If you say it’s 20% I’ll believe you but if felt like 5% for me, Kindred took around 5/6 skirmishes to appear but I can’t refute the unlucky streak.
Are supports points gained by ending the turn together or by just deploying the units? During yesterday’s hellish grind I got a lot less supports than I expected, while properly choosing characters that could support.
Another question though this time it’s about the story. Is Magnyria hiding something dark? The super evil empire vs good kingdom (Fates) doesn’t work that well in your story, every time I hear Reese say how pure and good of a ruler his father was I can’t help but think that despite being the successor she’s awfully ignorant of the responsibilities kings shoulder.
So Magnyria’s rulers are very long lived. Reese wasn’t expecting to take the throne any time soon and was still in that rebellious phase. Given 10 or so more years to cook and she probably would’ve been a much more willing and ready leader of people.
And yeah, while Vosferr is the more war centric kingdom, I wouldn’t say they’re necessarily more evil. They’ve both villainized the other throughout the ages. “The Vosferrous people care only for death, little more than murderers.” Or “Magnyrians are cowards hiding behind banners of peace because they know they’re weak.” While both sentiments have kernels of truth, they’re not the whole story.
They are gained by doing both. But every chapter has a cap of 50 points a unit can gain. This exists specifically to avoid people waiting over and over again for 100+ turns on skirmishes and defend maps lol.
But every pair gets 5 points for ending a chapter alive together, 1 point each for ending a turn or participating in combat in growth range (which is several tiles), and 1 point for interacting with each other.
I think there’s an error the way you set support gains, plus points for interactions (heal) or for attacking near the other character are not that common unless the range is ginormous, that leave us with points for passing turns and the basic points for ending the map.The only way to earn supports outside of story maps are skirmishes which feature few enemies and small maps, great for grinding levels and money but not that good for supports. Why not eliminate every other points except the ending bonus and make it somewhat bigger? Let’s say from 5 points to 10-15.
I almost forgot, Shayn’s options for promotion are pretty meh, I though he would have a personal class or something.
Yeah, the way that support growths are measured in engine is a little confusing. I could just make it based on who is in each chapter, but maybe I’m just a sucker for the nostalgia of having it increase on wait. I don’t know, I’m not absolutely married to it, but I’m not all that convinced to change it just yet.
As for Shay, FotF is still taking a lot of it’s queues from FE8, so his promo line is just like one of the trainee classes from there. I don’t see much of a reason to give him a unique class at the moment, but maybe something down the line, who’s to say?
-~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-
On a separate note, I’ve released a new version just now that fixes the support gating issues, so now you won’t be able to trigger supports earlier than intended. Same warning as before, this is technically a new version of the engine, so there’s always the chance something wonky could happen based on old saves, however unlikely the chance is.
Regarding support points please consider the change, until chapter 11 it wasn’t a serious problem since you have a relatively small party and almost no chance to grind, different from normal FE there’s no support limit here so I assume we’re encouraged to enjoy the convos, nearly impossible when you need like 20 fast skirmishes to increase a rank or a few 50 turn skirmishes to do the same.
Shay starts late in the game in a shitty class with an interesting Prf, it’s safe to think there’s something going on with him, like a prize for feeding him kills to promote even if you have to use skirmishes.
There’s no secret regarding 11x boss except from Gio’s conversation right?
I think you make a good point about the skirmishes there, the last thing I want is to force people to sit in battle and wait on repeat to get more convos. So for the next release I’ve increased the growth range a bit and increased the end point reward from 5 to 10. If I feel like supports are being unlocked too quickly, I can always increase the amount of points needed lol.
There’s definitely some stuff going on with Shay, but the big reward you get for using him at the moment is a beefy ass unit with potentially 90+ HP if you use that prf right haha. I’m always open to other ideas for him though.
Not sure what you mean by secret, but Gio, Shay and both lords have a conversation with her. If you’re looking for a way to recruit her, that’s unfortunately not possible. Yet?
Two ideas for what they’re worth…
Why not make supports easier to get but locked up till certain points of the game like you did with the lords? I get you don’t want people to grind supports because the bonuses can make the game easier so make a lock like, chapter 5 max support rank c, chapter 11 max rank b etc etc… I don’t know if that’s easy or annoying to make but I’m just saying.
Shayn, either make an unique class or present him already promoted to a basic class but low level, that would get the point of his character across without the suspicions a low class gets at that point in the game.
I though there might be something since Gio is searching for “her” so maybe a hint or a requirement for a future recruitment.
Most every time Gio has an interaction with one of the sisters it does tick up a variable that will later get checked for something in the future.
I actually tuned down supports quite a bit from vanilla GBA, so I’m not so much worried about them stacking the bonuses too early. Besides gating supports that way doesn’t stop them from stacking all the individual C supports which can still be a lot. The only thing I’m worried about supports being unlocked too quickly for is just having all the supports unlocked by like chapter 16 or something. Not going to have any supports to enjoy in the last part of the game lol.
