[Indie] [Steam] Ashes of Resolve - 2.5D in Unreal Engine

Hello everyone! I’m Jared, the director behind Ashes of Resolve.
I’ve been working on this project for about 3 years. The game is heavily inspired by Fire Emblem, and I wanted to share it with the FEU community.

What is Ashes of Resolve?

A 2.5D turn-based strategy RPG that takes the snappy GBA-style sprite animations and rebuilds them into a modern 3D world using Unreal Engine. The game includes 20+ handcrafted chapters and 20+ playable characters.

Core Features:

Weather & Day/Night System:

Every turn represents an hour. As turns pass, the weather and time will change and effect the tactics needed. Certain units will transform, time locked abilities can be used, and you can change the time directly yourself.

Capture System:

Capture enemies and wanted criminals rather than killing them. Captured units can be recruited or sold for ransom.

Mercenary Hiring:

Between chapters, explore the hub world and hire mercenaries to supplement your army. Inspired directly by Berwick Saga’s mercenary system.

Adapative Enemy AI:

Using expectimax search algorithms, the AI simulates possible moves before acting. This allows sophisticated thinking from the enemies. On lower difficulties the AI will be less smart than on higher difficulties where they will engage in coordinated strategies.

Assist Attacks:

Allies standing next to each other are able to do assist attacks. Inspired by pair up mechanic in 3DS Fire Emblem.

The game features seven voice actors from Fire Emblem:

Will there be supports like system?

Good question! Yes, there will be a support system. This will work where units deployed on the same map gain support points that eventually leads to a conversation. As support increases the primary effect is boosting assist attack damage.
