Speaking of hacks on cartridges I need to send Darrman Corrupt theocracy
“Fenix” as a name makes me cringe.
There we go ch14 finally up
c17 will be up whenever i get un-rate limited on imgur.
“Prove that you’re trustworthy!”
“Of course I’m trustworthy, sir!”
I am half convinced that Blazer saved the lines that actually make sense for Kelik on purpose.
…or not. Right.
TOTALLY NOT FORESHADOWING
Wouldn’t that mean you have the power to surrender?
Why would you trust him? He’s done nothing to show you he’s genuine, nor does he offer any proof of what he says. Furthermore, this would be the ideal ploy to lure these rebels into a trap! Anakin just accepts it without question, which I suppose wouldn’t be entirely out-of-character but is still absolutely terrible. Also remember that this conversation is happening more-or-less in front of enemy soldiers. Like, how hard is it to at least pretend that he met us outside, and then we attacked a few hours later?
…that would be because they don’t.
This makes three consecutive characters that have shown up, claimed to support the rebellion, and accepted as allies, no questions asked. I mean, we hear that Magnus hired bandits to raze Mark’s village, but anyone can make that story up!
Yes. You absolutely can.
So this map is actually reasonably designed, other than Shon and Kelik (and Arch) being completely separated from the rest of the map. I made a bunch of random execution mistakes when trying to rescue chain through making this map longer than I wanted it to be, but alas.
Brilliant start, it seems.
These are the only reasonable-good levels I get this chapter. Pretty much every single other level is like single +skl levels.
Hey guys, I can have Kelik contribute to-
…or not. LET’S TRY THAT AGAIN
Walk over to the cell to have this conversation. It’s an okay one, although the complete lack of mentioning Anakin is a bit jarring to me.
Once you get closer to the throne room, Lyam turns into an NPC and being slaughtering units with him. Remember that his soldiers saw him talking to us, and yet nothing is done or said about this.
ah yes, the “one square off” disease strikes again. This is maybe the third or fourth time this run I’ve lost a turn due to miscounting squares.
*incoherent angry muttering*
…hi, random soldier? I think if you’re too slow at freeing Siegfried (no idea how), you can Game Over here, but I’m not sure.
Initiate pro chest key trading, I guess? I’m aware that Althares could have gotten that last chest, but after this many mistakes I wanted to feel like I could do something right this map.
I could spend one more turn talking to Lyam to recruit him, but muh turncount. I think he joins you anyway (thanks Blazer).
hello reunion scene
This conversation is really dumb. There is almost no advantage to Kelik working with the rebellion. He isn’t being paid, as far as I know he has no grudge against Magnus and he has no particular ties to Siegfried Arch and Anakin keeping the group here. Yeah, there’s Althares being a bro, but that only lasts so long. Realistically, if he sells out to the highest bidder, he could slaughter the rebel army from within for Magnus, which would almost guarantee his safety.
Never say never, Arch!
How, exactly, do you plan to do this? You definitely do not have deeper pockets than Magnus.
this is a horrible plan
speaking of “mercenaries that can and will rat you out for enough money and/or guarantees of safety”, pirates are definitely way up there.
This is my biggest issue with TLP. Oftentimes incredibly stupid, shortsighted and unworkable plans are presented as “brilliant”, and there isn’t even a mention of handwaving the risks for some reason or other. You could argue that other FE does this as well, but in TLP it’s almost the standard that a) everyone is trustworthy except when they aren’t, b) plans are trusted by the “brilliant” newcomers for some reason or other and c) anybody who raises an objection is either untrustworthy or old and thus overruled.[/details]
Sorry for the delay.
Dunno’, TLP and stuff, I guess.
Casual mention of lawbreaking, what if edgeman was a cop?
So, edgeman says he’s the ledgendary mercinsert man, and pirate dude is like:
Is that how it works?
a what now
No, that’s not what being a pirate means.
The chapter is 3 dudes plus Liuke, opening the level with edgeman visiting the village.
Crits are nice.
what up, dawg?
Not nearly as funny as Granndaddies.
Opening the door gives you a door key. Finally, someone realized that you don’t need to leave the key in the door.
Why’re you in this house?
