Fire Emblem VS

Hello, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted on here, but I recently just got the urge to create something new. Hope you all give it a try with a friend!

This hack is a PVP hack taking aspects from Advance Wars, the objective is to capture the enemy castle. You earn gold every turn, and can capture villages to earn more gold. You can use gold to deploy units, or buy stronger weapons from the shops on the map.

Please keep in mind that this is a very early build, I’ve tried my best to bugfix as best as I can, but honestly it’s a miracle this romhack exists at all and obviously one person cannot catch everything. so if you have any feedback on balance or bugs, please let me know!

Of course, since this is designed as a PVP hack, it is recommended that you play with another person. You can play by yourself, but playing against another person is obviously preferable.

Beta 1.1 changes:

  • added a start screen, where you select commanders, game mode, and map.

  • added commanders, important characters from across the fire emblem series that are selected at the start of a game.

  • Made “never mind” in a unit selection menu go back to the previous menu.

  • fixed promoted units being notably stronger when deployed by player 2 compared to player 1

  • Added 2 new deployable units, Pegasus Riders and Sages.

Beta 1.1.1 changes

  • Allowed the island villages to be captured
  • Fixed a bug where The Black Knight Class’s terrain cost pointers was assigned incorrectly, resulting in being unable to move.
  • Fixed Idunn’s melee attack softlocking the game
  • Gave weapons with placeholder item icons proper icons.
  • Updated descriptions of commanders to be far more accurate.
  • Fixed Alondite ranged animation causing issues.
  • Gave Ike Ragnell, although he has to reach S rank Swords to use it, so you can really do the Ike VS Black Knight duel.

there is planned to eventually be commanders that you can deploy, but as of now there is no lord unit for either side.

It would be cool if you started with one, and had to protect them. Could add more strategy to the game.

when I’m able to fit more maps into the rom, a seize/escort map is definitely something I could do. I will keep that in mind.

Could there be different lord/commander units that do different things? Ok, that might be a bit much, but it would be cool, that’s my ideaguy coming out.

currently working on implementing basic commander mechanics rn, each commander will have a personal skill and buff allies within 3 tiles with +15 hit/avoid. Eventually I want each commander to have a special unit that they can deploy, for instance lyn would be able to deploy nomads. but it would require a ton more work and I currently want to get the basics implemented.

Just wanted to say that the ability to go back in the Unit creation screen would be nice instead of being locked into the category you initially choose, also perhaps even leaving everything in the same menu wouldn’t be that jarring as it’s done similarly in Advance Wars itself. Clicking on something you cannot purchase or the next or previous buttons will also close the Unit menu, some sort of element on the screen that indicates how much gold you currently have would also be a good addition as well as it telling you you can’t afford it and putting your back into the menu instead of closing. Wanted to say that it was fun playing this with my friend and I thank you for making it.

shouldn’t be that hard to be able to go back to the main menu, unfortunately due to the way the menus work I can only have a max of 8 options in 1 menu, so I have to split the unit selection up into multiple menus

commanders will be prominent fe characters from across the series, so they will have portraits.

Alright, beta 1.1 is out, highly recommend updating if you plan on playing this hack because other then all the new stuff, there was a glaring balance issue where promoted units deployed by player 2 are much stronger then the ones deployed by player 1, this update fixes that, along with adding new features and QoL.

thanks for reporting these issues! I’ll try to fix as many as them as I can, Corrin and Chrom do not have animations simply becuase the fe repo dosen’t have any animations for chrom or corrin, so I won’t be fixing that unfortunately, I’ll look into the other issues though!
