There is a certain bug in Chapter 1-7. Even if you kill only the minimum required (3 In the Beginning and 3 in the Corridor + 2 for the Way to the Garden.) You cannot unlock the Secret. Also, I cannot seem to get an S-Rank even if I did everything there is. Is it because I play on Tears Mode?
May be fixed in the FEE3 build.
S-Rank is only for Blood Mode.

To make it fair, the only thing locked behind Blood is the ability to earn post-chapter S-Ranks and the flavour cutscenes you get for each S-Rank rating. Gameplay-wise, Tears is easy enough to not require the extra item rewards from S-Rank. Tears is an accessibility setting for players who just want to play without the (hard) challenge that Blood adds. So if you want cool stuff, you gotta earn it.
