Regarding Historical Accuracy
This is a story set in 1920s Turkey/Greece, during the Turkish Wars of Independence. The core plot
of the game is based on a true tale, the locations are real places, the events occur within historically accurate timeframes. However, any and all remaining aspects (including, but not limited to, the characters, their names, their apperances and personalities, their classes, certain other plotpoints and routes) are purely fiction and are not meant to represent history. Obviously, there weren’t mages and flying horses and flying dragons in the war, were there? :]
Keep in mind that some aspects of the main story may not be completely accurate. It’s based on a story that spread via word of mouth among the people who lived through these times; there’s little to no written work about it. I first heard about it when I travelled to the west of Turkey some time ago; I talked with many villagers from the area and pieced together my own version of the tale. There still are some fictional elements in the story as well, such as many of the characters. There isn’t much information available about the common folk who fought the battles, so I had no other choice.
About Skills
Skills:
Every character has one personal skill acquired at level 1. Certain promoted classes have one unique class skill. Enemies, with a few exceptions, don’t have skills. Proc skills are absent. Bosses have two skills at most.
(In addition to these guidelines, mounted classes have Canto and thieves have Steal. This is true for enemies, as well.)
Personal skills are generally simpler/weaker ones. The big ones are part of the Class Skill arsenal.
About me & some background
I’ve been hacking since 2016/17. Up until now, my hacking endeavours were limited
to joke projects, PMEs, things like that. One day last year I decided I would start work on
a real, fully-featured FE8 ROMHack, and I eventually did. I never thought it’d reach a playable state back then, but alas, here we are! My design philosophy is always gameplay first, but this is not an excuse for a potentially weak story; I am working on constructing a solid plot and some decent characters as well. I like unit customization in games, and FE is no exception; however, I’ve always felt that in Fire Emblem games, balanced gameplay usually gets sacrificed for the sake of more customization options. This is something I wanted to avoid in my hack.
I had never actually planned to make original music for this project. After experimenting a bit with
FE8’s instruments, however, I realized how fun it really is; I probably enjoy making FE8-Style music more than regular music by now. I make music as a hobby and I do it casually; if I force myself to do it, the result is never as good as the music I make when I just feel like doing it. This means that maybe, one day, the game can have a fully original soundtrack. No promises, though. :))
Known Bugs and Issues
Some movement on the world map may look glitched.
Easy mode currently not available due to a couple of problems.
Skipping text on world map scenes may result in a black screen (with audio still playing). Opening up the menu fixes this.
The Speedwing’s description is wrong, and Sabiha/Efe’s A Support ends abruptly. These will be fixed in the next update.
Content Rating
If I had to give this hack an age rating…
T for Teen: Fantasy Violence, Suggestive Themes, Language.
The “Violence” is basically the same as in regular FE8. There are some references and innuendo, but nothing more than what most other T-rated games have. “Shit” is said twice or so. There are general mature themes, but nothing too extreme. This rating may be adjusted depending on feedback.
Needed Help
I’m currently working on giving all characters in the game some actual
blinking frames. I’m slowly getting them done, but I definitely could use some help
with these. Aside from that, the easiest way to help would probably be playing the
hack and giving feedback. Thanks!
