Inspiring Leader (Currently Not Functioning) - Roy - When equipped with a Prf Weapon, bestow a 2 square aura (Tier 1 - 15% Hit. Tier 2 - 15% Hit, 10% Crit. Tier 3 - +2 Damage, 15% Hit, 10% crit)

Moonlight Princess- Lilina - Adjacent units take -3 Damage and do +1 Damage

Future Sovereign - Zealot - For each Ilian besides Zealot deployed, +1 Damage -1 Damage recieved (Caps at 6/6)

Charisma? - Clarine - Bestows a 3 range aura that gives +5% Hit, -10% Avoid and +2 Damage

Prediction - Sophia - Bestows a 3 square aura of +25% Hit, +25% Crit Evade and -25% Crit

Great General - Douglas - For each Etrurian General besides Douglas, Douglas gains +3/-3 (To a cap of 6/6)

Life and Death - Bartre - When engaging the enemy, Bartre deals +5 damage and takes +5 damage

Towering Knight - Bors - For each 2 con above the enemies, deal +1 damage (No cap)

Magic General - Cecilia - Add 1/2 Strength to damage when attacking with Magic

Battlefield Tactics - Dieck - When fighting on Terrain with a bonus, gain +2 Damage, +10% Hit

Rebellious Soul - Echidna - When fighting on a space with no terrain effects, gain +2 Damage, +10% Avoid

Knighthood - Eliwood - When level is equal to or higher than enemies, Do +2 damage, take -2 Damage

Crescendo - Elphin - Every 3 turns, Elphin gains +1 more damage to a cap of +5

Scheming - Erik - When attacking +20% Crit, When attacked -20% Crit

Etrurian Agent - Erk - For each rank in Lance beyond E rank +1 Damage when using lances

Chivalry? - Saul - Against Male Enemies +3 Damage, Against Female Enemies -3 Damage

Lightning Strike - Zeiss - When facing flying enemies +15% Hit Rate and Avoid. Gain an additional +3 damage to unit so long as they are mounted

Intimidate - Garret - Enemies Avoid reduced -20% in combat

Crowd Fighter - Fir - When engaged by enemies without the boss tag, +2 Damage, +5% Crit, +10% Avoid

Trample - Miledy - Gain +3 damage vs non-mounted units

Shadowgift - Hugh - For each rank in dark magic, gain +1 Damage

Specialist - Gale - The fewer equippable items you have, the more Damage you do (5 Weapons = +0, 4 Weapons (+1), 3 Weapons (+2), 2 Weapons (+3), 1 Weapon (+5)

Solar Princess - Guinevere - When using a Lance, half of the Magic stat is added to Damage. Negates Patriotism

Opportunist - Igrene - When attacking an enemy who cannot counter attack, gain +4 damage

Bowbreaker - Juno - When fighting units equipped with Bows, Gain +50 Hit and +50 Avoid

Sword Saint - Karel - When Engaging the enemy, +2 Damage, +15% Critical rate, -10% Avoid, When engaged by the enemy take -3 damage and gain +5% Crit, +10% Avoid

Revengeance - Lyn - Damage +2 and Crit +10% when fighting Bern soldiers and Manakete enemies (Incl. Bosses)

Basic Training - Mary - When fighting an enemy using a weapon of a higher Rank than Mary’s equipped weapon, Mary gains +2 Damage, +15% Hit

Aggressive Knight - Noah - When engaging the enemy, +2 Damage, -1 Doubling Threshold

Prodigy - Percival - +7% Hit, +7% Crit Evade, +7% Evade

Starfall - Ray - Reduce enemy resistance by 1/4th when fighting. (Considering 1/3rd)

Murderous - Rutger - When initiating battle, +2 Damage, +10% Critical rate, -10% Avoid

Defensive Knight - Treck - When engaged by the enemy, -3 Damage Recieved, -1 Doubling Threshold

Guts - Wendy - While level is lower or equal to enemies (Promoted counts as +20), +2 Damage, -4 Damage Recieved

The path of the sword skills are too visually similar to each other, same as the last two country skills, the lion and the house i believe. Saul’s skill (the phanto mask) has really flat colors, so it looks underdeveloped compared to the rest of the icons.

Only one of those paths is being used.

The Lion and the Horse really do not look similar to me Besides, the full Etrurian Symbol is not going to fit into a 12x12 square. So Lion it is.

Saul’s icon isn’t that great, I agree, but this is a case of “Can someone think of one better? No. Then we’ll leave it as is until we do.”

It’s not really a matter of creative thinking so much as making your graphics consistent, as you have for most of your icons. If you added more shading to the mask, it’d be in line with your other skills.

Also, when you create graphics for video games and other visual media, you have to be careful about making things look too similar to each other as it could confuse players. You could change the pose of the horse so it’s not so similar to the lion.

It’s a colour thing, we don’t really have the colours to shade Chivalry? in its current form. But I’ll be sure to pass it along so BM can try different colour combinations.

I wont be changing either of Sacae or Etruria’s National skills, 1. Because these skills will only ever appear on units of that nation, there’s no chance of mistaking one for the other. 2. Because we are on a deadline, and just because someone could possibly mistake two creatures in different poses (The horse is running, the Lion is reared back) is no reason to go change it. I will look into seeing if the lion can be mirrored though, maybe that will help.

Oh you certainly do have enough colors to shade it, lol.

