[FE8] Fire Emblem: Steel Over Blood(10/? Chapters) [WIP_Project]

Changes were made after I got some critique from playtesters:

Notes
  • Thunder & Elthunder not being able to follow up in exchange for granting 2-3 range damage.

  • Berserker Axe effects are explained more clearly in the description after installing a weapon description expansion patch.

  • Devil Axe and Devil Sword grant +5 ATK/DEF/RES for more risk and reward fun.

  • Lumina Lance and Wind Sword damage has been changed to attack DEF stat at 1 range but RES stat at 2 range.

  • Avoid calculation changed to Speed + Luck/2 instead of Speed*2 + Luck.

  • Ulkfold Axe MT have gone from 10 to 11.

  • Thierris con went up from 8 to 13.

  • Suliaman’s base DEF went up from 4 to 7, DEF growth went from 45% to 50%.

  • Penelope’s level went down to level 3.

  • Hyde has been given a Squall Brand (A weapon that prevents an enemy from counterattacking) in ch6x instead of a lancereaver to handle enemies better.

  • Penelope’s villager promotion has been changed to Archer/Hunter instead of Archer/Peg Rider.

  • Hunter class and Weyfarer class have been added. Hunter learns Seal Res at level 5, while Weyfarer can learn Outdoor Fighter and Countermagic.

  • Reinforcement units in ch7 have had their numbers decreased.

  • Less 1-2 range weapons held by enemies in ch6x.

  • Turn-based reinforcements are removed in Ch9.

  • Glass Lance has been removed.

Bug Fixes
  • The boss in ch6x no longer charges at you and instead stays on the throne, allowing you to be able to visit houses.
  • After you get the extra scene from completing set conditions in ch7 and choosing yes when prompted with a choice in the end event, the following event has broken dialogue; this is no longer the case now.
  • Keys in ch4 are dropped with proper durability now.
  • Nicolas will no longer be able to target Suzzane in ch6… yeah, he used to be able to kill her… my bad for allowing that lol.
  • Lenora’s 2 range animation for Peacemaker+ has been fixed.
  • A glitch where if you save during the prep screen in ch7 and reset, it erases the first unit selected on your army. This has been fixed.
  • Missing dialogue in a visiting house in ch4 has been fixed.

I also wanted to show you one major map change I did, specifically ch9. I never did bring this up, but that map had a complete rehaul because I thought the original one looked ugly.

Unfortunately, until I get more critique on the branching paths leading to different maps for ch10, I won’t be posting the new patch here until I am sure everything is good enough for public release!

There’s a couple spelling mistakes, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this project. I’d love to help in any way if needed.

A new patch is finally available for Steel Over Blood! Including 10 playable chapters!

Previously, only chapters 0-6 were available, but now you can play ch6x, 7, 8, 9, 10A, and 10B. This is a more updated version than what was exclusively available in the Discord server. And I hope you all see this as good potential for what is coming soon for the project.

As of now, mostly minor bug fixes, grammar checks, and animation changes. Such as:

  • Peacekeeper+ range animation change.
  • Malefic Aura is a player-only skill that can be learned by mages.
  • All Rally skills are player-only.
  • Map Icons appear on enemy units to display if they have droppable items, thanks to Vesley’s patch.
  • Easy mode disables learned class skills for enemies.