I don’t know what you want from Shay, he’s basically a late join trainee like Ewan. Making him a 1st tier class eliminates the fun of it, and so does making him a unique class really. He’s a sword unit that you can take down the road of any of the sword maining classes. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to use him
I’m sure I just mistyped a line lol, I’ll have that fixed by tomorrow. Thank you so much for letting me know <3
EDIT: Went ahead and fixed it before heading to bed. The link should have the new version with the proper changes. You’ll prolly have to restart chapter 1 but then it should work perfectly. Until the next time I forget to replace the line properly lol
So whether to avoid an April Fools release, or just because I think an Easter Sunday release is apropos for the given subject matter of the game, I’m pushing the newest release of FotF at this lovely late hour.
This version finally pushes the final chapters of Fate of the Fallen to public availability. Chapters, 19x, 20, and 21, along with the first of 13 epilogues.
The Patreon has access to an additional 3 Epilogues. One for Sabe, one for Kree, and one for Yhana. If you’re particularly fond of any of them, and just can’t wait think about hopping over to the patreon and showing some support. I’ll love you forever <3.
If you’re wondering if your favorite character will get their an epilogue of their own, then consider popping over to the Discord and asking me over there. If you make a good enough convince, I’ll more than likely be convinced lol.
I could go into more detail, but it’s late and I’d like to let you all know that the newest release is available at the usual link found in the opening before the day turns from god’s son’s rebirthday, to a big prank.
As usual, I hope you enjoy playing FotF, and please let me know of any hilairous bugs I’m sure to have left in this soup of a finished game.
It’s gonna be May~
Thank you for that, Justin Timberlake. Welcome to May, and welcome to another release of Fate of the Fallen. This month, the public version of FotF is gaining access to two more Epilogues. I could tell you who these epilogues are starring, but where’s the fun in that?!
I didn’t have nearly as much time to work on supports as I’d have liked to this month, and I can’t blame Myriad Fortunes for it completely. Real life circumstances has forced me to go out job hunting for the first time in a while. And as anyone who has had to find a job would know, it’s not fun.
Still I was able to make a lot of fixes and changes to the game from last month, and hopefully eradicate some unusual bugs that some very lovely members of the Discord ran into.
I was hoping to have this version released on a new version of LT that can do some really AWESOME things, but unfortunately, a game breaking bug in the newest version of LT has pushed that back for a little bit. But there will be awesome new things in engine soon, I swear.
Til then you can enjoy the awesome adventure that is FotF with the updated version on the same public link in the OP. And you can be awesome too if you help me make it even better with your awesome feedback. (Am I using the word awesome too much? I might be, but I guess I’m just in an awesome mood)
As always, if you’d like to support me and my endeavors to make cool fun games, check out my Patreon or my Ko-Fi. If you don’t have the means to toss me a few bucks, I totally get it, neither do I lol, but you can still be awesome and join the Discord to hang out with a bunch of other awesome people, most of which don’t say “awesome” as often as I’m saying right now. I hope to see you there.
As always I hope you have fun playing Fate of the Fallen!
I’m already late because I got real sick last week, so instead of giving you the whole rigamarole, I’ll just plop in to say, happy June, here’s a new release of FotF with a bunch of bug fixes, hard mode starting work, and support writings, and a public Epilogue Chapter for Kree.
Over on the Patreon, I’ve released the newest epilogue chapter for S.
If any of this sounds good to you, come join us over on the discord server and say hello. It always makes my day getting to know my awesome players! <3
Why do my units gain almost no experience from battles? I would understand if it was turn based, but two turns in and Hazel is killing an archer one level below her and getting 10xp total.
It uses a newer experience formula that puts more weight behind the level differences of units.
It’s still being balanced here and there, but it’s mostly been a positive change from the previous exp gain which was resulting in very overleveled units.
Never dove into the code of OG Do5, but I meant newer in relation to LT.
It’s called a Gompertz formula, and instead of dumping a bunch of technical terms, the best way I’ve had it explained to me was with a picture.
The red line is the default exp formula which is more or less just exponential growth.
The purple line is the Gompertz formula which as you can see is steeper for the smaller level differences before turning shallow once the big differences hit.
I personally think this is a good change, but I understand that some people might not agree.
It’s not July yet, but we’re ringing in the summer heat with an early update to Fate of the Fallen!
Making up for the late release from my horrid sickness, I’ve pushed the July version of FotF a few days early.
This release brings the Epilogue Chapter for everyone’s favorite twins to the public. Aki and Kai’s epilogue map was really fun to build and I think it ended up real well.
Didn’t have a lot of time for supports, but I was able to do some bug fixing and balance adjustments to various spots.
We’ve also uncovered a surprising engine bug that allows players to turnwheel into the middle of an enemy turn, and act as if it was the player turn. Understandably, this is a little game breaking lol. Right now, the best bandaid is to just not select the middle of an enemy turn when turnwheeling. But I’m sure a real fix will come soon.
As always, if you come upon any more bugs or errors, please let me know here or on the Discord server. And if you’re able and want to help me feed my wonderful pets, consider checking out my Patreon or Ko-Fi.
Hope you have a great time playing Fate of the Fallen!
