Artists why do you art? (semi rant?)

I’m a little late, but l wanted to toss in a unique perspective. A majority of the time when I make any kind of art, it’s out of necessity. If l think of something that no one’s done before and l know l can do it myself, l gotta do it. Or sometimes, it’s more personal and l just wanna see something done with my own techniques. The opportunity doesn’t arise for me very often in this community, but I did repalette those dragon map sprites; that’s something I was very proud to complete, so I made absolutely sure I posted it for anyone to use.

I in particular don’t care for any fame, but I do want to make things that people can get use out of. I think it’s because I grew up using free stuff almost exclusively. I’ve gotten so much use out of other people’s creations and I never gave anything in return, so now it’s made me want to pay things forward with stuff of my own. Just knowing that my work is out there for anyone to utilize makes me feel like l’m helping out someone who can’t afford commissions or just creators in general. I guess another aspect is l never really stop to enjoy the things I create because I’m always trying to create something else. Getting it out to the public could also be my way of making sure someone can truly appreciate it, but that I’m more speculating on.

But, yeah. That’s my very particular way looking at my own art creation. I’m sure other people have a little bit of it, too, but paying it forward is a core thing for me.

wonder if my works do this heh, I suppose it’s not as much people aren’t using them as much as I’m not seeing them be used, mayhaps in their personal projects and such. hope they contribute to something someday but you never know yknow heh

Or maybe my stuff is just too obscure or unusual to use in hacks, guess not a lotta hacks could justify a giant spider with a ballista on it.

I now need to prove you wrong by coming up with an excuse to use all of your stuff.
