It’s epic Thorne 2 time.
Look, I tried a new thumbnail style. Hopefulyl having a bit more action.
This chapter turned out to be pretty tough actually. It is the longest Chapter so far. Although part of it is that I played with Thinking time. But yeah, I am happy I could make a pretty tough feeling chapter. A chapter that gives value to high defense units by giving you targets that appreciate high defense. This chapter sorta has Shadow Dragon vibes in my opinion. With the trio joining you and you facing way too strong foes it does remind me of early Shadow Dragon. Like the map where Roshea joins.
But yeah, considering how many units you obtain, I think having a lethal map is completely fine. And it does make the lords worse, considering how excellent they are in gameplay, then being “Game Over conditions” makes them worse units. In this game about risk units you cannot risk are bad.
But I do hope that the next chapters will be simpler. At least a map that CAN be simple. Considering a strategy will be just to send you tough units in the middle and storm the boss. Although you would miss out on recruits and chests. I think I am going to reduce the number of chests or something.
You know, I think it’s funny but the game does like encourage you picking an extra thief and the bulwark. I think that is great.

Just a heads up for the upcoming Throne 3. Shit is about to go down story wise in the very next chapter.

What if the generics have some kind of hidden trait, triangle attack and/or some kind of amplified support bonus between eachother? This could give them a unique gimmick on top being “generic”.

I am not sure how exactly I could make it happen. But I did something like in an upcoming map I made the enemies all have + 5 con.
Who knows, maybe I can give groups of enemies a support among themselves and therefore being in their own range this increases their stats. But only slightly. Like maybe 2 hit and 2 avoid per person in range. But this stacks. Though I would have to experiment to see if that would work.

THORNE 3 THORNE 3 THORNE 3 THORNE 3
So this chapter is okay. Honestly I did a very bad clear of this map. Like in my other run I did a way faster and cleaner clear where due to having two lockpick users I could go left and right at the same time. And also yay, big epic story moment, the story suddenly growing in stakes and presenting it’s true colors. I hope that the end will do the game justice. As while things may seem confusing now, I hope things will make more sense in a second playthrough.
Also gameplay changes:
Orion’s Bolt now also promotes fliers
Veteran Belt now also promotes thieves
I do this to reduce the fat and give all promotion item a good choice of targets.
It also give me two new icons I can use for new weapons using new icons. Hooray.
By the way, I am thinking about making Thorne 5 a map that maybe combines a survive map with a magic seal but all the enemies are physical thus making it a map where you have a disadvantage you need overcome by defeating the seal.

Is there going to be another update coming?
Im willing to wait if it does have one soon
I think so. Thorne 4 is actually already complete, I just have to put it to video. I am doing pretty good progress right now.
By the way, I just realized that my game basically has very few changes between Normal and Hard mode due to Hard mode bonuses not existing and the maps not really having different enemy pools. So I am thinking about maybe increasing the “Normal mode bonus” by giving Normal mode a few benefits. Probably a Silver Card at the start of the game you can use to make the economy much easier to handle and that maybe all of the Thorne preperation choices come with an aditional item, like a statbooster or a red gem. And then I will probably give Aireth a significant easy mode change as well.
Though I am not completely sure what to do and how exactly “Normal Mode” will look. Hopefully I can make it a slightly easier mode. I doubt Normal mode will be MUCH easier as the game design will probably not change. But I want to create something like a “Normal Mode Bonus”. The game has two difficulty settings, I want to embrace them. Or I just apply the fix of giving Lyn and Eliwood Hard mode Hard mode bonuses as well and thus make Normal mode the difficulty I am playing right now.
Or maybe I will design the difficulty split once I am done with the main game and I go into the first testing phase. My idea is that before I do the “Final release” I do something like a preview release so that I can fix bugs and obvious problems before saying the game is “Fully complete”

