Generals say they gain renewal when in fact they do not, at least brock didn’t.

personal gripe, as of chapter 10, having one thief is really starting to get tiresome with how spread out the chests are. Also that sleep caster without access to restore staves is kind of a jerk move, along with the turn 1 thieves and brigands.

I know I can buy chest and door keys but it’s still sorta irksome.

Fair enough, I forgot about the sleep staff.
I will take a look at Brock to see what’s going on there.
Most of the thieves and brigands should not reach the objectives too quickly.
I could add another thief we’ll see on that.

Well, at least on chapter 10 the thieves spawn exactly two tiles away from a chest.

And just check Niitori as well, General’s still get Weary Fighter.

So making Her a General is bad since she actually has speed.

Edit: ok, so you do get a restore on chapter 10, but you have to get within the sleepers range to get it.

Just finished after about 3 days of playing and had a lot of fun! Thanks for making the hack and I look forward to a second playthrough at some point, ideally after another patch.

Despite being balanced around Hard I played Normal. Also Ironman, blind.

The feedback below is probably all off by 1 chapter. Depending on if going by the turn count thing or save thing.

General feedback:

Some things I particularly liked:

  • Steal with full inventory patch
  • 5 mov armor
  • Very fun Jagen
  • Fast supports
  • Generics stick around if saved!
  • Promo items instead of event for lords. Well, kinda :wink:
  • Armor-esque lord felt fresh, might be a first for me.
  • Seals instead of per-class promo items
  • Ironman friendly. Lots of units and frequent joining.
  • Some cases of caps not being 20 max for t1, or 20 min for t2.
  • Redundancy on discount. 2 silver card and a Bargain.
  • 1-2 axe/lance being kinda rare.
  • Gerik’s new mug
  • Multiple boots! Purchasable even…
  • Cast from all over the place. Some fe8, but also just for example Hank.
  • Special events in the penultimate map
  • Only one fog map (At least in route I went)
  • Lord aren’t forced deployed in many maps, just about anyone can Seize on those.
  • Prfs (at least most?) can be sold
  • Chapter 13 hint for treasure.
  • Steal+!
  • Multiple Supply units.

Turn counts. took my time suffice to say.

“proper” final team. I did keep switching around units for Talks though or testing promotions.

Despite being deployed in every map, Yukari only saw 16 rounds of combat. Renault just 30 rounds. Hank 16, but also 16 kills :slight_smile:
Master Chief never saw combat.
Reisen saw one fight.
At 387 battles Flux saw the most combat.. seemingly. Maybe due to triple-queen harem Nitori and Rinkah didn’t show up in end slides. Nitori may well have seen more combat. Final map I just did the force deploys.

Nitori was probably all around general MVP

As often happens for me, finished game with many “goodies” left unsued. Such as status staves, hammernes, some stat boposters even.

Were a few close calls and lost out a handful of side objectives, but managed to clear without unit deaths, other than a pair of generics on ch7.

Things I disliked:

  • Shop markups for preparation armory
  • Force deploy can’t swap formation (Although in at least 2 maps its relevant for turn 1 recruit)
  • The “Ruins” Village in chapter 3 didn’t seem well-implied enough, almost lost it for noticing too late!
  • No support convos. But I understand that’s a ton of effort most people will skip
  • No Show Heal patch
  • 5 crit steel/iron swords along with common low luck is just not fun. Many cases of 5-10% enemy crit. Given how common it was, even for not the above specific weapons (although slim exist too, and many foes just had natural 10-20 skill later) Hoplon felt late.
  • 5 mov dancer (Although boots help)
  • Devil weapons can’t be sold
  • Much as I took advantage of it some items really are not worth listed price. For example Spear sells for 4.5k.
  • Chapter 14 house, final line felt very out of place
  • Adventurer doesn’t have 100% pickup in desert
  • No proper hints for Est or Secret shop that I’m aware of. Latter at least is slightly-noticeable.
  • Flats can’t be disabled by Assassin or Adventurer. Even fliers take damage. Not opposed to the “take damage on turn end instead of start” change though.
  • I understand the hack is game-play-focused but even the minimal story felt a little “random”.