If they appear on the same map, there is a chance of confusing them. And that certainly is a reason to change it, because it could potentially confuse your players. Unless that’s your aim, it will detract from an experience. The idea of well made graphics is to give visual cues to players so they can glean information quickly and separate one thing from another. When things are too visually similar, that will detract from that.

They will never appear on the same map. The Sacae arc is long after the Etruria arc, and Etrurian soldiers do not appear after the Etruria arc. Bern/Ilia and Bern/Sacae do, but neither of those symbols resemble one another. As I said, I will consider reversing the lion so it is facing the opposite direction, even though I do not feel they look similar at all.

It’s not “Enough colours” the skill icons are on the same sheet as the weapon icons, that really only leaves brown as a shading colour right now. I will definitely bring it up to BM to see what he can do.

Bern
Patriotism When a non-dracoknight unit is within 5 squares of a Dracoknight, +1 Damage, +10% Hit.

When Bern’s forces fight near the symbol of their army, they fight better

Etrurian
Knighthood Whenever an Allied Paladin, General or Valkyrie are within 5 Squares, -2 Damage Recieved, +5% Evasion

Fighting along side those who represent the 3 generals

Brigand
Barbarism Whenever fighting a lowered level enemy, +1 Damage, -1 Doubling Threshold

Because they’re bullies who pick on the weak

Ilia
Mercenary When allied units are within 3 squares, -2 Doubling Threshold, +10% Hit

When banding together under hardship, they fight better

Sacae
Nomadism When engaging an enemy that cannot counter attack, +10% Hit -1 Doubling Threshold

Because they’re majority mounted archers who perform hit and run tactics, like the mongols they’re based on.

Lycia
Heroism Whenever fighting higher level enemies, +1 Damage, -1 Damage Received

Opposite of the Bandits, when confronted with a challenge they rise to the occasion.

EDIT: As for the crown, possible, but BM would reject the idea due to Zealot’s skill being a Crown already and the skills not having similarities.

Fair I guess, although switching the crown in jerrot’s and making it etruria then giving jerrot’s a different icon(idk someone being crowned, idk) could work. But that is more work.

Huh, we have a similar skill; mine affects hit/avo rates though.

Overall, they seem interesting; the doubling stuff seems like it could get dicey but idk it is also specific enemy units only so it’s probably fine.

It means they get the buff when enemy units of those class are in range of them, I was more explaining the justification behind each of them. They also don’t stack because that would be absurd

So an enemy Mercenary with Patriotism would gain +1 damage and +10% hit so long as within 5 squares of him, there was a Manakete or Dracoknight/master.

Upon examination, I don’t see Cath having room on the skill table. Is she not in the game?

Cath’s skill is Dirty Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap) It’s a Luck% skill that is the only %-based personal skill in the game. Because its payout is that when it triggers it spawns a Red Gem. Cath is your only source of grinding money outside of the arena circuits that don’t always pay out, or money distributed.

Considering that at one point Anna’s shops run a combined 12000 on one map, you may want to use her for the moolah.

EDIT: @GabrielKnight By the way BM has reversed the lion now and is working on the mask variants. Just to let you know.

Black Mage has also said thank you for your critique. Here is an update skill icon list including the Skill Badges. Skill Badges are items that are received through A-supports, it’s typically where the skills like Sol and Luna have gone to go be crappy and unhelpful all on their own. But there’s also stuff like Discipline and Parity. They have different designs so a player recognizes that the icon currently in their skill list is not in fact a normal skill.

Ah, so will you be able to trade the badges around for skill customization? I think having the personal skills and the normal skills look so distinct from each other is an excellent idea. The badges look very nice.

Yes that’s exactly the idea. It also means the player is introduced to the tactical option of whether or not they wish to bring more weapons, or to keep a skill upon them. Due to weapons having different benefits/flaws from the Fates Weapon System, It’s interesting to see the player juggle skills, items and weapons around.

So a few minor updates, not necessarily for in-game stuff as out of game stuff.

  • There is a presentation on September 5th which I’m attempting to produce a trailer for, I cannot guarantee one will be made, but if I do, it will be uploaded afterwards.
  • The final Report/Game Demo to be submitted is on October 28th, that puts it 81 days away from this post. I can’t guarantee the game will be finished, but I can pretty sure the demo will be done. For the record my focus has changed to getting the new chapters (17-23) all finished, because it’s all new content.

Keep in mind, while I say the game will be “Released” on October 28th, that’s only the gameplay. The text and extra stuff like supports are probably not going to be in the release.

Now that being said, I’m going to essentially be putting out a help wanted ad.


We’re very close to approaching the release date for Maiden of Darkness, but the main thing worrying me right now, is the lack of graphics. Main Story is an umbrella I can’t really trust others with, same as eventing, I have very clear goals I want to achieve and it’s not something I can ask for help with. Graphics though, it’s the one thing I can’t do myself.

Let us be clear, I cannot pay anyone for aid. I do not make enough money to pay rent each month let alone drop it on something that will in turn produce no money. If you are offering your help, you’re doing it because you want to. Secondly, I am harsh, I will assuredly reject something, or take it and ask someone else to mess with it, or generally just be very critical. It’s not at all the attitude someone not being paid should really have to put up with, and I wouldn’t imply that you should be so submissive as to just accept it because I need the help. I shouldn’t be saying this because it undoubtedly will scare off potential helpers, but I would rather be honest with you up front.

That all said, if you can offer a hand, I would be grateful, if not, I have always found ways to get by. I will continue to do so.
