Fe8 pme (AI responses only)

In a typical Fire Emblem PME challenge, participants submit their ideas for edits to the game, and the host collects and implements the most popular suggestions into a custom ROM hack. The resulting game can feature changes such as increased difficulty, unique character classes, altered storylines, and even new artwork.

  • Ask leading questions to some chatbot to have it try and suggest the edits you want.
  • Failing this, try translating your suggestion through many languages before changing it back to English.
  • Keep your responses fairly short. If you post more than a few sentences of ai-generated suggestions, your response will be ignored.
  • This thread is not for spamming. As usual with PMEs, please respond with one character replacement / edit per day.
  • You can pick and choose phrases / sentences that are generated and combine them. (You can use […] to show that you’ve done this if you like.)
  • You may freely comment on what the ai suggests.

For example, I asked what to promote Franz from fe8 into and chat gpt told me this:

[…] Franz is re-classed to a Pupil […] he can eventually become a Sage. This promotion provides Franz with high magic, skill, and speed.

A snippet from asking chatgpt why people focus on 1-2 shortbows so much:

This means that units wielding Shortbows can attack at close range without being counterattacked by enemy melee units, making them very effective against melee-heavy enemy compositions.

Great, looks like we have 1-2 range shortbows already. I guess they also have dazzle

All the character portraits have to be AI generated too

AI response verbatim

“Change the starting classes of the main lords: You could make Eirika a Cavalier instead of a Lord, or make Ephraim a Myrmidon instead of a Lord. This would change their starting stats, growth rates, and available weapons, and make for a unique playthrough.
Edit the weapon triangle: You could reverse the weapon triangle, so that swords are strong against axes, axes are strong against lances, and lances are strong against swords. This would add a new level of strategy to battles, and force players to rethink their weapon choices.
Modify the class promotion system: You could change the requirements for class promotion, or make it so that certain units can promote into different classes than they could in the original game. For example, you could allow Myrmidons to promote into Wyvern Riders, or make it so that units can promote at a lower level.
”

AI says make Eirika a cavalier and Ephraim a myrmidon, make myrms promote into wyvern riders, and to reverse the weapon triangle permanently. Except not at all.

Come now, if we’re talking about AI, why are green units not the first thing that comes to mind? Seems only fair they’d get more of a presence in such a hack.

  1. “Resource Gathering”: Make resources, such as gold or items, scarce on the map. Introduce NPCs that compete with the player for these resources. The player can be rewarded for successfully gathering resources and using them effectively, while defeating as many hostile NPCs as possible.

With a little polishing from a human: Make it so at the start of every player phase, one random enemy generic unit becomes an NPC (to compete for EXP and drops with the player) and all NPCs are also hostile towards the player. To avoid the random NPCs from killing recruitable enemies you would just make their AI ignore each other until the recruitment happens.

I’ll go over every vanilla chapter just in case to make sure this couldn’t cause a softlock.

EDIT: For chapters that require opening doors, you’d make it so the enemies that drop keys are considered recruitable so they can’t become NPCs and don’t attack each other.
Green Gorgon eggs seem to function without problems.

7th respons in and we’re already off to a horrid start, this is gonna be great. Also the idea was so good it made Vesly do a pme, a PME!!

it remains to be seen whether Vesly actually makes these edits to a rom or not

“A decent alteration of the game Fire Emblem 8 to make it “painfully difficult” would be to set every weapon to have a 50% chance of killing its user” - ChatGPT

All of these things so far sorta just seem like they’d just end a run really early. Oh dear.

This is comedy gold, let’s do it.

Eirika is a Lord class character in Fire Emblem 8: The Sacred Stones, but if we were to imagine an alternative class for her, she could potentially be a Pegasus Knight.

Starting items:

  • Steel Lance - A strong weapon for Eirika to use in combat.
  • Javelin - A ranged option for Eirika to use while flying.
  • Vulnerary - A healing item to keep Eirika healthy during battles.

We all know Ewan is the worst unit in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. How would you make him actually useful? Choose Ewan at the start of the game, and he’ll be a heavy infantry unit that can summon another army with a powerful attack.

Armor mage who can summon a whole-ass army? Shining Stones of Holy Hell

Input to ChatGPT: Lyon, a major antagonist in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, uses the Naglfar, a powerful weapon with high might but also high weight, which drastically slows him down. How can we improve the Naglfar so Lyon becomes a more difficult boss?

Full response

So, to shorten it, these are the suggestions we are taking:

[…] Increase its might even further[…]Increase the weapon’s critical hit rate[…]Increase its range[…]Remove the weight penalty[…]adding a life-staling effect that drains the health of the opponent[…]

Edits:

  • Naglfar has more MT
  • Naglfar has more CRT
  • Naglfar has more range
  • Naglfar has no weight
  • Naglfar has Nosferatu effect