Couple questions I had:

  • I wasn’t able to recruit Est, a Mercenary, Halbedier (Figured would’ve been one from ch18) or Gorgon. Is that simply related to alt-route?
  • Is the ch13 arena simply tease or is it possible to get there somehow?
  • Is Flux only unit able to use Hand Ballista?
  • Is Joan meant to be able to promote? If so, how?
  • Can only Flux use Gungir?
Grammar and spelling. I'm sure I've missed some more and the below ironically has plenty of errors on my part;
  • Lord’s Axe Prf seems to be mispelled
  • Ch3 name seems to be typo
  • Ch4 misspelling of “corridor”, missing space between “300gold”, and “absurd” is misspelled during recruit talk.
  • Post-ch4 Coward is capitalized unnecessarily, Richard is mistakenly lowercase.
  • Ch6 Waifu’s description is missing a space and unless the comma was meant to be a period, She should be lowercase
  • Pre ch7 “their aid” and “safety” typos.
  • Post Ch7 Tenshi mentions lowercase thron, “you king” is probably meant to be “your king” and misspelling of cretin.
  • ch8 title is probably typoed
  • pre-ch8 “them! you” should be a capital Y. “lords done.” should be a question mark. “up you guys” probably missing a “with”.
  • Ch8 house has Lance capitalized.
  • Post ch9 tenshi lowercase
  • Joseph’s t2 class is mispelled.
  • ch10 new units mention lowercase thron. and pretty sure boss said typoed “kneel” but advanced too fast to be certain. Morshu description “you” should be “your”
  • pre-11 “we” should be capitalized.
  • ch11 Joseph typo’s “battlefield”
  • Komachi’s desc “layed” should be “laid”
  • Ch12 north village typos mercenary, and south should capitalize Monica
  • Maris’s description typos “excellent”.
  • Reisen recruitment talk typos “their” and “desire”. Her description mispells lunar.
  • Reisen recruiting Marisa typos “cutie”. “battlefield” should end with a question mark.
  • post-13 “their” typo, “withwhat” missing space. Froscal lowercase
  • ch16 Remilia recruitment typos for “recognize”, “kneel”, “intriguing”, and “allegiance” Last of which is also unnecessarily capitalized. Missing period after “superior”.
  • post-16 “trials” typo
  • ch18 Aya x Flux typo of “skirmish” and “tactician”
  • post-18 “you.The” missing space
  • ch20x Xeres x Flux typo of “pad”.
Bugs! Or things that seem odd and might not be intended.
  • If one lingers on the start menu class animations start to play but there’s some palette issues, name issues and swapped descriptions.
  • Ch2 armor has listed move but doesn’t seem to move.
  • Ch4 thieves don’t flee after looting chests
  • Was already mentioned, but General promotion mentions Renewal when in fact they gain Wary Fighter
  • Despite warning, no new foes on turn 11, 12 or anything past I think it was 4? Second wave of brigands.
  • Ch8 temporary visual bug on Mario recruit
  • Ch9 a Merc is placed on wall. Probably meant to be one over.
  • Ch10 Brock joins with a Brave Lance he can’t use, so, unarmed. Also some tiles that are Fence that maybe should be Wall?
  • Ch11 a Wyvern Rider spawns with Steel Lance they can’t use, left unarmed. Also, map ends only after ending turn after route.
  • Ch12 if you save and then restart chapter, the event for 50 xp and ballistae can be repeated. Seemingly endlessly.
  • Ch12 south village has some event issue. Pirate can’t Destroy it.
  • Ch13 Door to treasure room has event issue. Can’t be opened, although red Marisa will expend 1 lockpick/turn on it. Recruit talk for Reisen crops off edge of screen also with Reisen getting Marisa.
  • Marisa can’t gain xp when using Steal(+) unless it results in a levelup. Bar will appear showing +10 xp but its not “Saved”.
  • Ch13 Secret shop sells Gungir for 135 gold and Ballista for 0.
  • Ch14 village changes to a “destroyed” sprite after visiting instead of “locked”
  • Ch16 Adventurer leaves map and comes back during turn 1. Then leaves. Nosferatu Shaman near boss claims to move but doesn’t, probably wrong AI set.
  • Ch17 chest starts “open”. Objective says seize gate, but target is on throne. Finally, Target can Lunge off the throne, allowing for capture without bosskill.
  • Ch18 Gungir on a general he can’t use, effectively unarmed. Also looks like a deploy tile was mis-clicked and should be 4x3 instead of 1 to side and corner missing
  • Joan can’t promote with Seal
  • Ch19 boss has Rally Spectrum
