I just finished this romhack. This was my first experience in playing Fire Emblem romhacks, it was incredible. I love how unique everyone felt, and the way personal weapons were handled was awesome. And the movement options in this game felt so nice to use. (And turn saves were really nice because I played it on my 3DS so I didn’t have save states)

I really like that there was a route split. There were so many characters I wanted to use but not enough to use them over my existing favourites, so splitting the armies was a great way to handle that.

Even with that, I still didn’t get to use all the units as much I wanted to, I feel like coming back after while and using a different army will be a lot of fun and offer a new gameplay experience.

Are there any romhacks that are similar to Cerulean Crescent in terms of gameplay elements and unique characters?

Character stuff

Here are some of my thoughts on the characters. Some spoilers.

On the map when I was invading Enan was when everything clicked and my play went full throttle. At that point I realised just how strong Lindros and Ellerie are together, as I could setup the refresh wherever I wanted. And I noticed that a lot of the enemy groups (on more that just this map) can be engaged without sitting inside the next groups range. So I played super aggressive for the rest of the game.

Krynia, wow she is good. I think mine was speed blessed, because she ended the game with 25 speed (without coffee). She was also really tanky, but she was also my flag user, so I didn’t realise just how good of an enemy phase unit she was until I saw she just took no damage from anything that wasn’t magic (if only there was a lance that solved that).

There is nothing I can say about Oriana that hasn’t already been said. Goated dancer.

Mince was great, both in story and in gameplay. I also think he was speed blessed because he was also doubling some enemies on the endgame map. I used a bunch of magic weapons on him. Really fun armour knight, especially for someone whose enemy phases barely saw any combat.

Qiulan, great healer, great damage dealer. Only realised his bulkiness on the first part of Oriana’s endgame.

Gecko, has galeforce, is a trainee, sign me up.

The chickens, genuinely so much fun. I can’t think of a better holder of plucker’s gift than Vermillion, even if he needed every attack stat booster because he barely levelled it himself. Idk if it was intentional, but Vermillion ignoring all terrain was super useful on the endgame map where there were large sections of ā€œflier-proofā€ map that he could just canto back into for complete safety.

Pomelo, cool boat, fun ranged unit, mainstay of the team.

John XVI, mutate was a very fun skill, it would make her super broken sometimes. When it didn’t, she was just regular broken.

I’m sure I’m forgetting some units, because they were all really cool.

Spoiler Questions

So what was with the Plucker thing near the end. What would have happened if I didn’t find Plucker’s gift (which nearly happened, but I stopped for the night, and had to redo 3x). What would have happened if I didn’t get that event? Would I have been locked into the Waterfall ending, the Oren escape ending, or something else entirely? And if you get the Oren escape chapter, was that just Ellerie dying in her sleep? Did Plucker remove Ellerie’s eye and replace it a cursed one? That what it seems like based on how Ellerie escapes it by removing her eye, but they why was no one surprised by her suddenly missing an eye. I’m very confused by this.

And is Wisp the princess? The princess didn’t have a sprite in the dream sequence, but her battle animations had the same hair colour as Wisp, and there is a the A support with Ellerie. Did those mines just manifest her spirit into existence as an ally, or is there something else going on here? Does anyone acknowledge her existence? And why was she able to appear in Ellerie’s dream? Was the Wisp that appears in the dream the same one as in your army? I didn’t use her so I’m not sure. Either way, I do like how Wisp is kinda just always there to support Ellerie, even if she doesn’t notice.

And I nearly forgot to praise the humour in this game. The writing was great, and even the non-written jokes like giving NPCs items that I have no way of getting, and then finally giving Bobby right when it is basically useless is hilarious.

I can confidently say that Cerulean Crescent is one of a kind. There is no other hack like it in my eyes.
But you are new to the Romhack scene so go out and explore. Each new hack have their own charm you have to find that charm for yourself.
Good Luck and Have Fun finding and playing other Romhacks. Thanks for sharing your experience and fun with us :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

CC being a first romhack is kinda wild, glad it went well.

Spoilers

Not taking the deal just skips the dream sequence chapters and the alternate Oren endgame.

The idea with Plucker’s Gift is that upon the contract being complete (the person dies), their existence gets taken up to the point they made the contract. Ellerie’s presence is erased up to 3x and the story continues with Oren as the Chief. It’s kind of suggested by Seguradez and the Princess, who is, of course, Wisp. She took the deal before Ellerie, got erased, escaped through the Puncture in c13 and supported her loved one from beyond.

Wait, I think I know what Seguardez paid for, but what did the Princess pay Plucker for?

Also hold on, is that why the Princess has no name?

I found out about it through a Mekkah stream, or rather, the thumbnail for the stream. I don’t actually watch live content lmao. From there I just googled the name of the romhack he was playing and found my way here.

Spoilers

So with the Oren ending, characters with Ellerie from the start of the journey would just forget she was there in the beginning?

The princess making a deal with Plucker explains why Wisp has no eyes. But if her existence before the deal was erased, then how come Ellerie remembers them first meeting, did she really make the deal that young, or is it a side effect of the Plucker deal?

Does everyone not reacting to Ellerie missing an eye imply that her existence before 3x was erased without her dying? And was the only benefit for Ellerie in the deal the gift of mobility (and the bonus chapters, but that’s more a gift to the player)?

Did any other character with missing eyes make a deal with Plucker? Or are Vermillion (I love he has an eyepatch btw) and Jouful Jo just like that?

Spoilers

What I think it is personally is that Plucker’s retroactive erasure doesn’t always result in what you think it might.

Hightide, for example. A town that exists on the map, but nobody’s ever from, nobody seems to have heard of, and where nobody comes from. That’s also another implied Plucker casualty- but the thing is, arguably, it was simply too big to truly undo entirely, and I think the Princess is in the same boat.

Her existence is too important to truly just… wholly retcon entirely.

A lot of character just have missing eyes. I think it’s cool.

Spoilers

Plucker’s deal only erases the individual up to the point of the deal. Ellerie only remembers being broken out by Mince alone because the Princess made her deal before breaking Ellerie out. The implication is that the Princess was on the journey alongside Ellerie before perishing at some point. Similarly, Oren’s endgame has the party remember Ellerie up to 3x.

Plucker’s gift is just kind of a general ā€˜make a deal to be more successful’ kinda vibe.

The only other person who previously made a deal is Gecko in the party.

Honestly, I wonder what that would have been like. It would probably have been the story Qiulan wanted all along…

I wonder when the princess died in the journey?

Spoiler

That makes sense. From the time of the contract to death gets erased. But then what was killing Ellerie? Was it Plucker?

And that means the princess’s execution didn’t happen, everyone just thinks that because of Plucker’s influence, right?

Spoiler

Plucker just comes to collect their taxes for this one since Ellerie needs to be alive.
Honestly,. it might have made more sense to point to Ellerie having a near death experience, but should’ve thought of that beforehand.

Yeah, that’s correct.

Spoiler

Pay the Plucker motherclucker

(I’m sorry I couldn’t resist).

Apologies for the messed up multi-post reply thing.
Had to update the patch for some MAJOR fixes, such as fixing the cutoff on Oren’s glorious locks.

what are the other fixes?

Bunch of pretty niche stuff like typos, cutscene eventing reacting oddly to unit death, summons autolevelling properly etc.
It’s really just the locks.