Did they re use Seigfried’s eyes?
Are we making splices of splices now?
Nobody told me about this thing so I spent a long time looking up tangentially related things to try and figure it out
Turns out it ignores defense.
TEXT INFORMATION NEEDS TO SAY THERE IS A MYSTERY, OR ELUCIDATE THAT MYSTERY TO YOU.
GOGOGOGO RANDOM MERC
IN NONE OF MY TESTS DID THIS SAGE MOVE
Without the Axereaver, she’d take the same damage from both of them ;D
Though actually I like this one. It greatly reduces the RNG involved, and it forces you to weigh your options. “If this guy hits, it probably does triple dmg, so I should send a really defensive unit just in case”. It’s bad but in a good way! I like and appreciate THIS design decision.
This could be like dozens times better but nah -;-
??? ok shon
I like this convo. Because Kelik has humility.
Kelik is a bad character tho so i don’t care
and i am supercockyjerkface
the AI thinks that using the Silver Axe against hte axereaver is a better option than the steel sword
Wanlevels apparently hate Kevin.
dese hitrates they hur–
he… got it.
and a pretty decent level.
WHY CAN SHON NOT SEIZE
Take note of how Kelik just steals Anakin’s text box.
Did my good pal
Killing 3dge help with this game?
(yes that was actually their handle shut up)
that would be a no
as this is alexis
:C oh well
This throw away dialogue is so… good i guess? Really really weird because it’s not… relevant?
Not even important cutscene can abolish the bad text spacing. Sigh…
Anakin’s argument here makes quite a lot of sense to me.
But so does Siegfried’s, at least?
And then this nonsequiter line pains me
Anakin takes 1 step left, pauses next to sieg for a moment
then takes one step up, the Level up “get a stat” chime plays
the screen flashes white and–
APPARENTLY SIEGFRIED CAN HAND SOMEBODY NOBILITY :V
Note how there was no promo item used in the cutscene promotion
Anyway fuck it let’s pick our sacrifices.
Supports are important
well now we’re getting somewhere
It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t great. You had to cover every inch of the map if you wanted something and the whole thing was a big spiral, which meant a lot of walking and not a lot of fighting.
The story stuff was basically all at the end of the map but I couldn’t force myself to be at least a little bit interested in whatever the fuck was going on. So yeah.
It could’ve been worse I guess. At least Innana can promote now.[/details]
I could write a post except it’s been a month so just take this
This general was at one of the defend points.
This was the enemy sniper with the orion’s bolt.
Note they have the same description. If the rebels die, the game ends. That means killing the enemy sniper ends the game… I had a distraction squad surround him for the whole map.
The LP is deyd?
Post reserved lol
all the reserved posts
Circles had a bit too much to drink
Not Reserved Post (chapter 22)
“And attack their weak spot for massive damage!”
You’re assassins. Assassins generally kill people. What does King Louis keep you around for, serving hors d’oeuvres for afternoon tea?
Besides, I seem to recall them killing that poor soldier for no good reason in…chaper 19? The one with Lyam.
IT’S SHADOW THE EDGEHOG! Also, our last safe character.
It’s kinda funny, since the tower’s at least three stories up. I wonder if megaphones exist here.
Considering your stats, you should probably stick to words.
Speedy general becomes even speedier!
We got the inferior Silvans, but it should do its job well enough.
This chapter’s gimmick: every unit, as part of an elite assassin’s group, has Lethality. Including this guy. Do we have an iron rune? OF COURSE NOT! That’d make things too easy.
Liquid, aka the most broken prepromote ever, was recruited last chapter. Here, he gets to show off what he’s got.
Did I mention he has Lethality too, for some unknown reason? Because he does. It’s ridiculous.
When your peg knight has the same strength as speed, I suspect something is up.
Free money, unless someone drops it.
Operation Get The Fuck Away From Wo Dao Guy is a go.
The only other really threatening unit, aside from the boss, is quickly neutralized…
…with a crit and a more typical level.
Kevin’s too slow to double the myrms and mercs and whatnot that attack him, so he’s whittling them down one by one. The swordmaster is at the back of the queue.
Most of the stats you need. Good abomination.
