit Selection entirely. Is this an actual feature of this chapter, or have I encountered some kind of glitch? I’m using the 2.0 patch (or whatever the version before 2.12 was) if that helps.
