FIRE EMBLEM - Code of the Black Knights: Decisive Edition (30 chapters)

If that doesn’t work, try getting him to lvl 10 AND killing Umbra(I finally remembered his name :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:)

Lv5 is the cap (Tier 3), so I’d have to feed him an absurd number of kills (probably more than what is physically possible in Ch29B) to raise the cap up to 10.

The good news is that I finally found the flag in FEBuilder that keeps him alive (the check is at the start of Endgame B, not at the end of 29B). It seems there are two ways to keep Kayleth alive:

  1. When talking to him in the Interlude after Ch27B, choose the second option (about the Soul Gem), not the first (Noir’s condition).
  2. In Ch1, visit Kayleth’s village with either Schwarze or Noir. Maybe this is why Cecil has a larger starting inventory, encouraging players to reset when Kayleth gives two items that Cecil can’t carry.

It’s possible that there are other ways that I missed, especially since the flag is apparently checked sometime in route A as well. Regardless, I loaded back to the interlude, reminded Kayleth of the Soul Gem, went through 28B and 29B again, and indeed got the cutscene where he survives. He mentions that somebody reminded him of the Soul Gem recently, giving him the idea to use it to seal Layton’s powers.

Anyway, from FEBuillder, it doesn’t seem to matter at all whether you fight Umbra, let alone defeat him, nor is Kayleth’s level relevant. I’m really glad I was able to save him with only redoing two chapters (as opposed to starting again from Ch1!). I find it near-impossible to achieve the 23-turn clear on Last Stand without Annabelle, so Kayleth’s survival was really important for me.

Damn, sorry for the misinformation :smiling_face_with_tear:. I genuinely believed that killing Umbra had something to do with it. Anyways, good job man :raised_fist:

Hello, this hack is one of my favorites. I hope that one day a group of translators will rebuild it and want to translate it into Spanish. I hope one day that rebuild will be done

Hi, this hack is still being worked on by you guys, right? I, despite all this game’s flaws, actually love it and want to make it better, so I’d like to provide help if you need it. Is there any way to do so?

(other than money cause i’m broke lol)

Not very actively lol. at all. lol

fine, I’ll do it myself

Nah, I don’t think I can or should. I guess I’ll just wait. Besides, I don’t have permission to do so.

Oh, and is there a way to contact Mycahel?

Mycahel is on FEUcord, so you can find him and DM him. He doesn’t use the same username and I don’t feel comfortable just facilitating solicitation so I’m not giving it to you :stuck_out_tongue: I’ll tell him someone else is interested in working on it and maybe ask Gold to add you to the server (which hasn’t seen activity in like a year or two)

I do still occasionally open up usenti and place a few pixels or sketch designs up but I’ve stalled on my project for the same reason I haven’t been working on cotbkgo. gold probably similar.

if you could do grunt work exporting the tables and eventing files from Builder for the buildfile port that would cut down on work later lol

Hello, and I’m sorry for not replying fast enough. I didn’t have access to my PC for a while.

Is there a buildfile already, or do I have to make my own? I already have some (very little, and I mean little) progress.

I think the text formatting needs polishing, and I want to restructure the class list for easier navigation as well.

Getting a corrupted file error when trying to extract the download.

I have some questions on the skill system. Besides promotion, you gain them from levelling up a character right? So let’s say a character is gonna learn a skill at level 15, but I promote them before they hit that level, does that mean they’ll never learn that skill?

And besides levelling up and promotions, are there any other ways to learn skills?

They won’t learn that skill. You will miss that skill entirely.

Probably not, unless the game got updated. Some skills are attached to weapons iirc but skill scrolls aren’t present in this game.

I see thank you!

Does this rom hack not have a database for skills that each character learns and at what level?

I’m having a hard time downloading the file. Anyone able to help me with this? Please send me a message.

Could someone explain to me what the “the lost chapter” on the C route in the flowchart is about?and what does “if you spotted layton?” mean?I’m afraid I might miss some important points.Thank you for your help!

I can see a lot of Jugdral inspiration behind the characters, map design, and plot. Enjoying playing this hack

Ok so…I guess for some reason, on this second playthrough, my game just became stupid or something. I reached Chapter 29 and I have had around 7 or 8 instances across the game during which the game crashes or closes down on specific ocassions. The latest one just absolutely destroyed my progression and I suppose will never be able to end this Lost Chapter now, because right when Layton stops talking after the entire explanation ends…the game just fully, and I mean FULLY crashes, emulator and all every single time no matter what I do. I guess I will never know the entire story now. I fully do not remember this chapter because I played this hack around nearly 2 years ago I think, and I really do not remember this being a thing, so I was shocked to find something new to me and hidden…and the game just said “NOPE, you will NOT know the whole story” (doesnt help the fact that I was absolutely hating what I was discovering on this extra secret chapter overall). Thanks. Anyone who can help? I dont even know what help can I get with this whole clown show with my mGBA emulator suddenly not wanting me to finish this hack, but whatever help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It’s almost certainly a your computer problem if the emulator just straight up exits out, idk what to say. Try wiping your registry of mgba stuff and delete temporary files in User/Local

This does not happen with any other romhack though, so why would it be my PC? Mind you, thanks for the reply because I myself am not a tech savvy person, I would say that I am just below the surface when it comes to properly using a PC to its best of its abilities, not gonna lie on that. But with that, do you mean I have to delete the emulator and all of the files saved? Or just some not so useful files? What about trying to run my save on another GBA emulator? Even if I dunno how to do that, perhaps that would work it out? I just dont wanna have to restart the entire game again just to see this different route’s ending.
