Because I don’t like to fully min-max and I like for my characters to have gameplay-story interactions. It wouldn’t make sense for a normal person to NEVER get faster as they get better at fighting, so he has a low, but still present, speed growth.
Fair enough i usually make my warry fighter an older person so them not getting faster makes sense aswell.
I just thought of something I’d like to add. I really like how Thracia has plentiful and powerful magic swords relative to the rest of the series, so I’d like to add more for here too. I’ll end this post off with a list of new potential placements for magic swords.
First, I’d like to make the might of the Light Brand 14 and increase its durability to 35. Increase the might of the Runesword to 13 and durability to 25. Finally, I’d also like to give the Wind Edge 12 might and have it give the user +2 speed.
Second, I’d like to add in the Levin Sword as a relatively weaker, but more plentiful magic sword.
D rank, 10 might, 70 hit, 7 weight, 40 uses.
Finally, here’s my list of placements. These are just suggestions, definitely only use like two of the Levin Sword ones but put them wherever you think sounds best. The reason there are so many is because I have no idea what would work best with anyone else’s additions, especially if someone is going to make a character that starts with a magic sword. If someone makes a character that starts with a magic sword close to any of these suggested chapters, please just let the character start with it and don’t add the nearest one that I’ve suggested to be added. These are just to make sure that even if people don’t there are plenty.
Eirika’s route is denoted by an A at the end of the chapter number, and Ephraim’s is denoted by a B.
Levin Sword placement:
- Ch. 3: Replace the Iron Lance in one of the chests.
- Ch. 4: Replace the Iron Axe in the nearby village. (If it’s this one then maybe have the dialogue reference it being intended as a gift for Civana for defending them in the past or something.)
- Ch. 6: Replace the Antitoxin in the southern village.
- Ch. 11A: Droppable by one of the Bonewalkers in this chapter.
- Ch. 12A: Droppable by one of the Bonewalkers guarding the boss.
- Ch. 13A: Droppable by one of the Rangers guarding the boss. (This one would probably make the map a little more hectic, so maybe not.)
- Ch. 10B: Droppable by a mercenary.
- Ch. 11B: Droppable by a bonewalker.
- Ch. 12B: Droppable by a mercenary near the boss.
And after the route split I think they should be purchaseable for 1250 Gold.
Light Brand Placement:
- Ch. 8: Added in a second chest in the northeast treasure room. I honestly just want ONE of the strong magic swords to be relatively early in the game.
- Ch. 19: I’d like if you could still get the one that’s here in vanilla, but I think the requirement should be changed from saving green units into killing Riev before the chapter ends.
Wind Edge placement:
- Ch. 15: Replacing the Killer Bow in the sand. (Even if it’s not this, I still think the Wind Edge should be on this map because in vanilla the only place to get one is from Ismaire in creature campaign, and it’d be neat as a weapon exclusively from Jehanna.)
Runesword placement:
- Ch. 19: Honestly I think it works in the place it’s in.