Thorne 4 is here
Wow, I did a really poor clear of it. But before you ask, there is a way to see the mines before hand. Three tiles ahead of the holes are mines. That’s it. I just play REALLY poorly. I should include the Augury that explains these things next time lol.
Btw a few news:
-If you want or aren’t strong enough to best Final 1 and 2 you can “give up” for special endings. That way I can make defeating Final 1 and 2 meaningful while also giving you a way out if you aren’t strong enough while not just having a softlocked save file.
-I am planning on releasing a seperate patch once the game is done where all of your player units have the strenght of generic enemies, like with the same Growth Rates Total and other stuff like that. Being the difficult mode, a mode where your strenght is equal to the enemy, It will probably also include making Lords weaker, like that all lords have 1 weapon typte at base and two after promotion. To make them akin to normal units on a power scale. I hope that actually making your units as strong as the enemy gives it a great difficulty.
-I think I will give Miku access to Staff’s instead of swords. But like E rank Staff’s. I feel like this “Support Bot” Miku would have a better reason to be used if instead of lyn combat, she has the utility of casting heal. While she is probably the worst healer, she is a healer plus a “Support Bot”, which I think will make her a great pick. Also I think I will give her 6 move. Like while she is the healer with the worst rank and therefore least variety of staff usage, her being a support bot hopefully like combines neatly. Like Miku rushes into the range of Thorne to heal him and buffs his attack on top of that.
-I may also increase the picks you get in Prep 1 from 4 to 6 if by the end of the game there are enough slots left.
I may also do an “Easy Mode” patch that just makes the game easier. Like then the game would have three difficulties with a slightly easier mode. I think I will make normal mode pretty much the same, just that you have the “Seth Bonus” and you get a few items. Maybe the “Mario Kart Double Dash disc items” Or something akin to them.
Like in Aireth mode you obtain: “Earth Seal”, “Light Brand”, “Silver Card”
And in Thorne mode you obtain: “Silver Card” and one of every stat booster send to your convoy ready to be used. As well as one of every “Emblem Weapon” that have been edited to give double WEXP.
I think these things will make your time in the game easier while not being too much.
And so with 6 difficulty modes I can hopefully give the player just the difficulty they seek.

In the footage the battle backgrounds are town not caves.
You should change the battle backgrounds in the chapter editor to match the new maps

This is from FE6 but menus should look similar.

I present: My map for Thorne 5

My idea for it is that it is a defend map where you start to the left. But it is a map that really encourages you to go out. There is an optional miniboss in the form of the magic seal, there are 7 red houses to collect, your first chance to shop after two shopless maps as well as pretty much your last shop before the end, and an arena. All while needing to defend yourself from hoardes of flying enemies.
But hey, this adds the arena to the game without the possibility to arena grind.
Also with the lords special prf weapons being effective against fliers, a fliers heavy map does give you a taste of the weapons power, although you should make sure to not overdo it.
So yeah, this will be the map I will make for Thorne 5. (The last original map btw as Thorne 6 and 7 being on dread isle will be inspired by dread isle maps from vanilla.)

@Shamiyama I’ve created a quick hotfix patch for it!
(The hotfix has been implemented into the main v1.0b patch)
It changes Jonah’s AI so that he now simply holds position and doesn’t move.
This hotfix also makes Bella have the correct Assassin class if she appears in Cog of Destiny, so she doesn’t try to move in to steal items anymore.
Patch in a new vanilla USA Fire Emblem 7 rom, then copy your save for the new patched rom.
Sorry about that, and enjoy!

Okay!
So, there are 8 “Recruit” choiuces which can be choosen after Thorne 4
-Mikhail (Sword/Dark)
-Nikolaos (Anima/Staff)
-Jenny (Light/Staff)
-Iver (Axe/Lance/Mounted)
-Darezin (Dragon)
-Pelagia (Anima/Staff/Mounted)
-Lilith (Axe/Lance/Flying)
-Brigid (Bow/Axe/Mounted)
Which units should I pick for the dummy playthrough?
(Darezin has a 1-3 range dragon stone, mounted/flying units have lower weapon ranks than infantry.)
Since you guys will see it, I can leave the suggestion up to you!
(At least a little bit, I can only choose 2 since I don’t want this to disolve into the player getting infinite OP prepromotes.)

Why does the magic seal range look like that?
You know, considering the bug that causes units capable of physical and magical attacks to be able to attack. I may cut the magic seal from this version. I can just have Narty be a random red unit that does not move but you can target for a Hard Fruit anyway.
Like a red villager male, I think that could be funny. To have a red villager.

They’re backups, ya birthday-stealing hack
Hey guys. The reason I have not really shown progress here is because I just finished a BIRTHDAY THING FOR MY MOM: [FE8] [Completed] Aurelia 2017 - 1 chapter experiment
It actually takes place in the same world as this project, though it is fairly unimportant I did include some lore in it. The map I use is an edited version of the map Thorne 5 will use, so I can do epic “Look how it changed in two years!” subtle worldbuilding.
But yeah, I can hopefully now do more progress on this project with that Birthday Interlude now over.
