[FE8] [COMPLETE] Eligor's Spear version 4.0 (47 Chapters)

There won’t be significant changes to the first few maps, so you needn’t replay the first few maps if you don’t want to.

Will 4.0 be the final update/release of this?

Hopefully yes.

I’m so unbelievably hyped to play through 4.0

I’m also really looking forward to the 4.0 release! Tried the game some years ago, but didn’t really commit to playing enough and dropped this. Been thinking about Eligor’s Spear lately and I’m really excited for a new major update to give it another go!

I’m going to do an experimental thing here and post patch notes a few days in advance. There’s quite a lot of them.

If you’re a returning player, you’ll get to see what has been changed. If you’re a new player, you’ll get to see what to expect.

And if you see something you’re vehemently against, voice your concern now and it might still get addressed - or alternatively, if you have ideas for any small changes you’d like to have implemented, it might still be possible to make that happen.

See below for a list of all the changes. There are spoilers in the notes, but I tried to blur the notes that are more revealing.

All patch notes:

Fixes

More typo fixes, dialogue revisions/additions/fixes

Skylar has 9 con regardless of which class he was promoted to
Playable Grismond has had his Anima and Light magic ranks increased from C to B, allowing him to use siege tomes at base

Some cutscene changes for ch14x Hiranian Sands
Added dialogue to telegraph reinforcements in ch12x Even Towards Death and ch15x Dark Sun’s Solstice

I’m seriously just refreshing FEUniverse multiple times a day to see if the patch has dropped… Idk I got a pretty boring month incoming and really really hyped for this!

Oooh boy, the end is near. I’ve been waiting SO long for this, it’s gonna be a blast!

It is done. Version 4.0 is now available. See the main post.

I’m now going to treat myself to something nice and wait for something to inevitably break, whether that’s tile changes or someone’s credit information.

I hope this is the final patch, but if there are, by any chance, gamebreaking issues I managed to overlook or inadvertently cause, of course those will be patched out. Anything more minor probably won’t, depends on what kind of issue it is.

Holy cow, what a milestone !
For the hack itself, obviously, for your own personal life, probably, and the Fire Emblem romhacking scene, indubitably - considering it’s one of the best hack ever worked on, let alone reaching its (intended) final version number.

My phone was conveniently destroyed in an accident a few weeks ago, losing my entire save data, so that’s the perfect excuse I needed to replay this game again.
And now, as I promised I would, I shall tackle the post-game content too~

I could ramble on about this for who knows how long, but the short of it is that I’ve always wanted to make a game of my own, and Fire Emblem romhacking, especially at the time, seemed like the most accessible way of doing it.

I hope you’re doing better now and managed to recover any lost data.

HELL YEAH!!! Oh boy, am I going to enjoy this…

In Astaroth’s Lair, everyone was poisoned in the second round, and then the game was frozen.

And choosing to suspend is not to return to Warlord Lair Nexus.
I can only play with other lairs after you fix the bug.

Thanks for reporting.
I was able to recreate this issue in VBA, but not mGBA. This will be fixed later today, whether that is by completely removing the damage gimmick or not.

Edit: Released a hotfix for the issue reported by @Dizzlepath
If you were experiencing this issue, please Restart the chapter

When does Sabiqa appear? Is she even recruitable? Because she does have support pairings, yet she does not appear in the recruitment guide. And I am well into the runaway route, the gaiden chapter specifically.

You’ll have to figure that out on your own.

OOoh, I see. It mus be that ??? - ??? at the bottom of the document. Well, it can’t be much more difficult than not killing that one assassin boss in the other route.

BUG?

@Zarg

I’m going to need way more information before I can even begin investigating this.
