SO
I’ve had a lot going on as well as severe writer’s block, which has like just worn off as of last night. As a result, I’d rather just push back the date to mid November instead of rushing to push everything out tomorrow.
I don’t think I have a screenshot–
ok
Hi, it’s mid-november.
So, go get the new release from the first post!
Jewels of Power is another fantastic project from Skitty- competently written, a challenge without being too difficult, compelling character design, and solid interesting maps. I’ve played through this one several times and every time I have a blast- and I still feel like there’s characters I’ve not used and things I’ve not tried yet. Idk why this project isn’t getting attention but that should be rectified promptly. Try it today. The discord’s very active if you have any questions, comments, or concerns!
Here’s my team up through 12x-
Summary
Bunny is INSANE. She’s usually insane but this particular one is INSANE. I need her to grab another crystal lance, which turns her from cracked to CRACKED. Just cracked- and that custom lance she gets giving her staff utility is so so good.
Crioxe slowly falling behind but he tends to be pretty reliable- even after falling a little short he can come back. Plus personal skill utility for more buying power is useful enough to maintain trained for now. A speedy and skilled fighter is always a kind of unique idea and Crioxe’s usually a good exploration of the idea.
I use Dorin, the ch1 trainee, basically every time I play because I love trainees, but this one is the strongest I’ve ever seen. And he’s not even trading much speed for it! So nice to have a Dorin who deals damage.
This is a pretty solid Escanor, aside from the paper thin defenses, which ultimately if you use him as a striker first and foremost isn’t a huge deal. Fast and strong enough to plow through most enemies.
Kind of fucked up to put Zeek here since I just got him in ch12 and he’s gotten like 2 levels, but he’s a good thief, and the other thief is p dogshit these days.
Healer/10. She’s doing alright, but its always hard to see how strong they are without the context of offensive abilities.
Another Healer/10. Exact same thing I’d say for Freyja but he’s doing a bit worse- slower means easier to hit, easier to hit means easier to kill.
The third cav, Gwladys is easy to overlook but she’s really impressive if you give her a chance I’ve found. Just don’t overestimate her defenses- like I do about every single chapter.
The third lord, Merlina’s staff utility and solid magic offense mean that even starting at a lower level she contributes immediately and impressively. Give her a few levels and she starts competing for top spots on the team usually. Great lord.
Odr’s slowing down but he was kind of holding the team together for a little bit there- consistent, decent damage and not someone who melts under the eyes of the enemies means that he was a good all purpose unit, including holding frontlines when other options were undesirable.
Ogier is… not doing great these days. He starts already likely behind in level your other fliers (the trainee Camille or Bunny) and his base stats are fine but nothing special. Follow that with some unimpressive levels and he’ll quickly start flagging, propelling primarily by flier utility. He’s probably next for the bench when I find a suitable replacement.
The first lord, Pellinore is a bow lord, which I know triggers the community’s interest, but maintains frontline competence with knife proficiency and just when he might be slowing down, he gains a Prf Magic Bow thats effective against Mages. And of course, if yours doesn’t slow down, that quickly tips him over the edge to brilliant. This one’s a bit stronger and a bit slower than I usually see, but the difference is miniscule.
Probably the hardest character to recruit, and not always worth it, being a swordlocked infantry unit amongst an army full of two others, but he starts at a pretty high base, and his growths keep him competitive, so if you’re interested (or if Dorin or Mark start to fall behind (there’s no Mark on this list, so guess what happened to him)) he’s a good choice.
My first time using Roestoc but she has not disappointed. Speedy lance users are always a blast, and her unique niche of preferring two range makes her interesting to use, and high skill helps hitting with javelins too.
Don’t be fulled by his slightly orange stats, Seth is great. 16 DEF is more than enough to withstand most physical assaults without worry, 1 extra move at full HP keeps him right alongside the team, and MOV to DAM means he does exactly what I usually need Knights to do- lay out serious damage.
Sigurd is a very fun archer to use, not that fun or archer usually go together, but his utility against fairly common flying units keep him relevant even if he’s growing poorly, and his personal skill giving him extra crit if he’s standing next to an ally mean that he commonly surprises and does more than you expect, even without fantastic stats.
The third trainee, Viviane is worth using at least through 12/12x, since a promotion to t1 is so easy to achieve, but usually for me I see her be leaps and bounds above Quinn, the other anima mage (although admittedly, the Jagen Eliza entering into the race could tip the scales). A solid mage.
The second lord, Ywain is a Hector with lances. An all rounder who can hold the front line alongside knights due to his personal skill buffing DEF/RES when his HP falls, and deals solid damage and is pretty likely to double. I’ve never been disappointed by Ywain except in comparison to when he’s done exceptional.
I should try this
yes you should
I don’t know what I was talking about, I must have forgotten I had a day job.
I’ll have an update come February, nothing I’ve done recently is worth a screenshot (all back-end stuff), as well as a predicted next release date.
I tried some of your other games too and you got better with each game I would say. Not that any of them were actually bad imo.
First since I feel like i heard it before in other games but what is the map music in the first chapter?
I sure look forward of how this game turns out when it’s all done
That’s music made by Chair, he worked on it originally for Fractured Realms, and I repurposed it here. There’s a few in here he did for that project.
I would honestly agree with this personally, especially since a majority of stuff I’ve worked on didn’t have any clear vision (they were test projects that turned into actual ones).
Yeah i played FR that’s why I know the track.
Good idea to reuse tracks that was made for an earlier prooject.
Does the download link for Version 1.25 work? I am trying to download but the mediafile but it gives an error message to retry later.
Weird, I’ve never seen that screen before; maybe Media Fire is down? I’m unable to access it even when logged in.
I can upload a mirror, give me a bit.
Okay, the mirror is now there @Brolytkd, sorry about that!
Thanks!!! the download works. Also will my old save work? I saw a previous post where knights can use axes but I don’t think that’s the case for my save : (
Once you hit the world map, they should automatically update and give you an Axe rank.
Although, if your save is earlier than chapter 6, I would recommend starting at least from there, as 2 new characters were added. One in chapter 6 and one in chapter 9.
Not that you really need this feedback I’m sure, but just wanted to say keep up the great work! Loving this (and really enjoyed the Fractured Realms demo as well way back when) and cant wait for the next update here.
Truly fun and a kind of unique experience relative to lots of fangame projects
Thanks! I hope I can continue to deliver a good gameplay experience.
