@Zakuzelo@LewynCollins the two of you have it basically nailed down. Don’t worry about me retconning anything due to people’s reactions, positive or negative.
Elyse is gone. Kind of dead, insofar as her reincarnation has no memory of being her and is more-or-less a different person. In the sequel, Elyse and Edric’s daughter (the next incarnation of Elyse, I mean) is eight years old. Edric, a somewhat depressed widower in his thirties, wants to save his daughter from his wife’s fate and will stop at nothing to make that happen. This isn’t at all the main plot of the sequel, but it’s certainly part of the drama to come.
I did not plan to orignally use Shiela, but Harlan rejoined too late to the point that Shiela was already trained, so I ran both of them. Side note, on the chapter when Edric and Shorn captured and Sheila saves them, if u didn’t train Edric or Shorn, well, your screwed.
Next was Ruslan, and he was used to help chip down enemies and kill scary flying enemies. His talk with Edgar gave him more utility in the endgame, which saved him from the bench.
Eleanora was a mainstay from the moment she was recruited. Dancers are great and she came in clutch with the restore staff when all my staffers where berserked or asleep.
I liked using Elyse. I dumped a lot of resources into her, and lost a lot of team power when she left, by doing this though, she was an amazing unit upon promotion who was an instant staple to the party. She carried many lategame maps.
Galen was good at taking on mounted units with his prf, but that was about all he could do combatwise. I liked his character, and how he chose putting Miley before knighthood when it really mattered, choosing not to go with Hadrian. Well written character overall.
Tancred was mid throughtout the entire game, and I used him because of the story (like Galen. They could both be amazing combat units, I just got stat screwed). I hope to see Tancred again the sequel, and I hope his character can be expanded upon.
Catrine was a great staffer. She used both of my hammernes and warps. Like Tancred, I hope to see Catrine in the sequel, and her relationship with Sophia developed further.
Alexias was the mvp once he got going. Great speed and luck meant he never got hit, and his magic stat let him chip damage with weaker tomes, and kill with stronger ones. He took out Zeddard on the map you defeat Velaina and Royce, which I am pretty sure was not meant to happen. He got A support with Hilda.
Dwalt was my other mvp, once he hit below half hp, he was unstoppable. I got him the A support with Rivkah, even though I didn’t use her, but Rivkah seems like a fun unit.
I like how Shorn became Edric’s right hand man, and I got him the A support with Shiela. I love the sibling dynamic, and Shorn’s relationship with his parents and siblings are relatable to me. Combat wise, Shorn got stength screwed, eating all of my energy rings.
Hilda was my main cavalier for the game, and her supports with Alexias were fun. Hilda ended up being a decent dodge tank, with good defenses, with canto and good rescue utility. Great supporter for the army.
Julia was definitely a story character then an actually good unit. It was hard to her to talk to her mother because Zeddard would kill one of them before that happened. Something funny happened though, I put Zeddard to sleep, allowing me to win. There is a lot of potential for Julia in the sequel.
Miley was a great unit once she got deadeye, and I loved her supports with Galen. I used a hammerne on the Kiss of Death, one of the best prf weapons in the game imo.
Freya had great flier utility, and I got her the A support with Edric, although it’s non canon its great. I always love the play as the bosses trope, and finally being accepted by Ormer before his death was great for her character.
Finally, the main man himself Edric. Although he got strength screwed it was fine because his supports with everyone made it better. Giving the player 4 broadswords was a smart play, as I never felt I was on danger of losing his prf forever. A question about the sequel: Will Edric be the protagonist, or a side character? Whatever you decide, I know the sequel is going to be great.
I would recommend checking out this hack, great story with character depth. I you already played and are waiting for the sequel like me, check out @Vesly 's randomizer.
I think how the randomizer works is you download the TDA randomized .ups file, you combine with a clean FE8 rom using NUPS, and then you’re good to go. It uses the latest version of TDA (v1.7).
Also thanks so much for writing you’re detailed team breakdown! Your Alexias is incredibly powerful!
Regarding your question...
To answer your question from your team breakdown, Edric is not the main protagonist of the sequel. That being said, he is an important side character (the King of Redenze is one of the most powerful political figures on the continent, after all)!
You could go the Seth/L’Arachel route, is not that hard to do… if you are implementing it from the beginning. Implementing something like this would require a major rework to deployment and cutscenes, so I do understand avoiding the implementation so far.
So your solution is not bad, but man, it makes it a bit tiresome to play just because someone got crit.
Hi, im not Vorgus. If I had to take a guess, I would say the supports unlock immediately upon story progression, then you get another in a few chapters, unless you delay the support. Just wait a few chapters and you’ll have it.
Support points are gained by being deployed in the same chapter, not by standing beside each other. So, I’ve designed it in such a way that even if you deploy two units in every map, they won’t gain support fast enough for a support conversation to happen before it should in the story.
A supports are tough to get and generally require units to be deployed in nearly all maps where they’re both in your army. I mean, not quite all but probably close to 80%.
Let me know if there’s a specific support you’re worried about and I can tell you more about the rate at which support points are gained for it.
