Why would you trust him? He’s done nothing to show you he’s genuine, nor does he offer any proof of what he says. Furthermore, this would be the ideal ploy to lure these rebels into a trap! Anakin just accepts it without question, which I suppose wouldn’t be entirely out-of-character but is still absolutely terrible. Also remember that this conversation is happening more-or-less in front of enemy soldiers. Like, how hard is it to at least pretend that he met us outside, and then we attacked a few hours later?

This makes three consecutive characters that have shown up, claimed to support the rebellion, and accepted as allies, no questions asked. I mean, we hear that Magnus hired bandits to raze Mark’s village, but anyone can make that story up!

So this map is actually reasonably designed, other than Shon and Kelik (and Arch) being completely separated from the rest of the map. I made a bunch of random execution mistakes when trying to rescue chain through making this map longer than I wanted it to be, but alas.

Brilliant start, it seems.

These are the only reasonable-good levels I get this chapter. Pretty much every single other level is like single +skl levels.

Once you get closer to the throne room, Lyam turns into an NPC and being slaughtering units with him. Remember that his soldiers saw him talking to us, and yet nothing is done or said about this.

ah yes, the “one square off” disease strikes again. This is maybe the third or fourth time this run I’ve lost a turn due to miscounting squares.

This conversation is really dumb. There is almost no advantage to Kelik working with the rebellion. He isn’t being paid, as far as I know he has no grudge against Magnus and he has no particular ties to Siegfried Arch and Anakin keeping the group here. Yeah, there’s Althares being a bro, but that only lasts so long. Realistically, if he sells out to the highest bidder, he could slaughter the rebel army from within for Magnus, which would almost guarantee his safety.

Never say never, Arch!

How, exactly, do you plan to do this? You definitely do not have deeper pockets than Magnus.

This is my biggest issue with TLP. Oftentimes incredibly stupid, shortsighted and unworkable plans are presented as “brilliant”, and there isn’t even a mention of handwaving the risks for some reason or other. You could argue that other FE does this as well, but in TLP it’s almost the standard that a) everyone is trustworthy except when they aren’t, b) plans are trusted by the “brilliant” newcomers for some reason or other and c) anybody who raises an objection is either untrustworthy or old and thus overruled.[/details]

Though actually I like this one. It greatly reduces the RNG involved, and it forces you to weigh your options. “If this guy hits, it probably does triple dmg, so I should send a really defensive unit just in case”. It’s bad but in a good way! I like and appreciate THIS design decision.

It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t great. You had to cover every inch of the map if you wanted something and the whole thing was a big spiral, which meant a lot of walking and not a lot of fighting.

The story stuff was basically all at the end of the map but I couldn’t force myself to be at least a little bit interested in whatever the fuck was going on. So yeah.

It could’ve been worse I guess. At least Innana can promote now.[/details]

This was the enemy sniper with the orion’s bolt.

Note they have the same description. If the rebels die, the game ends. That means killing the enemy sniper ends the game… I had a distraction squad surround him for the whole map.

Liquid, aka the most broken prepromote ever, was recruited last chapter. Here, he gets to show off what he’s got.

This map is a long and windy castle map of the sort I really hate to optimize
(and I haven’t played this map before so I’m not sure what to expect). BUT,
thanks to our long ranged pointy stick things that can shoot through walls, we
can pick off a lot of these units before our army has to actually deal with
them.
