The recruitment guide is when you stay alert to your surroundings and pay attention to what characters are saying.
Also I took the opportunity to update Volund’s portrait, partially because i got a lot better at hair shading and partially because I wanted to add an extra thematic tie between the Svanhild characters designs (Annelise’s is with her promo design)

How did you guys get the 10% crit threshold actually? Is that a publicly available patch or something you guys cooked up yourselves? I really like it, low% crits suck so much
Dragz made us a patch, though there might be something also in builder patch list now? I think I saw something related last time I was looking through builder patches.
baiting the boss (lysandra i think her name)
with tricia so i can gang up on her master strats. Gave tricia the kill for being a good bait that actually was able to survive by being one of the few that didn’t get doubled.
ok i cant say i expected (Chapter 20 spoilers) Dismas coming back a THIRD TIME LMAO
also that scene of Garath and Kolbane walking in on a drunk Rena was fucking heartbreaking man, I can’t lie I shed a tear for her. I’m so curious where that plotline is going, I noticed how hesitant Rena was to pick up the Parzifal and had my suspicions confirmed when I checked in the next chapter and she literally couldn’t wield it
i will say the sheer number of 1-2 range enemies is starting to get kinda exhausting, buuuuuuuuut it looks like Chapter 20 doesn’t have very many on the map so maybe I’ll finally get a break ![]()
i have a lot more i could probably say but i dont wanna write an essay and i gotta go to bed anyway, work tomorrow and allat. i definitely want to make a proper review of this hack when im all done with it, but just finishing the game will probably take me another month or two at this rate considering i pretty much only play while im at work
So… Uh… Context question. What was the story behind Nikita and Brill? I heard that you had to kill them in the original, but they are recruitable in the remake. But I can’t find more info about this, so: Can you explain what was going on there, and why they were apparently memorable enough to be made playable?
we needed a bigger playable cast and they had custom portraits
same deal with byor’dal
narratively they also worked out
Can you explain more about those three bosses and why were they considered favorite bosses to old players? What was their role in the original that made them make an impression, and caused them specifically to become playable in the remake?
people liked nikita’s design
the rest are chosen because we wanted a bigger cast of character so if you lose units you have a bigger variety of options
that’s it it’s not very complicated
Any other cases of that? Interested in how things were in the old hack.
severin probably honestly the biggest case (also for design, his characterization is more flavorful in the new version), eudira is a planned boss portrait for an unreleased chapter but it’s a really good portrait so we decided to make that playable, corbeau used to be an npc berserker with largely the same role, it made sense narratively to promote the character to playable, portrait is brand new because the old one was a splice
alexis/marie are [tact] back in fe7, tricia used to be merlinus slot and that’s why she has convoy
lyndra/morwen/adalheid were not planned as playable in 2012 but had their role expanded here
Interesting. Very interesting. More details on how exactly these people went from random chapter bosses to playable? Was anything memorable about them personality-wise?
Also, why not Valin and Merri? Both seem to have oddly limited roles, which apparently was also the case back then…
there is not really a complicated process for it, we overhauled a lot of personalities to begin with because 2012 do5 is written when parr was a teenager and 2023 do5 is written when parr is an adult
valin and merri do not pass the portrait quality threshold
Oh, I see. Thanks for the info!
I lowkey forgot about those two in my playthrough, in hindsight it definitely feels unusual that they don’t do much
Not necessarily an actual critique though, they served their purpose of giving exposition and being kinda funny, no reason that they needed to be playable
I just finished chapter 22. I am emotionally devastated by that ending I hate everything
VARKADE!!! KILL YOURSELF VARKADE!!!
Not-so-bright me encountered an even less bright AI. Thus a bug occurred.
Tyrolf should have attacked and killed Arcus, but he crashed into Marin’s lance and successfully killed himself.
And the ch 6x cannot end.
(No, there’s no news about the translation. I just couldn’t wait…)
oh wild
usually with bosskill maps that have issue with ending on ep bosskill, the next pp the map ends after one action, so could try moving a guy? let us know if that doesn’t work though
but that is strange because we did have this issue before with a different boss and thought we fixed them all already, i guess not haha
Yes it works ヽ(○´∀`)ノ♪
I guess this is a common bug, since I encountered the same thing in the desert chapter of Curse of Lagdou (and same solution) lol
