@Dangania14 now that you’ve got my wheels turning, I need your opinion, as well as anyone else on a second+ run who’d like to chime in. (I don’t know how to do a Vote as a reply, sorry )
Should i change Crumble Undead to D-rank?
As it stands, in a given run, Gemma will likely not be able to use it until toward the end of Chapter 6, and that’s with heavy, intentional investment to grind her there.
Either that, or I can leave Crumble Undead at C-rank but change Fire Strike to give 2 weapon exp. Being a D-rank spell, it currently only gives 1.
With the former option, it gives that fun advantage right away, while the latter is more in the realm of providing players with a sense of pride and accomplishment as it’s more of a reward they have to earn by surviving half the chapter without it yet.
Thoughts?
EDIT: just tested another run and it’s just way smoother having it at D-rank straight up. I’ve updated the patch file to reflect this in what now should be the final update . Idk what I was thinking before. (Totodile hurts itself in its confusion) To the brave champions who powered through without it at your disposal, I salute you o7
I think either would’ve been a good change, but I’m glad you chose to do the former lol. It felt a bit awkward having to reach rank C to use Undead Crumble, specially since monsters don’t always show up.
(Also to clarify, I haven’t actually finished the game yet. I lost my previous save, and am having to restart thus. I did reach that one map where you storm the king’s castle after we beat his son up and the Slayers sell us out.)
Edit: question, are enemies supposed to drop their items at their current use values, instead of dropping them at max uses? I’ve got a 23 use iron spear and a 2 use Sara.Brew so far.
Ah, I see. Well I’m glad I didn’t spoil anything then. Sorry to hear about your lost save, but I’m glad you’re back at it Your spoiler text gave me a chuckle.
Yes, to your edit question. Items will drop with their current uses.
Just finished my playthrough, excellent hack! I can see the effort put into recreating Gielinor with the maps and music and it is awesome. I especially liked the recreation of The Falador Massacre for the gameplay-story integration of having Mod Ash ban that exploiting bastard, soooo satisfying.
I do have one main critique, being the Elvarg fight: After receiving the Anti-Dragon shield, I think Gemma points out that it’ll take more than just a bunch of guys hiding behind it and charging the dragon to beat Elvarg, but since Melzar went mad and didn’t provide us with any other advice we end up at the Elvarg fight with exactly that plan. Said plan doesn’t even work since Elvarg can simply choose not to target whoever has the shield and nobody in the army has the stats to solo a dragon. I ended up beating Elvarg with hit and run tactics using Alexis carrying a poisoned Rune Hasta, but having the final boss type dragon succumb to poison and not even get a chance to fight back felt pretty anticlimactic. What was your “intended” way for us to kill Elvarg?
That is some good food for thought tbh . I’ve heard a couple suggestions on Elvarg, and I have a proposed change below, but before I do I’ll have to explain the mechanics of the fight: the attack “Dragonfire” is an Effective attack against every player unit type and has 100 crit. When Gemma and Damian give their little rally speech at the beginning, the anti-dragon shield is replaced with a suped up version which protects against effective attacks and negates crits. It’s basically like wearing the toktz-ket-xil and phoenix necklace at the same time. Dragonfire is a 3-10 range attack, while her other attack, Slash, is 1-2 range. Slash does not have the properties of Dragonfire btw. The idea was that one can tank a hit of Dragonfire while approaching her, then on the next turn, get a free hit at 1-2 range, before she switches to Slash. At this same time, other units could be teleothered in with the goal of killing her before this turn is over. But, because this can lead to cheese and it feeling anticlimactic, I think it’s best I change it.
what if I make Dragonfire a 1-10 range attack, so that no matter what you have to tank it with the shield at least once? from there, it can be about getting other units up close and trading the shield and attacking.
Anyone else having crashing issues when using a Rune Emblem? I tried it with my Brynn (or w/e the healers name is) multiple times. In ch. 10 and on the prep screen. Both times it just crashes.
I’m onboard with the idea of making Dragonfire an 1-10 range attack, I think if the goal is to approach Elvarg while tanking Dragonfire, the Anti-Dragon shield should grant the Provoke skill to its wielder, so that they may cover the rest of the army while they approach.
hey @regal68 I just tested it on Ch 10 with Brynn both in Preps and in the chapter, and had no issue promoting to either class. What emulator are you using? Have you downloaded the latest patch or are you on an early build? (I just updated it again with the Elvarg change noted below, btw)
@Rayn awesome, thanks for your input. I’ve changed Dragonfire to 1-10 range, but kept Nullify on the shield since I still need it to block effective damage. I do like the idea of Provoke, though I don’t necessarily want her only targeting the current shieldbearer. Elvarg wouldn’t discriminate who she attempts to cook, right? Hopefully the updated range will make for a better fight there.
I was on a Sep 10 build but I just applied the most recent in this thread. I’m using retroarch, and I also tried it on the myrmidon in ch 11 prep and it still crashes.
Edit: tried the only other rune emblem I have with the fighter in ch 11 prep and it still crashes
Retroarch isn’t an emulator itself. It’s basically just a user interface for a bunch of emulators. What GBA core are you using? There are a few different ones, and switching to a different one could solve the problem. i.e if you’re not using mGBA, try it. If you are using mGBA try a different one.
As for the characters, no one is hidden per se. As long as you check the Talk on the status screen you should have all the info you need based on who pops up in the level.
Outside of the desert treasure, items will otherwise be visible on enemies in the status screen or in villages/houses/shops.
Is there a particular chapter you had a question on? Lmk
This is awesome ! I never get sick of GBA FE but this feels so fresh, the music, the weapons, magic, lvls, everything is awesome and nostalgic. Story is even funny ive already laughed a few times. Thank you for making this
