Hey guys, finals are finally over and I got an internship. This means I can finally hack again!!!1 :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

No new public patch, but here’s some Act 3 progress, which is planned to be around 10 chapters or so:

Also, in the same update as Act 3 will be a quick change to Acts 1 and 2 that shouldn’t dramatically alter the game flow too much but I thought would be cool to do (especially once both systems converge in Act 3):

EQUIPMENT SYSTEM

Rings are now only in Act 2. Act 1 instead has Equipment, which works essentially the same way as skill scrolls, with the difference being skills can’t be forgotten while “Equipment” can.


RING OVERHAUL

Rings are now associated with magic and have crazier effects to trade around.


And a few minor things, including new scenes in Acts 1/2.

And some new mugs I made.

Hello! Here to report a bug
I’m on 2-2,and I reached Raial and the others
Then, I talked with pandoro, and he disappeared
I then did the other talks, and rina disappeared too. Raial and Ilse didn’t.
The game shows rina and pandoro as standing where their talk was initiated, but I can’t see or control them


They both return on the next chapter

Another bug!
In 2-3, the right bottom thief that spawns later on keeps destroying the village, again and again
That might also happen with left village, I killed the thieves before they could reach it
It also wasn’t very clear that the thieves were going to destroy the villages, I was sure they were going to escape, which is how he reached the village

I am enjoying the game so much, thank you for making it

Hey, here I am again

The talk in 2-4 between raial and graham bugs out visually, and you can’t see anything raial says at that point

Hey, this time it’s a softlock…
I’m at the end of 2-5, and let edwin attack the stationary monk with ray s, and he killed, then the game softlocks
The sprites still move, and the music still plays, but I have no control, it’s just stuck like this
It happened at the end, kind of a bummer…

Noted, will fix these bugs! Do you know if you’re on the latest patch for the Edvin kill bug? I know on some previous patches it would crash if Edvin killed because his personal skill would check for an invalid target and jump to a non-existent label

Hello! Today’s not a bug day, that’s nice
However, I was playing 2-6, and after locro escapes the throne, I just assumed I can seize without killing either the generals or him, and only barely managed to survive, killing both generals in a turn(that might be because I accidentally a recruit, but still)
I would really appreciate this being said, who you need to defeat to seize
Also, this multi chapter side objective of doing good by the generals, I would appreciate being written in the guide
Maybe a way to know if you failed it or you’re doing well?

Again, I come with a bug
In 2-7, I let yufka get attacked on enemy phase
Then, I healed her on player phase with graham, and two enemy characters’ turns were ended, like her skill is
But then I checked their range, it was buggy, went back and clicked on yufka, and the enemy disappeared
I did it again, just to make sure
But well… 2-7 is rout
I got softlocked, and only realized it after killing hayes
Good luck with this one…
I also have something to say about the story
By 2-7, we see graham for being someone who sacrifice anything for his goals, and yet chiffon stays with him
It feels… Bad
I get earlier on, when he was the more pragmatic one compared to raial, but at point? He just feels like a villain through and through
I would like it if his descent was more gradual, or if he had some bargaining chip over chiffon, to secure her loyalty
Chiffon feels just as powerful as the text says she should be, that is, way too powerful, especially compared to the mage squad’s bad growths in most things that aren’t ether
As a whole, part 2 feels worse than part 1, and it’s mostly because of her
Why would I use most of my army, when she can do most of it alone? Maybe that’s just coming from being near the end of part 2, and her being at her highest point yet
I’m sorry if I seem harsh, I just genuinely love this hack so much and want it to be the best it can be

Hey guys, life’s been pretty busy from internships and game jams and Silksong and apartment stuff, but Act 3 has good progress (maps are done, need to finalize script/eventing stuff before release).
Because I’ll be in a position where I’m busy and can’t reliably make hotfixes, I’ll be pushing some massive, untested system changes for Acts 1 and 2 that’ll presumably require many hotfixes.

EQUIPMENT SYSTEM/REVAMPED RINGS

Equipment is basically reskinned skill scrolls, but you can’t forget skills while you can “forget” equipment. Equipment gives stats and usually a minor extra effect. Rings are now tradeables with more impactful, if niche effects (see my earlier post above for examples).

Both equipment and rings can now be bought at shops in limited amounts. I also slapped on stat boosters you can buy in preps that are limited to 1 per part. Tell me if these break anything, thank you.

PORTRAIT UPDATES

Noel, Yvonne, Jaye, Edvin (post-timeskip), Frye, Ilse, and Messel (thank you Stitch!) have new mugs!

WRITING STUFF

  • Added a ton of random boss quotes, talk convos, and other misc. dialogue (thank you Bobby for writing these)

  • Mild story beat changes to both Acts

  • Rewrote a few scenes to address feedback, mainly in Act 2

  • Fixed a few text bugs/hopefully ironed out all the eventing/cutscene/menu command bugs (rejoice engineer fans, for the sentry turret demolish command is finally at the bottom after 5 years)

  • 1-1x still doesn’t have writing (it will be the last thing written)

RANDOM OTHER STUFF

  • Rebalanced certain weapons; combat staves now deal half damage because mages (Jaye/Velius/Yvonne) were steamrolling Act 3 playtests

  • Added like 20 more custom tracks to the sound room

  • Changed a few personal skills and weapon/item effects

  • Nerfed/reworked Chiffon for the 12th time (she now has off-hand weapon effects)

  • Added a new character to Act 2 (who has a very cool portrait imo)

  • Shops now have limited buy items like equipment/rings/stat boosters

  • Adjusted certain duels/map objectives/conditionals and redistributed certain items

  • Changed the palettes of one of the enemy factions to look spookier

  • There’s like 6 git commits I don’t want to dig through so pretend there’s more stuff here

  • To-do: finish and release Act 3 (and maybe write supports if I want to spend another 6 years on this project), and fix any remaining bugs/eventing jank

I’d like some feedback on how incredibly game-breaking these untested and spontaneous changes are (and also the multitude of inevitable bugs and random typos and comma splices etc. etc.).