Slightly less good abomination. Also starting to have trouble doubling anything, thanks in no small part to her shitty con (Lightning freaking weighs her down).
This is, like, Wan-tier level.
Aaaaand we’re back to regularly scheduled crap. At least he got speed.
No crit, no silencer. Phew.
Next turn, Kevin chips for Liquid to get the kill in true Liquid fashion.
Kelik can use this, I guess?
Althares gets his last level. He’ll be able to promote after this chapter, since the boss carries a droppable Fell Contract.
Anakin dances Zach for a…Wow. Ok then.
What did he dance him for? I want to nail this guy.
I know what you’re thinking. Shut up.
First shot missed, but the second crit-killed…
Netting an ok level and a tome for Cia.
This also makes the boss start moving. Normally, I would play ring around the rosie and avoid the boss while I kill off the remaining enemies (since the chapter ends when the boss dies), but I kinda want to get this over with.
Zach ensures no Physic hijinks occur by one-shotting this guy as well.
And here he comes, walkin’ down the street, singin’ doo-wah diddy…
Ok, I’ll stop.
Welcoming reception has been prepared.
No crit or level, but a promotion item I’ll actually use is nice. And thus ends the chapter.
Not really. That Wo Dao swordmaster was probably the toughest, and he went down quick.
Quick, sure. Strong? I’ll get back to you on that.
Shon has doubts, but actually, Shadow stayed behind. Because he’s mentally unhinged, you know. Or something.
“I just wanted to be an astronaut or a firefighter when I grew up…”.
How delightfully edgy.
No, no, I don’t blame you in the slightest.
Yeah. Look at Cia.
And that’s that!
Next update is mine, sorry for delays. I have finals and also my computer can no longer run VBA. Will probably be able to do so this weekend.
thats looking good ---------------------------
Two weeks later…
Yeah, this could take a while. Don’t worry; Cam’s computer will unexplode eventually! It will get done… around when py-as becomes a thing. Or something.
[details=IT’S ALIVE]OKAY IT’S BEEN A MONTH LET’S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD WE’RE GONNA DO CHAPTER
23 AND IT’LL BE GREAT AND
So, there was a ton of e d g y dialogue going on before this, something about
“HOW CAN YOU REST WHILE MAGNUS STILL LIVES” sort of nonsense, but after that
I honestly don’t have the effort to sit through it all.
So we won’t.
Thanks to Darrman for getting me past that opening cutscene!
(map image shamelessly stolen from Blastinus’ LP)
So, first things first. Althares is level 20, and we have a Fell Contract.
Thanks to Blaz.rar, I can’t get to the base to use it. Therefore…
That’s… actually kind of pathetic.
This map is a long and windy castle map of the sort I really hate to optimize
(and I haven’t played this map before so I’m not sure what to expect). BUT,
thanks to our long ranged pointy stick things that can shoot through walls, we
can pick off a lot of these units before our army has to actually deal with
At any rate, walk forward, no big deal.
i also think this is the only thing he does this map
a few levels
Calculated. She doesn’t need healing or anything, right? Gotta go fast and-
The game actually softlocked here (I don’t think mGBA can handle aircalibur),
so I’m not counting that as a death.
Right, let’s redo that turn.
Run forward with our actual units (including edge lord himself), when…
Wait a second.
e d g e
That’s 2 damage, if you can’t see. Dammit, Blazer…
I suppose that takes care of that.
(because screenshotting is hard, but this was a lethality)
That Halb critted me like three times already. Strategy is hard, man.
Thankfully, we let Cia out of Shon’s saddlebags for the first time this map,
with excellent results.
Not shown: Inanna’s stats vs boss stats.
Incidentally, this boss is almost edgier than Kelik. I wish I had some screens
of his dialogue; it’s all about his ambition and how foolish the army is for
coming to face him.
ONE RESET LATER AND
(psst it’s spelled “dastard”)
yep fuck this dialogue
it’s just arch musing to himself
I didn’t bother opening all the chests; Edgehog didn’t have a lockpick and I
didn’t have motivation to run Althares all the way back up to the top to see
what was there. Likewise, I could have opened the rest of the bottom chests,
but muh turncounts man (12 turns)
IT’S BACK! And stop whining discourse