  • Ch20 some generals have "bugged "res, showing “-- +1” instead of “1”. Adventurer had same thing but with def. Also they spawn without a lockpick and don’t move from stairs. Flux x Nitori, Rumina and Rinkah all resulted in siginfingat visiaul bugs that require a reset > resume to fix. Also was I meant to be able to speak to multiple in the same run? Rinkah didn’t have promo gains. Going into the map Aya, Byakuren and Reisen also claimed ot have talks with either lord but on starting map can’t. Presumably due to having Support but not A-rank. Rumia loses Lockpick use as Queen
  • After clearing, one can go Extras > Map for “creature Campaign” but it doesn’t work.
Rambly thoughts on units:
  • Flux. Lord is lord. I used speedwings right before he promoted of course. With 38 strength as a Warlock King he could ohko much but still not one-round as much as I’d like. Hand Ballista is funny…
  • Joseph. Support unit. +/- 2 damage is big, staves are nice. Great magic, speed and res.
  • Nitori. I like armors. Made mine into a GK. Queen was a pleasent suprise. Surpsingly fine speed, hit pretty hard and was my main tank throughout the run. Lacked res…
  • Aya. Filler. I had better options.
  • Komachi. Neat unit, could see myself using her more in another run. Relief is useful along with getting Dark. Plus just nice stats all around.
  • Rumia. Lack of luk held her back. Still, first thief and can use devil weapons.
  • Byakuren the less-good Renault. Still, fine unit.
  • Rinkah - Initaly thought she;s a growth unit, but bases are too low.
  • Reisen. Filler.
  • Remilia. Very solid filler. Could fit on most teams. Also noticed 1-move-cost fort/forest
  • Leonie. The better Hank. +1 range is huge on sniper regardless but anyway orkos most things and isn’t anywhere near as frail.
  • Nyx. Dancer. Got my boots. One of the only 2 units to cap t2 at level 20. Insane avoid and res but not meant to fight. Magiccounter was very niche. Deployed every map.
  • Yukari. My favorite Jagen in ages. 1-mov-cost forest, canto, aid, summons not-1-hp summons, staves. Was deployed every map.
  • Renault - Somehow my best omni-tank at 17 def, 16 res. Not that he saw much combat. Mostly staffbot. Needs more luk.
  • Suika - Flying tank! Also gets magic. Was my main flier.
  • Marisa - more bulky Rumia along with Steal+. Deployed almost every map. Got Body Rings of course. Helped keep me in 1-2 range lance/axe.
  • Joan - I was expecting red tide and reposition :frowning: nonexistant luk. Capped spd/res but also stuck at t1 seemingly?
  • Tenshi - Again felt lacking in luck. Still, Divine Hero is cool, could orko most things and Repostion useful tech. 2 stars don’t hurt either.
  • Palla. Solid flier, but took backseat to Suika. Probably main part of team in a different run
  • Owain. Saw all of one map. Just kinda eh? Glass-cannony but even then not great. Usable filler.
  • Morshu - Most practical Fighter. Also great Personal just shame it doesn’t stack with Silver card. Then again, infinite money… Didn’t use much but again solid unit for another run
  • Momiji - Just kind eh? Filler. Nothing special either way
  • Appo - PP unit. Swap had early use. Vantage could have some combos.
  • Silque - Fights magic, not so much phsyical. Seems fine for another run
  • Resistance Fighter - Smite is useful. Most-def fighter and not like hp, spd or str are bad. Still, lack of skl makes them hard to use.
  • Mario - Seems to have good potential. Also moneymaker.
  • Beth - Cavalier I invested into, and still benched later. Solid unit.
  • Hank - Early archer. Too much of a glass cannon for my taste. Overkill mostly, but got ohkos at least to save longbow durability.
  • Mr L. Can’t Summon :frowning: Overall just ok Although Dark has fun stuff.
  • Richard - Secondary cav.
  • Catria- Teriary Cav.
  • Resitance Cav - Filler. Seemed most practical of the 4 options.
  • Brock. Worse armor option I guess? But can fill a role if lacking.
  • Chief - Better than Suika for physical, but lacks magic secondary for fighting armor.
  • Gerik - Suprisngly solid stats. Filler.
  • Lucious - Late join. Awesome res! Filler.
  • Est… :frowning: She had Galeforce but didn’t join

One of the units join only in hard mode so that would have been why for that one.
Yeah Flux is the only one to use the hand balistia. Thanks for such good bug notes really appreciate that
I’m working on a 2.0 version with a lot of big changes and a more fleshed out story. I hope to have it done soon.

A bit trivial question but does Argon lose his cool sprite after his promotion?

His sprite does change on promotion. Sorry to disappoint if you just wanted the same one throughout.
