The Hag in White [COMPLETE]

Just beat Army of Darkness chapter. So far, enjoying myself a bunch. A couple of questions and thoughts:

  • Kyra is a great protagonist, and has really solid unit feel.
  • Getting a lot of units in the same classes does open a wide range to pick my favorites, which is actually kind of fun. This is the only hack or FE mainline game where Armored units were strategically so useful that I’ve wanted to run multiples.
  • The class changes are cool. The wider availability of magic all around gives this hack a very unique gameplay feel.
  • The plot feels very classic FE. Very much captures the feeling.
  • Only having 1 healer is a very unique twist on the mechanics. In most chapters, it works really well. It does kind of encourage using a “deathball” strategy of keeping all my units in a tight knit block. I think, from a design perspective, giving Apate Physics earlier and adding more objectives could have led to positioning flexibility that would help “unshrink” the limits of the map design.
  • Using a completely different set of map palettes gives a strong sense of “place” to your world that I haven’t seen in other hacks. It’s a cool detail that I really apreciate.

A spoiler question, and then a spoiler criticism:

Summary

<To recruit polonius, i shouldn’t have killed any of the undead, correct? I’m regretting not catching onto that in time. I’m gonna replay the map.>

And

Summary

I will say that Pheme dying is leaving a pretty bad taste in my mouth. She’s a character I liked and a unit I invested considerable effort into training + given valuable resources to. I’m more mad at the design than I am sad at the narrative. Doubly so because this is happening to a young female character, which feels kind of cheap and stereotypical.

It’s the only thing in this hack that I flat out dislike.

Ultimately, thanks for all the hard work. I’m looking forward to continuing.

You have the chance to save Pheme on a new game + after beating the game once, among other things

can you please make apate say “chikawaga” thanks

No I think I’d rather make her say “pingas” which is still a relevant meme because I said so.

personally i think she would say pogchamp

“Fine, I guess you are my little pogchamp, come here.”

Beats you on the shin with a staff

“Now go kill people for me.”

Thank you for letting me know!

There are so many responses so forgive me if this was repeated but can you get all characters in one run or are there exclusive ones too?

There are a couple of choices where you have to pick between one or another, so keep that in mind

Rubenio you sick bastard

I just realized the joke between David and Goliath you made in chapters 9 and 10, even the fucking rock as well XD (no screenshots because i was lazy to replay those chapters again)

I’m just confused on WhatsApp tha Shamshir is supposed to be. It says that it is for “students” and is Sword rank D, but for some reason only Kairos is able to use it despite Agari, Lopez and Phobos all having the required Sword ranks?

[spoiler]Yeah, don’t kill them[/tspoiler]

Just finished this hack.

Review

This was quite interesting. I enjoyed the music and the characters from what I got to see them. Unfortunately, the chapter didn’t inform me that the boss would surrender after a single fight, without being killed, so I didn’t get the chance to screenshot my team before the hack’s ending. Only now I realize that the Normal Rock was supposed to prevent you from oneshotting him for exactly that lol.

I used Phobos the most of the characters, he handled most of the brigands well and only the one Swordreaver axe I wasn’t expecting gave a little bit of a scare. Really sad I didn’t get to use more of Soter, mage armor is a fun concept but he simply starts too far from the action.

The level 14 bishop with only Heal is a little strange (and is that an infinite Heal?). I decided to try winning the chapter without using her even once.

The ending is cool, alludes that there’s a mystery to this encounter that we didn’t get to see. Will there be a full hack set in this universe? The characters are charming enough to lead a plot in my opinion.

Its a cool concept. Thats for sure

It’s basically the same as in the original Sacred Stones: it’s exclusively for classes like Myrmidon (here Magic Blade) and related classes to that.

Only Magic Blades and Swordmaster/Assassin gets to use it, meaning Lopez can use it if he promotes to Assassin. Characters starting as Magic Blades also have the related lock on their character abilities, meaning Kairos can promote to Spellsword and still retain access to it, but the prepromote spellsword you get in the game won’t be able to use it.

Additionally, Pluto also has the myrmidon lock on his character slot, so if you promote him into Mamluk he will also be able to use it
