[FE 9+10 Remake][Completed] Rebuild FE9,10 in gba use FE8(Translation HIRING)

Yeah, well, for now I got back to chapter 10 in Hard/Classic/Fixed and I’m actually enjoying myself again by trying to clear the maps somewhat fast (exception being CH9, because again, I refuse to drag an untrained Mist into the BK fight even in Hard). So I’m still rigging occasionally, but I’m actually accomplishing something by doing it this time, rather than doing it to force stats to grow. And not having to do that because I chose Fixed Growths feels so good e.e.

(Incidentally, I’m now even more convinced that Fixed Growths are a death sentence in Maniac)

Mist starts with the Florete in her join chapter, but I didn’t know about its uses being replenished each map, for obvious reasons. Good to know! I’d prefer not having to throw multiple Master Seals her way, but such is life.

For Hard Mode bonuses, despite my lack of expertise I actually know a little bit about it, and I definitely know that Zihark doesn’t have them because of how the author handled that map overall. Makalov and Devdan having them instead makes a lot of sense.

By the way, do you happen to know something about the scrolls that the bosses of chapters 10 and 11 hold? Off the top of my head they seem to be the same item, according to the icon at least, but I haven’t gotten my hands on one yet and as I said before the translator didn’t help me much. I can only make an assumption and say they’re Occult scrolls, but I’m not sure.

They are combat art scrolls. +14mt iirc. There’s another red colored combat art scrolls that gets +21mt.
Also adapt is a brave effect combat art instead, and you can obtain a few scrolls for that later on.

Okay, maybe not the place to post, but maybe someone can direct me otherwise. I’m trying to play this FE9 hack on my EZ FLASH Omega Flashcart, and I can start a new game, and it will create the file, but if I play normally (lets say I save at Chapter 10, for arguments sake), wait the recommended 10 seconds before I turn it off, when I tuern it on and go to start it again, it will start me back at the first chapter, as if it doesn’t save after the initial creation of my file. Anyone got any ideas?

Please use simulator, there will be some problem with flashcart.

Okay, thank you for the response! I’ve gotta say, I’m a HUGE fan of this one! Google Lens is my best friend right now since I can’t understand it otherwise, definitely excited to see a translation eventually, but this is absolutely fantastic! Also can’t wait to see finished FE10!!

How far has the translation of the hack progressed?

We haven’t finish it yet because we forgot the image of enemy boss. We just finished it. Here is some of the new updates for the end chapter.

That looks pretty amazing! Keep up the good work!

So I’ve finally finished the game and can’t wait to share how I feel about it.

  • First of all, it must be admitted that this is a good game, it brings many features that were first updated in FE9 (such as skill scrolling, chapter chat, skill system for each class. …). Some mods currently have some of these features added, but not fully.
  • This game gives a good look if you are not able to play the actual FE9. The entire plot is brought in quite completely, including the events in the game (such as receiving items if eligible, triggering dialogue…).
  • Added a large number of items + special areas on the world map.
  • Allow to choose fixed growth rate / random growth rate when starting the game.

However, in the process of playing, I also discovered some points for improvement / bugs.

  • Triangle Attack cannot be performed. In FE9, there are 2 pairs of trio capable of performing Triangle Attack, which are 3 green haired brothers and 3 pegasus girls. However, it didn’t happen when I tried putting them side by side.
  • Error displayed when promoting for Oscar, Markalov, Kieran. When they were promoted to Paladins, their image was damaged. Even after I changed them to Villager class and promoted in another direction.
  • Skill scrolls do not display buff content. I have to save a draft before trying to get my character to learn a skill. That’s quite annoying.
  • The base conversation dialogue is reset after reloading the save game.
  • Mage Class is divided into 3 types: Fire, Thunder and Wind Mage. I think this is a minus.
  • Cavalry, Knight is also divided into 3 types based on Sword, Lance, Ax weapons. I also see this as a minus. Bow Cavalry is for women only, which is sad. Lack of custom classes.
  • Reyson cannot transform into Heron and Chant for 4 allies at the same time. And he can’t use the Laguz Stone either.
  • Sniper is overkill. Below is Berserker. Anything else… not worth. After unlock extra map, if you play hard/ extreme then go and change all your character to Sniper and you can one hit almost everything.
  • Extreme is just… extreme hard. You may not clear even chapter 1. Hard is also very hard, which required luck above all.
  • No where to spam exp. World map is pretty much worthless, nothing to do except go to other place for shopping. And you can only farm exp in extra map arena.
  • Demoted characters to village class also downgraded them in both stats and skills. They should at least bring their stats.
  • No Occult Scroll! (Maybe I just missing it). But Stevan didn’t give it to me in chapter 16!
  • Can’t get Geoffrey to join the team! Even if he survives chapter 24. This is definitely a bug.
  • Dark Magic almost disappeared from the game (probably because FE9 doesn’t have it). Arena is the only place where enemies use Dark Magic.
  • The game ends after defeating Ashnard. No save game allowed, no epilogue, no post-game and no unlock support conversation.
  • Ike’s Support is not the same as the original (he can’t create support with Oscar either). And also no dialogue when trigger support.
  • Some special events such as traps, rock slides… are not reproduced.
  • Characters have lower max stats than they really are, Mia only has max 40 HP even though I promoted her. In addition, Mia also does not have +5 ATK skill when equipped with Sword.

The only thing I have to say (as someone else who played through the game) is that the mage and cavalry classes are divided up based on weapon/magic type is because that’s how they were in FE9. You might consider it a minus, but it’s how things were in the vanilla game. To me its just a case of the authors being true to the original source.

Cavaliers were divided, but not mages. FE9 had a uniform mage class that could use Fire, Thunder and Wind magic all at once. Same with sages, and all 5 of the playable units (Soren, Ilyana, Tormod, Calill and Bastian) benefitted from this.

Great feedbacks, I really appreciate them. All your improvement / bugs we have experienced before. We tried our best to reproduce the material, but you still can see something that is hard to implement. Let me try to answer you the question one by one.

  1. We don’t have arrow triangle attack.

  5. It’s our design, we want the diversity. In my fe9 experience, I can just use soren.

  8. We want to continue building fe10, so you will see it’s not just Sniper and Berserker. They are powerful in 2-tier but not 3-tier.
  9. You can choose the difficulty, not me, right?
  10. Three Houses can do mining, fighting and many activities.

  12. You can learn the skill and even buy the skill scroll, nothing to use occult scroll.
  13. It’s a bug, we will fix it in fe10.

Ah, about magicians, cavalrymen, knights are divided into 3 classes based on their weapons.
The secondary weapon mastery unlock feature has not been included. That makes using the default class inefficient. Which I redeemed as a minus.
I changed Soren to Mage Knight, because this class can use both Wind and Thunder. In FE9, Anima is split into 3 separate mastery, however I don’t know if it’s possible to do so in this game.
My thinking is that when they promote to 2 tiers, they should be able to unlock extra weapons (and possibly all of them when they promote to 3rd tier). I remember FE9 calvary can choose their second mastery when promoted.

Bonus: Stefan is the only one to reach the SS mastery (except for the enemy units). I’ll try transferring him to another class to see if he loses his mastery. Although I don’t mind that much, because there are not many SS weapons offered in the game. The meaning of mastery SS is not mentioned.

Hey @explosionwolf, I really like what you did with the battle frame in both the small tweaks as well as the palette. Looks really good!

If I could make one recommendation, you should run this script in Event Editor. It will move the weapon icons up by one pixel in the battle frame and things should fit much more cleanly in the frame (rather than running through the bottom of the item box a bit). The script can be found here:
